There’s a YouTube channel called Ladbible it’s kind of like a British version of Buzzfeed or at least they make the type of content buzzfeed used to and there’s something they do called Snack Awards where celebs choose their favorite snacks of all time. And when Amy Adams had an episode I ofc had to watch it and I was surprised at some of her selections.
What did she pick?
I used to consider myself a leftist. I no longer do.
"What made you change?"
Nothing. I still hold the same beliefs, the same values, the same morals. I'm still the same person I was when I attended Pride, when I volunteered, when I was loudly fighting racism, sexism, and inequality.
But at some point you found a dusty old sign in your grandfather's attic. You gave it a lick of paint and proudly placed it on the front door.
"NO ZIONISTS ALLOWED"
it reads. "Don't worry" you told me. "We like you. We just mean the racists, the fascists, the evil ones. We don't mean you. You're one of the good ones."
But the thing is, I'm not stupid. And you didn't do a very good job. The paint has already begun to peel, and the original words are peeking through.
"NO JEWS ALLOWED"
Because there seems to be some debate let me spell out the deep, secret meaning of this post. Here we go:
The left has an antisemitism problem and I no longer feel comfortable labeling myself as such despite still holding “leftist” values.
That’s it. That’s the main point of the post.
Many of the people responding to this do not seem to understand what an allegory is. So I guess I need to be very direct with this too:
This is not an account of an actual, specific event that took place.
I never claimed it was. I just seem to have forgotten how many people on this website enjoy urinating on impoverished people.
And @fluketopia and @betterredactually It’s a bit sad and weird that you see something you don’t personally agree with and understand and your first assumption is that it’s an “enemy” plant made by AI.
I have never once written anything by AI, and anything I do write is either an allegory (see above) or 100% true. Here’s a cheat sheet to help you tell the difference:
When I talk about specific stuff that has happened me and including other people in it (i.e. a girl in my class or my therapist) that’s a story of an event that happened to me.
When I’m addressing the nebulous “you”, that’s an allegory meant to make a point and not an actual event that happened as such.
We as people grow when exposed to opinions that don’t match our own. And the fact that you two (and others on the post) have decided to discount not only this but everything I have written because you disagree with it means you will stagnate as a person. You don’t have to like me or agree with me. I don’t like or agree with a lot of people, but I still value hearing and attempting to understanding their position because only using one set of data skews your results. And also, and this part is important so bear with me,
I’m aware that I can be wrong about things.
But if I shut my ears to dissenting opinions I will never know and never learn, and I would much rather learn, even if it’s uncomfortable, than stay wrong my whole life.
And let me just preempt some responses I know are coming, debate only works if both sides believe in their position strongly but are open to being wrong. Otherwise it’s just a fight.
how does anyone genuinely believe there's some shadowy Jewish conspiracy running the world when Mel Gibson didn't even stay cancelled
"Whether someone understands it or not, these are the consequences of the political views they're espousing" is a pretty important analysis tool for online movements because quite honestly, over half of everyone engaging in politics online have no foundations for the stuff they're saying and are just saying whatever makes them feel like a member of an in-group.
If your in-group is "the left" you're very much not immune to this. In fact, trying to do left-wing politics without even trying to build a foundational political understanding is a great way to end up as a neo-nazi with a tumblr accent rather than an effective left-wing advocate.
Rashia wouldn't endorse Kamala Harris in the most important election of our lifetime but she did support Nazi Tits Graham Platner.
What is love?
Swing Life Away by mgk for @ms-maj. Happy Birthday!
I know I've said it before but it's insane how entitled people feel to the Holocaust and how smug they get when they condescend to people about it, as if the dastardly and selfish Jews are hogging their own genocide
Israel is mentioned way too many times in the world cup tags considering we didnt even fucking qualify
Yall are really fucking obsessed, get help you fucking weirdos and just enjoy the football
The president of a Jewish student body tells antisemitism royal commission that he had a relatively untroubled childhood until he went to un
A Jewish physics professor at Melbourne University has described his fear after finding 20 masked people occupying his office.
A year later, a death threat against him was graffitied on a university noticeboard. Professor Steven Prawer today told the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion the University of Melbourne failed to adequately respond.
James Oaten reports.
Professor Prawer also told the commission a death threat had been graffitied on a university noticeboard, but he did not learn about it until weeks later. "They had removed the graffiti and didn't think it was appropriate to tell me that this had been posted," Professor Prawer said. He said he was "deeply disappointed in the university", and it was hard not to think management had tried to hide it from him.
The left are calling them "low info voters" again.
also Argentina's ties to Israel are that they refused to extradite Nazis after the holocaust so Mossad agents had to covertly capture and smuggle them out of Argentina to stand trial
Argentina. One of THE football countries. On the continent that dominates football. Three time winner of the world cup. Of course they won its what they do. I dont follow sports at all and I knew this! The fact that people are blaming the Jews for this is insane (although unfortunately expected)
Also I dont think Messi means anything in Hebrew anyways, the closest word I can think of is Masi (my tax) but also my Hebrew sucks so idk
We all got that one mutual that be going through the most treacherous situations a person could endure and then posting a few minutes later about why such and such should get fucked through a concrete wall.
Mutual: my situationship partner just got caught in a tornado at a broken glass factory where they were cheating on me with my landlord who just increased my rent by 6000% and my pet marmot has a disease so rare they’re naming it after him and all my bones are becoming apricot jelly which I’m allergic to.
Same mutual 16 minutes later: Do you think Ronald McDonald and the Burger King ever explored each other’s bodies?
Funny how nobody attacking dems mentions this part.
So every Democrat who did the "symbolic vote" to cut-off aid to Israel (aka our leverage) also voted to cut off aid to Palestine. Wow.
The amazing Sam Neill has passed and I’m really sad he was a fantastic actor and seemingly a fantastic man as well.
Oh, I didn’t hear. May his memory be a blessing!
