Have you watched Gehraiyaan?
.....yeah
what didnt u like about shyam singha roy?
i thought the plot was very poorly, badly written. it goes from one thing to another for it all to make sense at the end....and it was just.....meh. i remember thinking "did the director just show me all of this only to tell me that shyam is now reborn and remembers everything and wants to reunite with his lost lover?" it manages to squeeze some progressive politics, but somehow nani emerges as the guy who saves the devadasi and something about that just irks me considering the complex history of devadasis in the country. and the devasasi bit is only used as a ploy to somehow highlight HIS character. i know the movie is called is shyam singh roy and it's HIS movie but it just seems lazy and ignorant writing at best to use something political like devadasi for literally no other reason. the first half of the movie until the Bengali bit started was unbearable and embarassing....i kept waiting for the movie to go somewhere lol. pallavi and Nani did a good job, and they clearly have good chemistry, but they (and stunning cinematography in the 2nd half) are the only saving grace of this movie.
