It is heartbreaking to share that we have lost another sibling in struggle, Chae'Meshia Simms, to violence in Richmond, Virginia on November 23.

Chae'Meshia, who also used the nickname “ChaeChae,” is remembered by her loved ones as “good,” “kind,” “caring,” and always “one of [their] biggest supporters.” She loved her friends, family, and community.

Chae'Meshia cannot and will not be reduced to a statistic in the epidemic of violence against trans women of color. Trans people, especially trans people of color, deserve a life unthreatened by violence and oppression – we must work towards that life until everyone is living it.
