Doom 2 This game has one of the worlds fastest DeathMatch map, the first map in single player game. The first game what announced a new deathmatch system „DM2”, also know as „respawn”, where the items respawned after pickup, but the weapons stayed. The game in multiplayer is really fast paced, a lot faster than todays games. There was not allowed of jumping and freelook, because of the engine. The Doom engine used sprites to render what’s on the maps, the enemies, weapons, and other objects. It looked funny when you ran around a dead enemy and you always saw the feet of it. It has some bugs and flaws too, but they are not really affecting the gameplay, they were just funny. For example, on the first map, when you go inside the first room and you find some platforms and switches, after using the first switch, the platforms start to sink. After the sank into the floor, you can use the swichtes in the floor. Another bug, whats really useful in multiplayer is about the „instant win” gun, the BFG. When it’s fired it launches a green plasma blob. When the blob hits something, you see a green flash and many dead enemys. If you run on a corridor into a room nad you start to fire it before the room and it hits the wall the same time when you reach the room everybody who you see in the room are dead. Theres not much invention between the two games (doom 1-2), but the largest one is the „double shotgun”, one of the best and usefullyeist gun ever. It can kill most of the enemies in one single shot if you reach close. It’s working in multiplayer too, one close shot eqauls a hundred HP’s. The guns are classic, chainsaw, pistol, shotgun, double shotgun, minigun, rocket launcher, plasma gun and the BFG9000. It also has two new mods, one is called Zdoom, it adds mouse freelook to the game, the other one is GLdoom, it uses Quake2 like polygonal models and some 3d effects. It also has a customizable hud and many other improvements.
