I regret not being aware of this two years ago – but within the last few days I’ve found that this is still accurate, and unchallenged behavior on the part of Worthy.  

To provide additional context on Thursday (6/9/2022), Worthy reblogged (with additional commentary) this post.  (screenshot below for posterity)

Two individuals responded and where blocked.  You can read response 1 here.   You can read response 2 here.   As you can see, neither of these are especially egregious.  While I don’t believe there is an obligation to engage in everyone who reblogs from you – I do feel this speaks to a pre-existing pattern of behavior that is not going to be challenged or changed.

Now that I am aware of these things, I am choosing to block and disengage with worth-beyond-a-number-scale and fatphobiabusters.  I do not want to associate with someone who holds racist beliefs or people who allow that behavior to continue unchecked, and silence those who would call it out.

Wait a gosh darned minute. Rocky Horror was written and composed by the incredible non-binary writer and theater composer Richard O’Brien. And the terminology for trans people in the 70s was different than it is now. It pushed the boundaries of gender expression and sexuality at a time where these things were taboo or not talked about or ignored by society at large. And to compare it to Harry Potter, which was written and conceived by a transphobic antisemetic TERF who allowed illustrations of caricatures of negative Jewish stereotypes to be put in her books, is incredibly reductive.

Rocky Horror informed a generation of people that sexuality and gender are as fluid as the folks who created it, and sure it has words for trans people that we wouldn’t use today, but all in all they never promoted transphobia at the level of JK Rowling today, and actually accounts for some sex positive representation of wacky characters who spend the whole movies exploring themselves in a campy ridiculous way. Plus who doesn’t want to see Tim Curry in a corset and a sexy football player in nothing but a speedo? It’s a revolutionary film that we still watch because of how it holds up trans people as gorgeous, sexy, and amazing, and don’t you forget it.

the original lesbian flag has purple to represent when lesbians gave each other violets to show their love in secret, and pink to represent femininity.

the mlm flag has green to represent when men would wear green carnations on their lapels to represent loving men, and the blue is to represent masculinity.

they're very similar flags because they have very similar concepts! maybe we don't have to fight about every tiny little thing when there are much bigger issues in the queer community that actually matter.

And also remember that peaceful protest and boycotts like the ones that citizens and governments enacted against apartheid South Africa has been made illegal in many Western countries - there are bills in the US congress that would disallow American students from talking about BDS or criminalizes any boycott against Israel.

In effect, while Western governments support the ethnic cleansing and apartheid happening in Israel, they are also making it hard for ordinary citizens to help Palestinians fight back in any way.

That is the state of affairs happening today in Israel in the 21st century.
