Its 8.05 in the evening and the Gallagher household is silent.

Theres not the telly going, theres not the heater humming, nothing.

Peggy holds her mug between trembling hands. The tea inside is steaming, heating the ceramic from the inside. Her face is lined with stress, skin tight, jaw clenched. Her tired, rimmed eyes are red and watering.

It was a very unique feeling to look into his mothers eyes and see the last drops of love for him ... Vanish. As if it were never there in the first place.

Noel swallows. "Im sorry you had to raise me," he tells her, and finally the silence is broken. "And im sorry i turned into this. Im sorry you dont want me anymore."

"Christ, give me a break," Peggy manages out, her voice broken. She blinks back her tears, pressing a hand over her mouth.

"I love you, Mam."

The tears drip down Peggy's cheeks. Her voice is angry, "You make it so hard, Noel. You make it so hard for me to say that back to you!"

Noel winces. He drops his head. "Please dont yell at me."
