β1. push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise. 2. push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable. 3. get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else. 4. stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything. 5. buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice. 6. buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small. 7. strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full. 8. organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you donβt want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle. 9. have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck. 10. push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dogβs behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog. 11. message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you donβt follow through. push yourself to follow through. 13. think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything. 14. become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends. 15. lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasnβt a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.β

A self care list. Iβve been working on this. I promise itβs worth it.

So this is how the night starts.
Youβre picking me up from work. I look out for the bright yellow of your scooter, but itβs always you that I spot first. I guess to my brain, youβre easier to spot in a crowd that the brightest sunshine yellow.Β Sometimes, I run over immediately. Sometimes, usually when I know you havenβt spotted me yet, I like to look at you from across the road. I see the way you lean across your scooter, every fiber of you exuding casual calm, but I know you enough to know that this is an orchestrated pose to make you look your best. You turn around then and spot me, and the smile that takes over your face melts my heart, and I fall for you, again. This is only what, the nine hundred thousand four hundred and sixtieth time?Β I run over, and you tell me how much you love watching me run to you. Nine hundred thousand four hundred and sixty one.
We get on the scooter and you ask, βwhere to?β. Both of us look at each other for a second, and smile. βTea, at Iftar?β we say in unison smiling ear to ear.Β The laughter flows out of us the rest of the evening, like milk boiling over from the pot, gentle but unstoppable. We grab dinner, we walk around aimless through the park, and later in the night when Iβm in bed curled up in your arms and the clock strikes 12, I turn around, kiss you, and whisper,Β βHappy birthday. I love you.β If you were here, this is how the night would have been. Youβre not here, but when the clock strikes 12 tonight, I hope you know my heart is with you.Β
Our love story started like all good stories do. With a Princess who cat fished a brave young warrior to set him up with her best friend, but fell for him instead. And like all good Princess who fall for dark handsome young men, she kept her feelings to herself and decided to be his best friend. But like all good stories, the Princess and Ninga who were best friends, eventually realized they love each other. (About a good ten years later, but hey, better late than never?) All good stories usually have a happy ending though. Does ours? Weβre not sure yet, but for now, all I know is, everyday with you is a happy ending. And Iβll take how many ever happy endings Iβm allowed in our destiny.

Omoshiroi Block
Produced by Japanese company Triad, whose main line of business is producing architectural models, the Omoshiroi Blocks feature various notable architectural sites in Japan like Kyotoβs Kiyomizudera Temple, Tokyoβs Asakusa Temple and Tokyo Tower. The blocks are composed of over 100 sheets of paper and each sheet is different from the next in the same way that individual moments stack up together to form a memory.

This picture captures exactly how I feel around you all the time. Ecstatically happy, and irrefutably in love.
One month (6 months? 9 years?) down. Forever to go, baby.
Cheers to us.
Goodnight, sleep tight.
The night has already fallen,Β and weβre both in bed. An ocean between us,Β but our arms still reach out for each other, as we whisper into the cold night air, I miss you.
I love you.
I wish you were here.Β
There are days when it takes a lot of effort to make it out of bed. To take a breath and tell yourself youβll make it through the day. When all you want to do is somehow pause life, just to take a second to pull yourself back together but you canβt afford to. And you have to just keep going, hoping you make it to through to the next minute, next hour, next day. But youβll make it through. Youβll reach the greener side of the grass, and one day, youβll wake up, maybe excited for your day. Maybe smiling in the warm embrace of your lover. Maybe youβll roll off the bed onto the floor and wake up giggling. And youβll feel it, in those first few seconds, when youβre just opening your eyes, and your brain has barely processed your surroundings, youβll feel it is the pits of your stomach, and across your fingertips, and shivering down your spine.
Gratitude.
To yourself. For having held on long enough to see that life can make you happy. To have held on long enough to be able to smile.
To have held on long enough to feel alive again.
Gratitude. For having made it out alive.
some idiot: why do you want to save the environment?
me:
The smiles come so easy these days, leaps out, at the mere thought of you. How could it not, when youβre this adorable?
(The look on your face the whole time you were making this, was almost cuter than the meal itself.)

See now youβve made a home, of all my crumbling walls, and the dying plants on the window sill, are slowly blooming again.Β
Hey you, with the big brown eyes, when did you sneak in, to this cold heart of mine? Thereβs warm tea on the table, and sunlight streaming through the windows, How did you get so comfortable, In a place that was only meant to hide in. Hey you, with the beautiful smile, if the world outside, makes you want to run and hide, I hope youβll remember, your way back home.
It must have been dark the day you left this system for the next I cannot feel the things you felt or know which way you went But with you were our greatest dreams the dead of midnight stole Our wishes on our brightest star, reduced to a black hole I search the skies, but do not find an answer from beyond My eyes cry out to silence My heart knows you are gone The brightest black that swirled around youβ Was it peace you found? It must have been dark the day you left, as dark as it is now
Look at all those stars! β¨π
