another (useless) mash timeline note is that in s02e04 for the good of the outfit, the epilogue sees hawkeye finally receiving his father's response in a letter dated may 24, 1951.

of course hawkeye nearly drowning as a child is an allegory for csa. much to say on this.

#my tags are about to get very personal and graphic so don’t read it if you’re not ready for it but i think a big reason i jumped to that #conclusion myself was because my csa started with swimming #so seeing the trauma he had around water made me pick up on other so called signs #yknow? like his general vibe long before that episode i saw a lot of similar traits in myself #even going as far as another ailment (in his case sneezing in my case chronic stomach issues) as a physical manifestation #of our mental reactions to our trauma etc etc #another thing i related to was he didn’t remember. i couldn’t remember either i saw it in my childhood diary as a teen after it had ended #idk much to say on this plotline but everyone I’ve talked to about that was also a victim of csa also immediately picked up on it so I’ll #probsbly spend the entire rest of my life wondering if it was intentional or not

I've been on & off watching MASH because a friend really likes it.

My favorite shot in the entire show looks like this:

After a long long merciless day of surgeries, one doctor, Hawkeye, says this: "I hate sunrise, and those damn birds will start singing in a minute. Who are they to remind us of happiness?"

And then a friend of his, Radar, responds with: "You go back on again in an hour."

And the shot just stays like that. It feels so hopeless and I'm glad they chose this shot for this specific piece of dialogue.
