Tips That Can Save Your Kid’s Life.
THIS IS IMPORTANT
When I was a child, from the time I was about four and could understand things, my mom told me and my brother that we should have a secret word. That way, if we were ever in trouble or felt unsafe and we didn’t want the people around us to know we needed her to come get us, we could let her know. So she let us pick the word and my brother and I chose the phrase “peanut butter cups.” (I’m happy to share the phrase now since both my brother and I are adults now).
I used the phrase twice in my life. Once, I was at a friends house when I eight years old. Her dad got really drunk and was throwing things against the wall. I was really scared and I didn’t want to draw attention to myself on the phone when I called my mom to come get me because I didn’t know if he would get more violent if I asked her to come get me. So I called her and was calm and after a couple minutes I asked “Hey mommy, did you get me those peanut butter cups from the store?” And she said “I’ll be right there.” And she came and got me within minutes.
Second, I was a teenager spending the night at a friends house. Her brother and dad were drinking and they started talking about things that made me uncomfortable - ie: what they liked to do to women. My friend didn’t seem perturbed and said that was normal for them and that I shouldn’t worry. But I was worried because they were really drunk and I was 15 and the only ‘woman’ around that wasn’t related to them. I went in my friends room, told her I needed to call my mom and say goodnight. Before I hung up with her I asked “Next time we go to the store, can we get some peanut butters cups? I’ve been craving them.” And she came and got me, just like that.
Two incidents, one as a young child, one years later as a teen. Don’t discredit this stuff, it fucking works. My brother used it a few times too. Let your child pick the word and no never, ever, ever, ever get mad at them for using it no matter what it is.
DO NOT SCROLL PAST THAT.

#STOP AMERICANISING JESUS
He was a Jew. He was Palestinian. He was Brown. He was anti-colonialism. He was anti-cultural appropriation. He taught socialism and sharing. He loved sinners, including prostitutes, tax collectors (thieves of the day), divorcées (sluts of the day) and murderers. Some of the people he respected and loves the most were women. He was for racial equality.
He was NOT apple pie, white, blond, capitalist, meninist, anti-immigrant, shaming, antisemitic, racist, gay-bashing, or a fan of basically anything Donald Trump.
This post is just such a mess lmao
I like how OP just lists stuff and doesn’t back up their highly flawed argument
Debunking time? Debunking time. Parts of this post are true and parts are just flat wrong, which is what makes it dangerous, and worth spending time addressing individually.
He was a Jew. Yes, but you’re treating “Jew” like a monolithic term. Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Coptic, Kurdish, Ethiopian, Chinese, what sort of Jew?
He was Palestinian. Completely false. Palestine comes from the ancient word Philistia, meaning “Land of the Philistines.” Let me clarify for you, the Philistines and tribes of Israel warred for generations, and hated one another. He was from the tribe of Benjamin, once again, not in ancient Philistia.
He was brown. Here’s where a history lesson is important. We really don’t have any idea as to his skin color, eye color, or hair color. It’s exceedingly difficult to guess what people looked like in the ancient levant. When you say, he was brown, I’m assuming you meant he looked “Middle Eastern.” And the problem with this analysis is found in the fact that Arabic ethnicity dominates modern middle eastern phenotypes based off a pretty important series of events starting in 623AD. Arab conquest of the middle east and north africa makes these modern regions very ethnically similar. At the same time, it more or less erased the ethnicities of the ancients that lived in these areas. However, once you get out of the areas taken by that expansion, you see that there are many and varied ethnic groups, many of which look quite dissimilar to one another.

I didn’t include any pictures of Ashkenazi Jews but you know they are quite varied in appearance as well. Basically, Jesus could have looked ethnically similar to a great many of these people and you cannot certainly judge ancient phenotypes from modern populations. That’d be like saying ancient North Americans look like the average modern North American.
He was anti-colonialism. [Citation needed]
He was anti-cultural appropriation. [Citation needed] Actually, this is silly. It’s something that doesn’t even exist. And even if it did exist, it didn’t exist then.
He taught socialism and sharing. Woah there Karl Marx. I’ve never heard “give to the government that they might redistribute to those who have less, as they see fit.” (That phrase must come from the Democrat bible). He did teach charity to the poor; this is true. And charity is a virtue. But, what part of voluntarily giving some of your wealth to others who have not involves forcible redistribution by a governmental third party? Charity never involves coercion. If it involves coercion, it’s theft. Here’s a bit of clarification from 2nd Corinthians 9:7 “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” (emphasis mine).
He loved sinners, including prostitutes, tax collectors (thieves of the day), divorcées (sluts of the day) and murderers. Right, he did. Loving everyone is a big part of Jesus’s thing. And Christians who seek to, you know, emulate Christ should do the same thing. (Note, he did not condone prostitution, theft, divorce, or murder; he just loved people, regardless of the sinful things that marred their past. Loving an addict is not the same thing as loving addiction. Keep this in mind.)
Some of the people he respected and loves the most were women. Yes, you’re right. Since the original post was about Americanized Jesus, I have to ask, since when has America not loved women (compared to other nations historically)?
He was for racial equality. Yes, one can infer that certainly. Once again, l’ll turn to the a letter of Paul’s for some textual back up, Colossians 3:11. “Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.”
He was NOT apple pie, white, blond, capitalist, meninist, anti-immigrant, shaming, antisemitic, racist, gay-bashing, or a fan of basically anything Donald Trump. There was no such thing as apple pie in ancient Judea. We don’t know his skin color, although it is possible he was white by tumblr standards. We don’t know his hair color, although it’s not impossible he was blond. Capitalism as we know it didn’t exist in ancient Judea. Meninism is from a parody twitter account. Shaming? Tumblr didn’t exist in ancient Judea. He was certainly not a racist. And once again, Donald Trump didn’t exist until 1946.
However all of this misses the boat entirely. I don’t have a bit of a problem with an Americanized visual depiction of Jesus, because I don’t have a problem with a visually Chinese Jesus, or a visually African Jesus, or a visually Native American Jesus. Images are not what is worshipped; He is worshipped. The worship of images is idolatry, but if an ethnic depiction of Jesus helps reach people of different ethnicities, it’s completely fine.
Get rekt, OP.

I think my favourite thing about this is the poor guy asking them not to do this again. how many times has this happened. he knew what was going to happen at the start. is this a regular occurrence
ok but if moana and honey lemon are both apparently just slightly tweaked copies of rapunzel like… wouldn’t you think they’d look at least slightly similar to each other as well if that were actually the case
People are saying they’re tweaked copies off Rapunzel? Why and how ? People just can’t be pleased no matter what lol.

Because you’re in a European-style church, yo. Christian art depeicts Jesus and the other Biblical figures as whatever the race of the artist/region is. Don’t believe me?
Here’s a Chinese painting of the Baptism of Christ:
Here is a Native American painting of the Nativity:
Here’s a painting of Jesus giving a sermon by a Kenyan artist:
And, lastly, here’s a European painting of Jesus healing the blind:
If you live in a country or region where the culture is primarily European, expect to have that reflected in the art you see.
I love this post.
I remember we learned about this in history, how if an area is primarily one culture, their art and religious works will depict that - even if it is something globally shared (such as some religions, such as Christianity). Asia has Jesus depicted as Asian. Africa has him depicted as African and Europe has him depicted as European. When a lot of this art was made, especially these older pieces, many people didn’t think about race as strongly as we do today, and many artists probably didn’t even know of certain races and cultures at the time the art was created.
