AITA For telling my brother his ex killed herself so he could come home now.
It sounds bad but I truly think I did the right thing. I got a call from sister Amy (names changed) that our brother's (Ed) ex gf jumped off a cliff, Brittney was a very troubled girl who didn't/doesn't understand how complex our family is and how she poses as a risk. Anyway, Amy said she was going to Brittney's to help her Dad plan the funeral. I then made the call to Ed. It was quick.
The issue is it turned out he was planning to end it all when she died (she isn't/wasn't sick with anything. He just thinks an asteroid is gonna kill her at any moment.) Well after I had made the call and kind of given him a go ahead (unintentionally) Amy called me saying Brittney was alive and there had been a misunderstanding but Ed was already gone, he had called the house to talk to Chuck, Brittney's Dad. The guy who answered was rude and said Chuck was at a funeral. Amy and Brittney had to rush to Italy to stop him from ending it.
I thought I was doing the right thing and they ended up back together and engaged so I feel did them a favor at the very end of the day. AITA?
