"What are you doing?â Ava said, as she titled her head and came out from behind the corner.
ââAh its okay..ââ Nicholas said. ââI will do better on another test hopefully. But you did pretty good!ââ
"Just study before hand,â she suggested âOr, just ask if you donât understand something,â she told Nicholas.
"What happened..â Ava asked, as she stared at the paper on the desk. âI was so sure you would do okay,â she muttered, hiding her paper, so they didnât feel to bad.Â
"I canât do anything here,â Ava started, just whacking playfully âBut watch after school..Iâll beat you!âÂ
âOh no officer! I had no idea that someone got terribly cut open by what appears to be claw marks! Thatâs sooo scary!â cried Chloe mimicking an high pitched innocent voice. Chloe giggled at her friends dramatic reaction the the description of an average bowling alley. They walked together, or more like skipped. Chloe would turn around every few seconds and walk backwards trying to face Ava as they both strided briskly. She looked up  and tried to keep herself from grinning, âI do, but we donât want to look like even more of psychopaths in front of our neighbors! Once we get into the woods, be prepared form some high speed piggy back ride races.â
Ava just laughed at her as she pretended to be innocent and she just nudged the girl lightly. Following after her, she just chuckled as she mentioned not wanting to be psychopaths. âThey wonât see us if we go super fast,â she mentioned but hearing laughter, there neighbors might find them crazy. âYes! We can go as fast as we want without worrying about someone seeing us,â she agreed.
âWell, Iâm sure weâll find a way to get into trouble, especially cause itâs me,â Chloe was pumped to see her friend acting soâŠunreserved. she danced around with her, âGross shoes, the smell of sweaty old men and terrible food,â she rambled. âTo the woods!â she felt her friends hands on her shoulders and yelled, âI swear to god, if you try to give em a piggy back ride I will ram you into a doorway!â
"Either way we can just escape and act innocent,â Ava said, which she could get them out of. She pinched her nose as if remembering the smell of the shoes and the food, Ava stuck her tongue out. âDisgusting,â she agreed before they headed towards the woods. âI thought you loved giving me piggy back rides,â she joked, as she just linked arms with Chloe.
âThanks for the fun tip. Maybe next time you wonât assume everything is about you.â He scoffed at her. Idiot. Let her walk off to class in a huff, he didnât give a single shit about her or what she did. âEnjoy your book and class.â
Isaac turned his back to her, shaking his head and closing his own locker with his elbow.
"If you come up to someone, obviously they would,â she snapped before she shuffled on to her next class. She pretty much tuned out everything else he said and just grumbled âDonât you turn..Ava..heâs nothing more than some idiot,â her eyes were so close to turning bright yellow. âChloe..Chloe..Chloe,â she repeated to herself, as she felt her self calm down.
âThatâs my girl! Exciting, excitingâŠwhatâs exciting in town as small as this?â she pondered for a second, âI almost said bowling, which just exemplifies how the lameness is beginning to rub off on me. Letâs check out the woods.â
"Nothing, thatâs why I want to do something!â she shouted all playfully towards Chloe. She just looked at her as if she was crazy. âI hate bowling, the shoes are just unsanitary,â she commented before agreeing with going to the woods. âLetâs do that,â she told the blonde, putting both hands on her shoulder.
âYouâre excused.â He looked her up and down with a sneer, âDoes it look like I was talking to you?â Isaac pointed over his shoulder at Lydia Martin who was sticking her tongue out at him and telling him to get to class before he failed school.
"I suggest you say that when your next to her,â Ava said, before grabbing her books and just shutting her locker. âI was hoping you werenât or this book would have been used more than just for reading,â Ava replied, as she just started walking towards her class.
âReally?â Katieâs face lit up. âOh my gosh. Thatâs great. Thank you so much for your help. I just can not get this unit.â She reluctantly took the other piece of paper and started working on the problem until she got stuck. âOkay, um, why am I getting the weirdest numbers ever?â
"Yes, I would not lie,â she replied as she just watched how over joyed she was from getting the answer right. âItâs hard at first but you just need someone whoâll take it step by step,â she replied as she watched her reaction to the other piece of paper. Looking over her shoulder, Ava watched as the numbers became way more than she expected. âI think you need to redo step five,â she pointed it out and just went over the problem again.
âWhat is that awful smell?â Isaac wrinkled his nose, looking around him for the source, then saw who walked around the corner and smirked at them. âOh, itâs just you.â
Ava was grabbing books out of her locker to only stop when she was approached. âExcuse me?â she asked, folding her arms against her chest.
Chloe giggled and tried to wriggle out of her friendâs arms as soon as she did she turned around her eyes widening, âShould we go on a midnight sugar spree? Another bonus of Walmart, besides being security-less, itâs also open 24/7,â Chloe had always been the least moral of the group, and she kind of had to be. she was the alpha after all, she had to take on the weight of the packâs failures and that was much easier when you didnât consider anything bad. She laughed wildly, âOh my gosh! Iâd have to eat like a monkey and be much more flexible in general! Iâd never be able to!â she joked. âOr maybe the universe was just like âOh crap, we already gave all the metaphorical trophies to Ava, letâs give this pity one to Chloe. There now everything is balanced!â And thatâs how I very deservingly became alpha!â Â
Suggesting a midnight sugar spree, Ava rubbed her chin before nodding her head. âYeah, lets do it,â she agreed with Chloe as she just thought about what she wanted from Walmart. There was so much she wanted that sheâd probably get fat from eating all those sweets. âIâd like to see you try that,â she chuckled, at the thought of her eating with her feet. âThe universe made us the perfect duo,â she declared, as she just helped Chloe up before quickly cleaning up the noodles everywhere. âLetâs go get us some cake,â she announced, Ava was going to be cautious with Lena when they brought the cake mixes and maybe one premade.
Chloe pointed a concurring finger at her friend, âOnly enough to sustain the family,â she agreed. the girlâs had spent all of their saved up change and dollars for the house, so right now they were flat broke. But it didnât matter to Chloe, she knew how to get what she wanted and how to keep the other girl;s comfortable and happy, and thatâs all that mattered to her. âOh no! what will I do without hands!âł she exclaimed, playing along with the overly noisy and dramatic scene. She rocked back at forth on her feet, making the girl behind her sway, âAva! Ava Anderson is the best at everything! Except being alpha which was weird random happenstance where she got second place in a system malfunction!â
Ava pretty much made a motion as if to bite her finger, playfully. âLetâs get cake mixes next time,â she said, âIâve been craving chocolate lately,â she still held onto Chloe as she told the girl. Stealing was fine for now and if a job opened up and she wasnât busy, Ava would take it up. However, some stuff were expensive and she wouldnât feel to bad taking some stuff. âYouâll eat with your feet,â Ava suggested, laughing a little bit. After saying she was the best, Ava just let her go âThatâs true,â putting her hands on her hips. âWell, they were working so hard on you that they missed a few parts for me,â she joked, winking at her alpha, best friend, and slash sister.
âOkay, so⊠this makes no sense. I canât⊠Look, Iâm just not good at English. I speak it just fine why do I have to know half of these words. When am I going to use⊠precocious in life. This is stupid.â Isaac shoved the work book away from him. Salvaging his English grade wasnât going to be an option, maybe he should just drop out and get a trade skill and metal work or something.
âYouâll say that now but when Iâm done, youâll understand perfectly fine,â Ava said as he pretty much called English stupid. She just looked at him and just shook her head. âI understand if you said math but english is just as important,â she stated âThere are people older than us who canât spell or even write a proper paper,â putting her hands on her hips.
âOh come on, Va, donât be that way! You know I can just go steal some more food from Walmart like I always do! They make it too easy!â she whined, trying to inch around the counter to an escape route, âOr eating my hand!â she shouted. As Ava approached her she squealed and tried to dodge out of the way, only to be hugged from behind and shook violently, but not painfully, âOh! No oh god no! sheâs got me in the death trap! Uncle! Uncle!â
"True but donât steal all the time,â she said, they didnât have the money so she didnât really object to it and she didnât want to get a job just yet. Rubbing her hands together, she only laughed âNext is your left hand,â all evil like. Just messing around with Chloe, Ava just squeezed her in her arms and shouted âNot until you say whose number one in everything.. well except being an alpha,â she laughed.
âYou donât have to lecture me in eating! I know where food should go, but that doesnât mean itâs gonna go there!â retorted Chloe teasingly, âI would never put my hand anywhere near her mouth, especially if itâs holding food, I wouldnât want to risk losing it!â she joked, protecting herself from Avaâs giddy wrath, from behind the kitchen counter, âAnd I will continue to run out, so donât even start!â  her playfully smile sank into sincerity, âYou know Iâd never do that to you. I can have my betas going crazy,â then the mischievous grin returned and she mockingly sunk to her knees in false fear and agony, âOh god no! Iâm going to die by ravenous raptor harpy!âÂ
"If you keep playing with it than we wonât have anything to eat,â she said, leaning against the counter as Chloe playfully hid from her. She only laughed and said âYour worst nightmare, Lena eating out of your hand like itâs a bowl,â which didnât sound fun. âBetter not,â she warned her, wagging her pointer finger at Chloe. Pretending to be scared, she just ran over to only shake Chloes shoulders âJust so long as you donât make me mad than you wonât have to face it,â she laughed.
"Thatâs right!â Ava cheered âYou got that answer right so try something harder,â shoves a piece of paper with an even harder question.
