some people have such deranged takes when it comes to disabilities and ableism like they'd lose their shit at genetic screening and lower rates of people with genetic disorders and abortions because they assign personhood to fetuses. that's not a person. it cannot be oppressed. all this effort you put into some nonexistent humans could be used to give already existing humans better living conditions. and also you do realize people suffer from those medical conditions right? like what is your goal? having more people with medical conditions? is that activism to you?
People often times don't understand what eugenics truly is. Eugenics are when institutions of power try to hand select and breed out "undesirable" traits in order to make a "pure race". It's intentional and done without the consent of the people participating. It's inherently racist and almost always the result of bigotry and ethnic cleansing.
Individual people cannot engage in eugenics. A woman not wanting to care for a disabled fetus is not bigotry or eugenics. The world we live in doesn't provide for those who have disabilities. Their quality of life is not certain and it greatly depends on your economic status and where you live. Taking care of someone with a disability is a financial commitment and requires of lot of emotional labor and it's not evil for a woman to know she won't be able to provide that kind of care.
Like if you call yourself pro-choice but draw the line at women aborting disabled fetuses then you're not pro-choice. It makes no sense. You're either okay with a woman's choice to terminate or you're not.
