During slavery, the masters assured everyone that slavery was necessary to protect black people because, without it, they'd loose their homes and their livelihoods.

"We're protecting you! We care about your well-being! we put a roof over your head and food in your plates!" you screamed, all the while the horrors of slavery ensued.

That's exactly what It sounds like to me when people say "isn't it tiring to educate people all the time? I'm protecting your well-being by not listening to you and seeking other (white) sources instead!". You're not protecting me from anything. You're choosing to ignore our voices, all while we're actively telling you to listen to us, and only protecting your own white comfort by avoiding the necessary lessons, confrontations and discussions.

You're choosing to avoid the discomfort that approaching us and including us, actively engaging with us, learning from us would take for you personally. And as long as your comfort is more important than our lives, you're not on our side.

You can learn, absorb, and utilize all of the leftist, egalitarian, revolutionary jargon in the world, but if you won't treat marginalized peoples and people of color as your equals, if you won't treat them with decency and respect, if you won't accept criticism from them, if you willfully misrepresent them and paint them with generalizations and stereotypes, if you won't hear them and choose instead to dismiss them, then it does not matter how you dress it up, you are still upholding and contributing to white supremacy.

A little tip for any witches with roses in their gardens:

When working with rosebushes in the garden, if any thorns pierce you and stay in place in your flesh, that is the number of people working against you, wishing you harm, or speaking ill of you. Keep the thorn(s). Take it/them to your spirit house/spirit vessels or magical work station. Give it to the spirits and let them take care of it, or include it in a baneful work/return to sender work/protection work about the situation. Alternatively, the thorn(s) can be included in protective amulets or charm bags. 🌹🩸🌹
