Today I’ve decided to try out making a few things I usually eat from a package in order to save plastic from being thrown away and ending up in the ocean. Also it turns out it’s cheaper to make your own things.
Things I wanna start making instead of buying:
Toothpaste. I found a recipe that uses baking soda as the base which looks super easy to make. And also no tube I have to throw away once I’ve used it up.
Bread. I already have a bread machine so that makes it easy lol. Also when you make your own bread you can choose what flours you want to use which opens up a lot of possibilities and you can be more creative. And store bought packaged bread just kinda tastes flat to me.
Tortillas. Another easy thing to make and you can choose your own flour. Most recipes are only five ingredients vs. the ones you buy in a store that have extra unnecessary ingredients to help preserve it.
Vegan sausage. I’m tired of buying plastic wrapped vegan sausage and from my research today there are lots of different ways you can make vegan sausage. Vital wheat gluten, chickpeas, beans, soy beans, etc.
So this is just a small list of what I want to start doing, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve already started making more bread using the bread machine so it’s a first step.
