Hello! my name is Lauren, and this blog is a collection of my work over the four years I have been at university studying Animation. I have mainly studied 2d animation, though I do have interests in 3d as well. I adore life drawing, and I love creating stories!

I only have today to work on this, so I hope this is okay. If I get the go ahead, it’s time to colour/tidy.

The etching took a lot less time than I thought it would. It’s still rough and blotchy, but I don’t mind it being that way. So here is today’s work. Clean up, Colour, Shadows, Highlight and Etching. Was pretty fun, but also knackering :)

I decided to do some more work for finishing a scene. So I picked the easiest and shortest scene I had. Still have a lot of work to do on this. But at least I have block colours and some shading. I have a lot of ideas for this. Need to try some of them out though.

Cleaned and roughly coloured. I want to get a shimmer on the water, and some sparkles on the stone... it’s just finding the time before hand in.

Trying my hand at water animation today. Here is my first attempted. I only did three arms to the splash to make it easy, but I think I need to add more.

I managed to get more work done on Selkie over the past two days :) Tomorrow I will be frantically working on Dodeca though. So today I’ll do as much as I can.

So organising has become my life for now. I feel like i’m getting no work done! But, today, I took a break and did some hand sketches. Probably should do more, but I hear sims calling me. Muaha.

I coloured and worked on my roughs a bit more. Got Lars and Zana still in there too just to show the whole scene :D. Not long now!

It is finally here! 

For university, I had to create an Art Book (I could’ve used a showreel but I wanted the book) to show off my storyboards. I spent a lot of time making this, perhaps too much... but I do believe it was worth it! 

Several people have been asking if I’m going to sell these, but it’s not really viable. For a hard back it costs £30 odd just to print it, so I don’t think I’ll be doing that! 

This has been an expensive venture, but it’s what I wanted. Plus I printed a softback for the university to keep. When I was making this I could have really used an example of a previous one...but there were none. Which is why I printed extra. [Also, the Mother wants one lol]

This didn’t take as long as I’d thought to colour. But here is the mist shot coloured. We’ve put an off-white background on so far. That may change, but so far it’s look pretty good :)

Finally done the animation for this scene. I still have her hair and the skin to do. But now I have the exact timing! :)

I think I’m going to have to put Selkie on hold until Dodeca is finished, but it means that I probably won’t get the whole thing roughly inbetweened for hand in *sad face*. But my plan is to continue to work on it after uni has finished. So hopefully... one day... it’ll be done.

I’ve had to take on another scene to help with the load :) So here it is so far! Not been at it long. I’m going to get her coming in better before I go to bed :P

Two more done today. Left took an hour, right took an hour and 30! Seem to be getting better though. :)

I’ve not done many drawings on the computer, sounds strange because I’m on it all day, every day, working in photoshop. But I haven’t. All I’ve really done is uni work, so today I decided to try my hand at some colour life drawings. I just went onto pinterest and looked up “Portraits” and these two stuck out to me. The one on the left was my first, and the left my second. Really enjoyed these, I’ve never been one for using colour, but that may change... :D I’ve already looked out about 10 more than I want to do... but my hand does hurt now so I think it’s time for a break!
