i think itd be funny if johnny was a slightly bigger freak
Okay I'm done goodnight gyjolings
Johnny and Gyro are opposite sides of the same coin when it comes to sentimentality.
Johnny cries all the time and lets himself be carried away by his feelings most of the time, while Gyro is able to put them aside to to make the best decision, no matter how stressful the situation is.
But in the end, they meet at the same point: they both hate feeling.
Johnny hates it because his emotions overwhelm him most of the time. He lives in a constant depressive state where he can't let go of his past, and even before he lost the ability to walk, he seemed to live a life filled with superficial things to fill the void left by Nicholas's death and his father's abandonment.
On the other hand, Gyro also hates it because it goes against everything his father taught him, and both his work as a doctor and as an executioner are affected by his emotions in one way or another. He knows that, at the end of the day, things would be easier if he did not feel.
They never say it, but I think Johnny sees in Gyro the person he longs to be. Not calmer, but more rational, someone capable of acting before feeling. Meanwhile, Gyro admires Johnny's ability to feel, to express his emotions even when it may not be convenient, because deep down he wishes he had that same freedom.
Both of them wish they were a little more like the other.
I can’t stop drawing them. They’re my reason to live 🥹
I used Pinterest stuff as refs for most of these

Well, well, well, if it isn't the mayor of subspace himself.
this one kind of ran away from me
well actually hirohiko araki told me that johnny goes to italy with gyro and johnny's italian is atrocious but he manages to blurt out a few awkward half-sentences with a thick kentucky accent and gyro steps in and apologizes for this idiot foreigner in fluent italian. greg zeppeli is more pissed that his son is giving up the executioner tradition than him being gay but gyro and johnny pool together their remaining money to open a horse sanctuary in the beautiful italian countryside. they take in marco and give him a job of looking after the horses. the two of them live off of champagne, olives and italian seafood. their house is small, and made of stone, but it overlooks the sea as well as the rolling green hills. every morning, they wake up before dawn and ride the horses on the beach. johnny's italian is still terrible, but he is starting to understand the pet names gyro calls him.
kill them all
