In late 2007, after getting my very first 4GB ipod with the screen, I downloaded Lecrae's "Praying for you" music video. The images are still vivid in my brain, I remember all the words, all the scenes, and Lecrae's gorgeous green snap back (that's when I knew I loved green). Everyone who came in close proximity of me was forced to watch the whole 3 mins and 20 seconds of the video [true story] and half way through I'd say "He's a Christian! This is christian rap!" I was so proud. In 2015, although I can't really say I was an ardent fan since then, I've followed his career; bought his albums- Rebel and Rehab topping my favorites chart. His journey was an amazing one to behold. He was by no means unknown back then, but has he come a long way? The genre has come a long way! Through it all I see God's faithfulness, and he has given him the strength, ability and grace to be a voice to this generation. Regardless of what anyone says, for me he has been a great man of God to look up to/a great example, his songs have given me a better/clean/christian alternative and have influenced my life. More than that he has opened doors for the many that came after him ... working for the kingdom of God. Thank you for being such a great steward. God is the one who rewards, but I'd like to express my gratitude. It's great to see you reach the masses... tread in uncharted territoties.
