I dunno if anyone has said this already but i really appreciate how Royd’s subtitles aren’t anglicized/dumbed down to English. To some it might just seem like they’re making everything phonetic, which is true, but it also calls attention to Royd speaking Hawaiian Pidgin among mainland English speakers.

Idk I just feel like everywhere I look, Natives are being forced to assimilate and everything so the writers and devs having Roy be unapologetically himself in a place he isn’t from, no matter what setting he’s been in, is just so refreshing and uplifting.

Not to mention, they didn’t just make him some stereotypical “lazy hawaiian meathead.” Yeah he’s big and strong, with a kind disposition, but that isn’t all he is. He’s literally rebuilding the Mecha suit, working with the bullshit that gets dumped at their branch and turning it into better things, LITERALLY TRYING TO RECREATE THE ASTRAL PULSE FROM NOTHING.
