Here’s the poll!
It’s tied between Benson and Greg Universe!
I’ll keep this open for another hour! Benson is in first place, with Mordecai following close behind!

Help Me Choose My Next Muse
http://www.strawpoll.me/12138518 Here's the poll!
Thinking about taking on a 2nd role-play blog when I have more free time this weekend, I'll set up a poll for the choosing of my next muse!
Just a reminder that if I don’t reply to a thread, it’s either because I’m way too swamped with life or simply too unmotivated to reply to too many threads. Another reason is that I’m just not sure how to respond, and have to think about it until it comes to me!

“Is that blood?”
It was late, even for Johnny, and that’s why Pete was still up in the first place. Sure, he knew his son could take care of himself... but, he was still a dad, and even if he wasn’t the best dad, much to his ignorance, he still worried from time to time.
Well, it turned out it was a good thing he stayed up anyway, because he could easily detect the blood prominent on his son.
“Johnny, answer me.” He asked, his tone hardly angry, but concerned and worried.

Pete wasn’t one to be out in public, not with the publicity that came with his job, but the garage was running out of groceries. His first instinct was to get Johnny to do it, but he couldn’t find the boy anywhere, which meant he probably already knew the supplies were running low, and that his father would give him the annoying task.
So, it was up to him, though it really was something he hardly did. He would even make members of the gang get groceries for him, but they were also (conveniently) nowhere to be found.
Which is why he found himself facing the supermarket, only bothering to disguise himself with dark sunglasses… and, reluctantly, remove his rings. Just in case. Anyone could recognize anyone.
But, maybe, just maybe, he should’ve been paying more attention, as, after taking just a step into the large building, he felt a prick at his legs.
“What the-?” He stopped himself, looking down, and finding a couple of quills slightly impaled into his leg. The source, a porcupine, didn’t even seem to notice.
Thankfully, he had developed a high pain tolerance over the years, but that didn’t stop him from saying something.
“Excuse me, watch yourself.”
Ash loved her quills, but besides her, they didn’t have many fans. She had the tendency to shed easier than other porcupines, so she often left a trail wherever she went. It annoyed her when other animals complained. They always made it sound like she did it on purpose. Ash never had, what jerk just shakes their head on purpose to pinch others with their quills? Well, Lance did once at a booing crowd. She shook any thought of him away, focusing on the current suggestion. Ash lets out a long sigh, faced away from Pete. “Look, I can’t control it—” As she began to speak, she turned around to face whatever animal was behind her. Ash was surprised to see it was a gorilla well above her height. She tried to stand her ground, but she was very much intimidated by the height difference. “…Uuuuh…Yeah. Sorry about…that.”
She added quickly, and continued to look up at the other animal. Ash was frozen in place, almost too nervous to move. She would probably regret not moving later.
Pete looked down at the small mammal, and eyebrow raised. Sometimes, he did forget about how big he was in comparison to some animals, since he was just used to his own size.
“Hm.” He sounded a small grunt, before reaching down and pulling the couple of quills out of his leg. “Am I supposed to give these back or somethin’?” He asked, tone still gruff with a hint of annoyance.
He could tell she looked... frozen... and he was getting the hint why, but not quite. “Come on, I haven’t got all day.” He urged, looking around for any signs of cops... or rivals in general. He never could tell with that one gang of chickens.

“Dad, please, just ‘ear me out, okay?” Johnny knew the backlash he was going to get from his father, but he didn’t care at the moment. He looked as his dad and he knew that he had an unhealthy obsession. As much as he told the gang that this was going to be their last robbery, Johnny could see the glimmer in his father’s eyes that said otherwise.
“I just think you should wait until another heist that ‘as more information than this one.” Lie. What Johnny wanted to say was he didn’t want to go down this pathway of being a criminal all of his life, but if he said that, Johnny would be six feet under by now. “You’re goin’ into this one with blind assumptions, dad. You don’t even know the date the shipment’s comin’ in and your plan seems way too simple f’just a boat shipment.”
His father didn’t say anything, but he could feel the lager from where he stood. He dry gulped and held his hands together, watching his father was hope. “"I…I know you’ve been trainin’ me to drive faster f’this and you think that i’will set us f’life, but I really think you should think about this, dad.”
Pete was surprised at how much doubt his very own son was throwing at this job, at his planning.
“Blind assumptions? Too simple?” Ridiculous, he almost didn’t want to believe his own ears, but the problem was that he did, and his once excited smile had dropped into a small snarl.
“Johnny, just how many jobs have we done now? Jobs that have happened because of me, jobs that I planned through and through?” He asked, doing his best not to start yelling, but kept a low tone nether less. “Jobs that have been successful, and now you’re questioning my ability to do this?”
“We haven’t been caught once. Not at all... ‘e’ve had close calls, I’ll admit, but they weren’t close enough.” He felt like he, himself, was in the right, Of course he did. He had been carrying this family after all. It was a mixture of pride and ignorance that made him suddenly resent his son for the words that came from him.
“I have thought about it, and you know it yourself. Is there something more to this?”

Imstillstanding: “You really, really don’t want to do this.”
Pete stopped himself, looking at his son. “Just what do you mean by that? Do you think there’s any choice in this, Johnny?” He asked, his tone more curious than judgmental. Not yet anyway.
“This job is too big to pass up, and you know that perfectly well, otherwise I didn’t raise you right.” He joked lightly, though there was a twinge of seriousness in his voice.
This job would change everything, maybe so they wouldn’t have to do another job in awhile, but that was a lie. Who knows how many times he’s told himself and the gang that same thing. Each job was getting bigger than the last, it was almost an obsession.
Of course it was, however, he was obsessed with this lifestyle. Obsessed with providing his family with riches, no matter what he had to do to achieve that. Sure, it was robberies for the most part, no harm done to anyone. Nothing physical.
… Not counting this next job of course. This would be a game-changer, though it may end in more harm than good. Pete wouldn’t see that, however, he was focused on the end of it all. What lay at the end of the job. A big score.
Maybe that’s why he wasn’t thinking much about it in that aspect, even if he planned it to the very last detail, he wasn’t focused on the moral part of that. Maybe it was why he wasn’t going to listen to his son.

“I…” Johnny began, but found the words quivered in the back of his throat. It wasn’t an easy answer – there were no easy answers, when it came to everything that his father had done. Why had he said that, and why had his father asked his own question back to him? Tears stung at the corner of his eyes, blinked away only after he had sucked in a deep breath. He had to be calm, and he had to make every word count. They only had a few moments, before he’d be taken away.
“You…bein’ here’s already a step in the right direction, Dad, I…I know that couldn’t of been easy t’make happen…” Johnny mumbled, with a quiet, sheepish, laugh. “It’s…m’just glad t’see you. Here, now. It…y’couldn’t of done anythin’ better, for me. I wanted you t’see me play – I wanted you t’know it’s…it wasn’t just some mistake I’d made. It means…everythin’, t’me – singin’s’ all I want.”
“…I don’t know ‘bout bein’ a good person, Dad – m’not sure if I even qualify. But…the fact that you’re thinkin’ ‘bout it means somethin’. It means you’re already tryin’, in a small way. And…and I’ll come visit you, whenever I can, and…we can keep talkin’ through it. One day at a time, right? ‘cause you are my Dad, and I won’t just leave y’there – I’ll help y’any way I can.”
“You’ve always been better than me, son.” He didn’t hesitate to state, closing his eyes for a moment. Like his mother.
“I may not be good, I may not even come close, but you’ve always been better than good.” Much better, “Even with everything you did for the gang, things I made you do, you’ve always been innocent. No matter what.
He tried to get a better look at his son in that instance, picturing him back when he was just a young ape, and remembering doing his best to parent such a small thing. But, it wasn’t enough.
He’d grown so much, but he couldn’t understand why it was in this moment he was taking notice of that? It made sense, but it wasn’t hitting him immediately. Where had the time gone? Why hadn’t he realized it sooner? Maybe then, everything would have been different. For the better.
“You forgiving me for everything I’ve done... you don’t have to do that, I don’t expect you to... but it- it would mean everything, Johnny. One day at a time.” He nodded in agreement, only wishing he would have more time now with his son.
“I’m so proud of you, and... your mother, would be so proud. I just know it.”
Things would’ve gone differently if she was still here. Things would’ve been perfect.
@theatricalaspiration
“I’m sorry, and who are you?” The ape asked, a fair amount of suspicion in his voice, mixed in with an intimidating raised eyebrow.
Maybe he had an idea of who he was, but it wasn’t a very good one. “The little bear who influenced my son to sing?” He asked again, voice raised, and more prodding.
It wasn’t his intention to come off this brashly, but it was in his nature as well.
Just a heads up that I’m not going to get to every starter! Already have quite a few, and, as a student, I don’t want to make too many commitments to too many threads, otherwise I’ll just get overwhelmed and put off doing any of them. I’ll keep the max of threads I’ll do at a time to 5!
Eventually, once those threads wear thin, I’ll start a new thread with a new person! So don’t feel bad if I don’t get to your starter, I’ll keep it in mind!
