âIâm sorry, fight? Like you battle with these things and they donât fall apart?âÂ
âI mean if you lose, then yeah,â Hiro laughed.
frostyperri:
âD-does he still hate them?â Perri asked. She never disliked Tinkâs machines. If anything, she thought they were cool. Now, the thought made her tear up and, obviously, cry.

âOh, well...â He said, not sure what exactly he should say, âI hope not since heâs kinda not... alive,â he looked down at his feet. This was actually the first time since it happened that he had even mentioned his brother, let alone his death. He felt a little burn in his eyes and tried his best to push everything out of his mind.Â
frostyperri:
She looked up at Hiro and shook her head. âNo,â she tried to wipe the tears from her eyes as she looked back down at the machine. âMy sister,â her heart felt tight again, âshe used to build robots and stuff.â Perri sucked back a sob and slowly backed away.

Hiro didnât know what to say to the girl when she started crying, when she mentioned her sister though he understood why she reacted the way she did. âOh...â He got up from the place he was sitting and took a couple steps towards her, âthatâs cool... My brother used to hate these things....âÂ
kent-cogssworthh:
Raising a brow, Kent lifted his eyebrows. âNot really. Youâre just sitting watching them. But sure.âÂ
âYeah well, itâs usually more fun when thereâs another person to actually fight.â Hiro shrugged, âbut no one at this lame school seems to build bots.â
xx-divamarie:
Marie watched the other and couldnât help but shake her head. âYou know thatâs going to fire your brain.â She let out looking down at her nails for a second. Â
Hiro furrowed his eyebrow, âpretty sure youâre thinking about video games, and I donât remember asking for your opinion anyway.âÂ
fauna-benevolia:
Fauna had just finished dropping off cupcakes at the other houses, and was about to drop some off to her friends in Horned Serpent. âThose look so cool!â She gasped, unable to stop herself from racing over to where the boy was.Â
âThanks...â He said wearily, seeing who it was he quickly brought it back over to where he was. He didnât know the girl to well but she just seemed like the type to break things easily. âDo you like bots?â
kent-cogssworthh:
Kent hear something moving about and he had to figure out what it was. It was just how he worked, searching for answers so he wasnât left wondering. As he rounded the corner he nodded a little. âHaving fun?âÂ
Hiro looked up at the guy, not sure if he was being sarcastic or not with his question he responded, âcanât you tell?â He answered the question with a question.Â
frostyperri:
Perri adjusted her bag as she slung it onto her shoulder. It was another day. She was still feeling dead inside but she was expected to still show up to class. Her sister just died and it was like no one cared. Nothing. Nada. Zlich. So, if that was the case, that was how she was going to feel.
She left the house and was confronted by the truth. She wasnât ready not to feel. She saw Hiro sitting there with bots. Tink wouldâve loved them. Her heart clamped down as the tears threatened to fall from the corners of her eyes. She couldnât speak. She just stood there staring at the little machines.

It took Hiro a moment but when he finally looked up and saw a girl staring at him it threw him off. He stopped what he was doing immediately and waited to see if she was just going to pass by like everyone else, when she didnât he decided to say something. âCan I help you...?â He asked her, wondering if maybe there was just something she needed.
Somehow Hiro managed, against his aunts wishes, to sneak a couple of his bots with him to school. He figured he could continue working on them and maybe even find someone who was interested in bot fighting like he was. So far though it seemed like he was the only at this nerd school to be interested in it. So he sat out front of the Horned Serpent house and tested out his newest bot by himself.
The night before was suppose to be magical, her crowning moment where people finally saw Mabel for the real queen she was. Hours were put into her dress, she figured he had a boyfriend, and .. she was the only runner for Queen that was shunned out in the dark. Well she was going to show them. Mabel had one of her sweaters crafted to perfection as always with a gigantic crown that had two different light settings. Chasing neon ones, and bright flashing ones. Walking down the halls she grinned as she caught someoneâs attention. âI can crown myself, since our school likes to leave others out. This crown is a million times better though, look at the lights!â She shouted switching settings to the chasing ones. âHa.. pretty spiffy, right?âÂ
Hiro didnât care much for the dance last night, he didnât really have too many friends and even if he did he wasnât really one to go to events. He did however hear about how Cato decided to crown 3 sets of royalty, and that only two of the three nominated girls were a part of that. So when he saw Mabel in the hallway he couldnât help but stare at her retaliation, it was both funny and a little pitiful at the same time. âUm, sure...â He replied, not really sure what else he should say to her.Â
fauna-benevolia:
She perked up, âDoes that mean they taste like the ones your aunt makes?â
âUm, not exactly... I think she puts a little bit more sugar in them,â Hiro nodded his head, trying really hard to not lie to her or hurt her feelings.
fauna-benevolia:
Faun smiled, until she saw the boys face. It was the same look her sister Flora had when she didnât want to tell her how bad they were. âYou donât like it do you?âÂ
âWell... My aunt owns a bakery and they just made me a little homesick,â he said, partially telling the truth.Â
âWant a cupcake?â She offered to the person in front of her. âI made a ton!â Fauna smiled.Â
âOh uh sure!â Hiro took a cupcake from the girl, taking a bite he was put off, heâs used to the cupcakes from his auntâs bakery and these were definitely not them. âThanks,â he said trying to not show on his face how bad they were.
A Sullen Farewell || Self Para
Standing in the room he used to share with his brother he felt a heaviness in his chest. After everything that happened there was no way he wanted to go to that nerd school now, but Aunt Cass thought it would be a good idea and Hiro was starting to feel bad for how much he shut her out. She had lost just as much as he had, but she also lost a part of her youngest nephew the night of the fire as well. The boy didnât mean to shut her out, it just happened, he shut everybody out that night. While he knew it wasnât fair to her but he couldnât help it, she was a talker. Hiro couldnât handle talking about his feelings, he didnât want to hurt her because he knew she was trying her best.
The fire was the best and worst night of his life. Hiro didnât usually get nervous about things, whether it was a test or his bot fights. This was different though, it wasnât just him messing around for fun like usual. He was serious about this conference and wanted to do something amazing, afterall it was Tadashi who convinced him to do it and he wasnât about to let him down. For a week he sat in his room at his desk, staring at his notebook not sure what to do. Everything he came up with wasnât good enough, then finally he figured out he was thinking too big and needed to go smaller. Thatâs how he came up with the nanobots. Still, up until the presentation he kept it secret what he was planning, scared that Tadashi would think it was a bad idea. After the presentation though he was so relieved, not only did everyone there think it was genius but Tadashi did as well. Hiro had never seen his brother so proud of him.
Though he never admitted it out loud he has always aspired to be as great as his older brother is, was. The two used to joke around over which one of them was smarter, of course Hiro would always argue that he was but deep down he knew it was his brother, how could he not be? He regrets that he never got the chance to tell him how he really felt and how much he appreciates him for all he did. Â And now heâs going to his stupid nerd school with his stupid nerd friends, hopefully though it wonât be as bad as being surrounded by all of his possessions. There was one thing he decided to take with him though, Tadashiâs hat. He has no idea why but his brother wore that hat everywhere he went, he even had it with him the night of the fire. Right before he ran back in though he took it off and gave it to Hiro to hold onto. Since that night it had been sitting on Tadashiâs bed but before he left their room the boy grabbed the hat and put on himself. With it he felt like he had a part of his brother going with him, and he needed that to be ok.

Hiro was born in San Francisco to a witch and a no-maj, straddling the line between magic and the non magical worlds, loving and respecting both equally and having very little regard for the rules of each. His parents died when he was very young and he was essentially raised by his witch aunt Cass and big brother Tadashi. He was a difficult child because not only did he feel incredibly lonely and frustrated, he was very smart, too smart for his own good. He got in a lot of trouble, magic bot fighting. He was mostly home schooled, not wanting to go to Tadashiâs nerd school Ilvermorny but he was convinced to go when Tadashi tricked him into checking it out.
Before he enrolled, he was also convinced to use his big brain for something legal and productive so he submitted an invention to the magi-tech and alchemy conference in Boston. He created a ground breaking nano-bot technology but there was a fire and he lost not only his tech but his brother whoâd gone back into the blaze to try and help someone still inside the building. There was no body to bury but his brother was gone. He ended up going to Ilvermorny anyway, despite himself, perhaps trying to be closer to his brother. Little does he know that his tech has fallen into the hands of witch hunters and being used to kill his kind. Will he uncover the truth of what happened the night of the fire and will he be able to stop his invention being used for evil or will he let the weight of what happened crush him?
