As much as I love Rivals s2, there's one thing that's been bothering me, and I haven't seen anyone talk about; the Muffy/Gerald/Charles situation.

For all the cheating that occurs in Rivals, I feel really bad for Muffy, specifically. And it made me dislike Gerald.

Back in s1e8 Gerald told Charles "I found someone to marry [...] she likes me in the right ways". And from this, I basically assumed it was a lavender marriage. That way Gerald would be married to a woman, but he could still be with Charles, and everyone would be happy and aware.

Instead, we saw in s2 it was not that kind of marriage and therefore Charles is being cheated with, and Muffy cheated on. And I'm sorry, but both Charles and Muffy deserve better than that.

On top of that, Gerald decided to marry her without telling her anything, even though he knew full well he was not going to be loyal in their relationship, and that's just horrible to me.

It's easy being silly in the summer when the sun is shining and everything feels possible. / That night she lay in her bed listening to the storm raging outside her house and decided she must live a less timid life.
