sometime I just think about how easy it would be to market superheroes toward little girls and I am filled with rage

like do these people not realize how fucking easy this shit would be

there’s the dazzler she’s like a popstar and a superhero do you know how many 4-12 year old girls would dig that shit

there’s the wasp and her superpowers are seriously like zapping jerks, flying, and being cuter than everybody else. also she’s a famous fashion designer. and she’s better than you. (like she shrinks and stuff too but mainly her power is being better than you)

she-hulk is like this nerdy chick with the power to get bigger and greener and be spontaneously tougher than everybody in the vicinity like I don’t even know a little girl who wouldn’t slit someone’s throat for the ability to be stronger than all the boys when they pissed her off

My point is that’s it’s so fucking easy so chop-chop, Marvel, get on it. Seriously, I went ten years of my life thinking superheroes were boys. That’s ten years of you not profiting off of my inability to refrain from buying even the crappiest merchandise you offer if it has a character I love on it. Little girls are an enormous market; they will buy all your shit if you just suggest to them that maybe they’d like to.

or you could just keep on not profiting when you could be making money selling literally any object that has enough space to plaster a female superhero’s face on it. that’s cool too.

Some members of the DC fandom trying to play"But The Killing Joke gave us Oracle!!“ card is really bullshit since Oracle only came to be because Kim Yale & her husband got extremely pissed at what was done to Babs. They’re the ones who made oracle. If not for them then Babs would have been just another victim who faded off into the background. 

TKJ is, obviously and unfortunately, connected to the origin of Oracle but it deserves none of the credit for creating Oracle and revitalizing interest in Barbara Gordon as a hero. There was never any intention, from what we currently know, that Babs would ever be used as a substantial character again or if she would end up limbo’d until there’s a need for Jim Gordon/Batman angst.

The killing joke was supposed to put an “end” to Babs as a hero for good. She was just a plot point in the book. A plot point that could have destroyed her career as a usable character for years to come if not for Kim & John.They’re the ones who saved her and gave the world Oracle.

So no, The Killing Joke is not what gave us Oracle. If anything it’s the book that tried to get rid of Barbara Gordon for good. 

When people think of Oracle, they should think of Kim Yale & John Ostrander first and foremost.

I hated this movie for the simple fact they didn't have the common sense to treat Batgirl with the same respect they did for Robin in the previous movie. They changed her last name. Who she was related to and they took away her cowl and have her a mask like Robin.

Giving Stephanie another chance

While I'm still not a big fan of her. It seems alot of people are. So if DC did bring her back in some way. I would give her another shot to win me over to her side. I don't know much about her time is Spoiler. My intro to her was when she became Robin. I think I would have liked her better or not disliked her so much if she wasn't trying to fill the shoes of an established Bat family mantle. She should be herself and her own hero. Not as Robin or Batgirl. That would be like Tim trying to be Batman. It just isn't going to work.
