it was a 9 year battle against the eviction of a building that housed mostly elderly, low income immigrant asians.

it was an intergenerational struggle that helped form the identity of "asian american" through radical political thought and action and art.

it culminated on a thursday night at 4am when 400 city police arrived with horses and clubs, and 2000 san franciscans linked arms with each other and formed a human barricade to protect the tenants.

the police beat them the the ground. they evicted every last tenant. they took their possessions. they demolished the building 4 years later.
