Ward hands the gun to Kara and Bobbi prays that she’ll just shoot it, just end it all, end it so Bobbi can finally stop hurting people. She’s made her peace with death. It’s the living that she’s really afraid of. “This isn’t right,” Kara says quietly and Bobbi wants to scream. “I’m not feeling it, she doesn’t care if she dies, and she’s not sorry.” (Bobbi is sorry, sorry for a million things, but that wouldn’t have changed anything. And Bobbi isn’t going to give in to them.)

the thing when marvel tries to write women is that 90% of the time they attempt to write a “strong female character,” whether for male fantasy or hashtag girlboss reasons, who ends up as little more than a cardboard cutout on legs. but somehow the other 10% of the time they absolutely nail it, not when they try to make the character perfect, but when they give her a huge moral failing. daisy is simultaneously self-destructive and self-righteous. peggy is reckless, short-tempered, and sometimes downright mean. may is taciturn and emotionally closed off. shuri actually acts like a sixteen-year-old girl. sharon is ambitious (not a flaw in its own right, but she takes it to extremes) and cynical. jess is a fucking asshole to more or less everyone she’s ever met. jemma can be dangerously myopic. okoye starts the film as more loyal to an organization than any one person. yoyo is blunt and irrepressible. kate is impulsive and self-centered. xialing is sarcastic and ruthless. valkyrie is grumpy and distrustful. they are not perfect. they’re not even close. but they’re some of the best female characters marvel’s written because they are real women with real flaws. you cannot write a strong character of any gender without making them realistic. strong does not mean perfect or badass or “one of the guys.” strong means real

hi sorry this is kinda random, but i've been meaning to get into reading comics specifically ones w natasha centric stuff, and if i remember correctly you've read some, so i was wondering if u have any rec on where to start (its kinda overwhelming afhsdf theres so many and i dont really have any base knowledge so dont know where to start without being completely lost) also if there are any sites or something to pirate stuff im like. broke lmao ahh tysm have a good day <3

YESSS!! Thank you sm for asking Anon! I started off with the BW 2015 (Phil Noto Run) Comics and I’d say they’re a pretty great starting off point! It’s a solo run that’s pretty much solely Natasha focused, there’s other characters but you should be able to follow along regardless (save for maybe like one of the last issues). The storyline is based on her need to redeem herself from her past actions in the Red Room and slowly learn to open up again, starting with a beloved lil cat Liho <3 Plus the art is gorgeous and I think this run was truly the one to make me fall in love with comics.

I genuinely really enjoyed the BW 2020 (Thompson run) comics as well! Ik a lot of people had negative things to say about it but I think it works very well with a different kind of Natasha, one that’s more open and similar to the MCU Natasha I’d say. And a great bonus for MCU fans who enjoyed Yelena and Nat’s dynamic in the BW movie cause Yelena is back! And they’ve got a very sisterly bond in this run.

Third, I’d say the BW 2016 (Waid & Samnee run) is a real interesting one! You really get a good look into Natasha’s character and the storyline is thrilling and honestly spectacular. It’s been a while since I’ve read this one so I don’t wanna say too much in case I say the wrong thing XD, definitely worth a read too!
