“A MAN is not a God. But a man serves one, and Gods can be cruel when they feel insulted.”
“Why are you speaking like that? And I haven’t insulted any God, only you. So are you one of those... sparrows? What are you, exactly?”
“Is that so?” He watched the other, a smile playing on his lips. “Do you plan to try and…pry them from me, my lord?”
“We both know I could... my mouth is talented enough any day,” he murmured with a smirk, turning to face the other man.
He grinned a little at that, half a touch smug. “Two, then. But it’s not as though you have any darker secrets than I…”
“Oh - you’d be surprised what secrets we must keep in court...” he turned, walking to the other side of the room, his fingertips running over a table. “I’m only kidding - nothing is kept secret in the court. Your secrets are much more... alluring.”
“I have faith in you, brother. I always will.”
“The same from me to you, Willas. You know that.”
this was just what robb needed whatever it ‘was.’ he wasn’t completely drunk, but he had enough ale to let his worries briefly slip in the very back of his mind. now his thoughts surrounded the BEAUTIFUL knight in front of him who hadn’t seemed as arrogant as some said he was. but if he was in fact arrogant, it wasn’t as if robb would even notice. or care, for that matter.
to have his head seemingly leveled out and away from the war that waited for him again the next day, right along with the news of theon and his home was nearly a blessing in it’s own. he would definitely thank the gods for this.
and the fact that loras had not brought up his home being seized by his very own ally had even furthered the proof that this was the type of person he preferred to have in his company. SMIRKING still, robb set his cup that he previously clutched on the nearest table before returning to loras, inches away from him.
❝ do that. your opinion and your standards are quite important to me now. ❞
truthfully, when it came to attraction, robb wasn’t the most subtle when hiding it. he was always quite obvious in his eyes and in theon’s too, who often called him out on his crushes before robb ever even admitted to them back when they were all happy in winterfell.
❝ swearing yourself to someone requires bravery in itself. picking up the sword requires it, and from what i’ve seen, i’d say you’re better than just good. ❞
purposely, he chose to ignore the death aspect of being sworn to someone, as he typically tried not to think about how many men he was responsible for, the thousands and thousands of fates he held in his hands.
quickly focusing on the more desirous matters at hand, robb let his hand drop from the other’s cheek, but only so that he could take a big sip of loras’ wine. hopefully that would help with the taste. after setting that cup away as well, a gentle but strong hand rested on loras’ lower back to bring the two of them chest to chest, & with a leaned tilt of his head, he was finally able to feel the curves of loras’ lips on his.
His golden Tyrell eyes followed Robb’s every slight movement around the tent, his wine clutched in his right hand, his left locked at the base of his spine. He enjoyed the King’s company, very much so. Anyone in their right mind would feel the same way. His voice was so soft, so kind and so gentle, and yet, Loras had heard him lead an entire army with his words - strong and powerful, no hint of the boy that was left behind in the dust of Winterfell. It sent shivers down his spine, and he had to force some of the blood in his body back to his brain, to the best of his ability.
Loras chuckles as he hears Robb’s words, raising an eyebrow as the other man finishes. A matching smirk rises on his cheeks, a few of his golden curls falling into his eyes.
“Now, Your Grace? Were my standards less important to you a mere day ago? And... if you insist - a tent in middle of nowhere is not my idea of being up to my standards. But I suppose it’ll have to do for now. That is, until you can take me to see your home...”
The young knight was never good at reading people - he’d always just assumed that everyone liked him, unless they sneered at him, or called him a sword-swallower, or otherwise expressed their distaste in one way or another. Renly, though, he could read. He could tell when his love was angry, or happy, or simply wanted a good fuck to get him through the night. Robb was more difficult for him to read - it was something about Northerners, Loras could never seem to understand them. But the spark in Robb’s bright blue eyes was more than enough for the Tyrell to understand that his desires were equal to the King’s.
“I suppose I’m more than just good... with my hands and with my head. It takes a certain mentality to be able to fight another... I’m sure you know. And I’ve been trained by the side of a king. And, now, I fight for you with passion... as a brave man should. As you do.”
He was surprised when his cup is taken from his hand - he was too lost in the king’s eyes, leaning into the touch - to realize the touch had left his cheek in the first place. It took him a minute for his eyes to focus on what was happening in front of him, to see Robb drink his wine and set the cup aside. And then, Praise the Gods, Robb’s strong, large hand was resting at the nape of his spine and his soft lips were against his own. Loras’ eyes slipped shut as he relaxed into the kiss, his hands reaching up to gently drape themselves over Robb’s shoulder. It was an amazing feeling and all he wanted was more.
❛ I will choose to ignore that, for your sake. And I highly doubt that, Stannis is more of a ruler than Renly could have ever h o p e d to be. ❜
❛ What will you do now, Loras. Continue fruitlessly defending a dead usurper? ❜
“You are the one defending a usurper. King Renly and Stannis both had some right to the throne - the war won them that. But Renly is the king the people wanted. So yes, I will continue defending him, until the day I go to the Gods.”
“That Renly loved you so well was no small thing, Loras. You have greatness in you, but such things take time to happen. This wasn’t the right world for you, you needed a better one… But you will find a way. We’re Tyrells. Growing Strong, remember?”
“I fear no one will love me the way Renly did, Willas. I fear I will love no one the way I did Renly. I know you’re right - anyone who has even a hint of brains would. But I... yes, Willas. Growing Strong. As if I could ever forget those words.”
Olyvar laughed aloud at that. “I see, my lord. And may I inquire as to which exceptional few have made that list..?
“You already know one of them,” Loras smirked, looking up at the other man. “The rest are between me, them, and the Gods.”
“Take a lesson from a consummate pleaser of men, my lord. Most proud men enjoy proving others wrong above most else…”
“Most proud men can suck my cock. It’s those few exceptional ones for whom I get on my knees, do you understand? Or am I being too... what’s the word...? Eloquent. That’s it.”
“Loras… you’re a boy. I know you’ll think me rude for it, but it’s what you are. The tourney that crippled me… it forced me to grow into a man more quickly. I never got the chance to be properly foolish, and that doesn’t mean you’re wrong to be one… just that you might have been one for too long.”
“What should I do, Willas? I just... I don’t know what to do any more. I feel... lost. Like I don’t belong anywhere, do you understand? And I suppose that’s why I act like a fool... or... well, I am a fool. I understand I need to grow, to become more wise... to mature. But I am no heir to one of the Great Houses of Westeros. I’m... I’m just a boy. Trying to find his way in this cruel, cruel world... looking only to my brothers, my grandmother, my sister, and the Gods to guide me. And, with all of this, I feel I couldn’t be any more lost.”
“Loras, I have been his son a full six years longer than you have, what I know is that he has always been able to do what he wants, simply because he’s the lord of the Reach and Warden of the South. Power can breed foolishness.”
“I know that just as well as any, brother. But... I suppose I should not argue. You’re just as well six years wiser than I. Six years more experienced. And I suppose, to you, I’m just as much a fool as he, aren’t I? I sleep with any man who wants to sleep with me... I’m a fool. I’m a sex-addicted fool, Willas.”
“I pity everyone you meet, Ser Loras.”
“It’s a struggle I face daily. The Gods are testing me, I swear to it.”
“I pity you to have that voice singing in your home.”
“It’s not only in my home, My Lord. It’s everywhere we travel, as well.”
“I believe he had been…over indulging in the Arbor Gold, my lord.”
“Most likely, he wasn’t indulging at all. He thinks he’s the greatest singer to ever grace Westeros. I’ve tried telling him otherwise... but he refuses to listen to me... stubborn bastard.”
