The fact that they are matching 😭
I don’t know if you’ve seen the synopsis for 7x10 but apparently jughead and tabitha are supposed to be investigating, but what’s so funny to me they can’t even give new ships like jabitha their own kink, they have to recycle from other ships ( bughead) and that’s what is frustrating because that was something that was very special in that relationship, and was their kink, and their taking that and using it in another relationship, and it takes away what made investigating special, bottom line is i don’t trust RAS to do bughead the justice that it deserves, cause after seeing that crap, it’s clear that he could care less, about what’s right for the show.
Given how Tabitha has the personality of paste (a feature enhanced by Erinn's subpar acting skills and her clear misery at having to stick it out on this show), and given how she and Jughead look revolted to be within a few feet of each other, I'm sure they'll be quite the dynamic investigative duo.
RAS can't give Jabitha their own identity because they're barely in a relationship. They have no history, no compatibility, and no chemistry. So, the writers are taking the lazy way out and having them "investigate." Hopefully they don't have to touch, because watching actors noticeably cringe takes viewers right out of the scene.
You shouldn't trust RAS period. He's doing whatever the hell he wants, in the laziest and least satisfying way possible. He wants to pretend Bughead never existed, and he can do that. Viewers can respond in kind, and they are, by not watching. That guy's got an ego the size of Jupiter and talent the size of an asteroid.
I'm sure he's absolutely shocked at how badly this season is going over. It's not like he could have known in advance what people wanted to see. It's not like anyone told him.
Oh, wait. Everyone did.
The bird scene is still haunting me 😭 like, how does saving a bird as a kid has anything to with how she feels about herself as an adult after she hurt and killed people? It's so sad bc its a comparison to the bughead scene where betty had the same problem and jug was like "yes. You have a dark side but that doesn't define you" while Archie basically dismissed all her worries with a stupid story that she doesn't even remember. He just doesn't see her and will never understand her true self. It's ridiculous, in any other show the first partner would have dismissed her and the growth would be that she realizes that that doenst define her. But oh well. Who needs character growth when you can just erase (or wash away) that part of the characters personality to force her into a ship that does nothing for her :)
That baby bird story illustrated yet again that the writers cannot write those two as having a bond beyond "grew up next door to each other." That's a nice meet-cute, but it isn't the foundation of some great love.
Plus, it's another indicator that Archie doesn't really know her, and can't bother to put forth the effort. She's hurting, she's berating herself, she's worried she's a bad person...and he assures her that one time she did a nice thing. Even serial killers volunteer at soup kitchens every now and again and give money to buskers. They're still evil. It's a totally simplistic view of Betty and of human nature, and it indicates he doesn't understand her complexity.
And she didn't even remember it, so it wasn't some meaningful moment they shared together.
The writers have never bothered to show these two as having a basis for a long-term love. They could have, many times, but they haven't. Their life-long unbreakable bond has always been something the writers have told us about instead of shown us.
If season 1 would have been like this, we wouldn't be here rn.
No way it would have lasted 7 seasons.
I really wonder what about this season is "like season 1"or" feels nostalgic. It has a completely different vibe, different characters, different plot (what plot) and different dynamics.
Imagine if they would have played jughead - the narrator-like they did this episode.
"It's what riverdale should have always been like" yet it was the most successful when it was completely different. Jeez, wonder why
It's so weird to me how the writers keep creating weird storylines and then blame it on jughead 😐
Like, we have to watch 40 minutes of over sexualized fantasies and then they let a character call it out, so it's not their fault but the characters.
Making jughead a weirdo who's thinking about sex between his classmates 🤡
what bothered you about jeronica?
what bothers me isn't about them per se. i think they're what everyone who likes JV expected them to be, and fairly in character, and i really do like them and what they were given. it's the writing in general and how these writers just miss the mark everytime.
like, for example. man, imagine! if this JV storyline happened in s5 post-time jump. jughead needed a place to stay there, veronica could've been fresh out of her chad mess. why couldn't they connect then and develop something that would matter? or even more! when she moved in with archie in 5x18. JV could've connected there, found out they shared the same interests, and then they could've slowly built something. but again, NO! we were stuck with stupid veggie and reggie being an asshole instead of a good love interest for v.
and even in s6. couldn't they build that friendship while JV were working together? yes! but did they? no. they had veronica pining for archie and hinting something would happen there, only to, again, change everything last minute because it was fun!
so, it just pisses me off that we could get a good thing but we don't get a good thing. these characters aren't even our characters. when tabitha comes back then what? when jughead gets his memories back then what? why does it even matter the way they are writing JV? it doesn't.
also, even in the 50s, they couldn't have spared another episode to build up stuff if they wanted to go there? not JV per se, but the switch from varchie was insanely fast again, just like in the end of s5. nothing is supposed to matter this season i guess, and i'm mostly okay with it, but sometimes it upsets me especially when it concerns veronica.
anyway, i'm not upset with them happening, it's just the way this show could be good and sucks everytime. also i don't like how some people take the opportunity and use them to shit on varchie, but well, it is what it is.
"if you enjoyed the first season of the show..."
Then don't bother with the last one bc it just shows you how lucky you were that we didn't go this route in 2017.
"people of the first season of the show will love this"
Yeah. Bc it's basically a first season. A spin off if you will.
I just find it frustrating to say for a final season "no matter if you liked our show or not. Nothing matters and we'll show you what riverdale wasn't but could have been. So anyways. Welcome to 7x1. The pilot. "
It's a shame that one of their main ships is nothing more than bait for them now.
I'd rather see them investigate together or just as friends or simply acknowledging their past than get a kiss that means nothing every season.
Like, that's the 3rd season where we waited for smth and they just throw in a random kiss that leads nowhere and call it a day.
It's funny to say that riverdale isn't about ships. Not even talking about Lili bc I know how she meant it. But the writers. Just stop caring about the ships.
Bc then I think about all the people that were so discouraged after the last 2 seasons. They tried to understand the story that the writers were telling. Made theories, focused on the thing that was part of every season. The mystery. But where did this get them? They spent 20+ episode theorizing, just so that the writers could change the ending of the season in the last 2 episodes. Changed it without explaining everything.
So I can't care about the ships. And I can't care about making theories bc they won't solve their storylines.
Then what's left? Everyone keeps saying "Well. It's riverdale" so basically they tell us "keep watching. It's stupid. But it's always been stupid"
Via TV Guide
Good advice.
“I don’t know if anyone’s going to end up with anyone.”
That is absolutely an RAS thing to do.
Let's just pretend like shipping isn't the main reason why people kept watching that shit show 💁🏻♀️
Also, "take the characters for who they are" and they changed the characters completely for the last season.
Might as well say "whatever you liked about the show doesn't matter to us"
Ras really started a shipping war and is now like "I have nothing to do with that"
Just bc you make some similar camera shots, write similar lines and erase everything that happened, it doesn't mean it's like s1 btw 💁🏻♀️
I love how some of these are archetypes some are just straightforward descriptions and some are shit RAS just made up Riverdale is so funny
Everytime someone refers to betty as the perfect girl next door, a part of me dies :') we' ve come so far and now we are here again
It may sound abnormal, but there are some people who just have this innate attraction to the darker, more taboo side of life.
or the moment it became canon Betty is Bored™ in bed with Archie #WE BEEN KNEW
The way they used this season to show over and over again that they don't work. You know, the thing betty realized 1 1/2 seasons ago?
I also miss the core 4. Sure, they were never the best friends, but they were a dynamic that was part of most of the show. Even if it was just them pretending to be friends. Ending the season together at Pops.
But with cole saying that he isn't part of a lot group scenes, I doubt we'll get that back. It's just odd to me how the writers say it's more like the earlier seasons, but the most important things aren't there.
But as long as veronica is with another red head, right? 😭
