it is pretty annoying how the fandom erases shaggys flaws to make him into a uwu precious scoobie snack babieā¦like hes a coward that when push comes to shove isnt there to help out his friends lmao
alright, lemme school your dumbass because obviously youāve never watched scooby doo before
shaggy rogers is a hero
yes, he canonically has anxiety issues, but when it comes down to it, he is there for his friends no matter how scared he is. he cares very deeply for his friends and he would absolutely not hesitate to put himself in danger to keep them safe
inĀ āmusic of the vampireā when the vampire threatens his friends, shaggyās first response is to grab a bunch of wooden stakes to attack the vampire with
later in this same movie when he (albeit falsely) believes heās fallen victim to the vampire curse, he runs away and gets as far away from his friends as possible so there would be no chance of him harming them or inflicting the curse on them as well
and in ācamp scareā when the fish monster theyāre dealing with hurts scooby, shaggyās first response was to shatter a two-by-four across its face.Ā watch it go down here, skip to about 1:30
during the climax of ālegend of the phantosaurā after struggling with his anxiety for the whole movie, shaggy overcomes it for the sake of saving the lives of his friends and the villains who put them in danger in the first place
inĀ āghoul schoolā, without any help from fred, daphne, or velma, shaggy saves the lives of several monster kids, and inĀ āreluctant werewolfā when heās cursed to become a werewolf, he wins back his humanity in just under two days, again without help from fred, daphne, or velma
hell, the whole plot of āgoblin kingā was about shaggy and scooby travelling into the realm of monsters, the very things heās afraid of mos, so he can save his friends from being turned into monsters themselves. and he does save them
and those are just the examples i could think of off the top of my head!
shaggy is as essential to the gang as everyone else is. heās the one who repeatedly throws himself headfirst into the path of the monster of the week to lead it into fredās traps, despite his anxiety issues, because heās the only one fast enough not to get caught. fun fact! heās won multiple awards in high school for gymnastics and athletics. he isnāt just all about fear and food. heās a friendly, caring person who would do anything for his friends, and on top of all this?
heās only seventeen. of course heās scared, heās just a kid.
tl;dr, shaggy rogers is more than his anxiety
canonically, shaggy and scoob have dealt with more real monsters than the entire gang.
the mystery gang tends to unmask humans. The exceptions (authentic monsters, zombies, witches, ghosts, etc) are in certain movies. some of which (Zombie Island, the Witchās Ghost) involve the full gang. Others (Ghoul School, Reluctant Werewolf, the Boo Brothers) have Shaggy and Scoob (and Scrappy) on their own adventures.Ā
oh hey and in ghoul school, looking for some peace and quiet,Ā they get hired as gym teachers at a school for girls, that turns out to be a school for ghouls. Despite being terrified,Ā Ā
they stay, become fantastic teachers, inspire their students and lead them to victory in the volleyball champion, and then risk their lives saving the students from an evil witch and spider minions.Ā
oh and they befriend an adult mummy, vampire, wolfman, and phantom along the way
not to mention whenever they hang with the rest of the gang, they invariably get used trap bait against their expressed wishes. but still they stick around
oh, and despite their reluctance, scoob and shaggy regularly play some of the most vital roles in the gangās adventures, to the point the movie posters regularly feature them as the most prominent members. the rest of the gang may provide the motivation, but shaggy and scooby are the lifeblood of the show:
conclusion: Shaggy Rogers and Scoobert Doo have enormous hearts that lead them to face their greatest fears on an almost daily basis for the sake of protecting those they care about.
PROTECT AND APPRECIATE SHAGGY ROGERS
Also, THEY ARE ALWAYS RUNNING AROUND LIKE CRAZY AND DOING SUPER DANGEROUS STUFF. THEY ARE BURNING MORE CALORIES THAN THEY HAVE IN THEIR BODIES. OF COURSE THEYāRE GONNA EAT LIKE CRAZY. IF THEY DONāT EAT CONSTANTLY THEYāLL DIE.
im currently kinning jared 19Ā
Also the mystery machine was originally Shaggyās but he gave it to Fred because heās too anxious to drive more often than not. Miss me with this fake as shit about my favorite guy.
In this house, we stan Norville āShaggyā Rogers.
Shaggy would be a great Green lantern
He actively supports his friends interests even if they are outside of his own and when presented with opportunities to call out one of his friends on their occasional b.s. he typically keeps his personal knowledge to himself because he cares about them and doesnāt want to cause them embarrassment. Per the comics his support is why the rest of the gang managed to be comfortable with themselves enough to follow their various quirky interests which is why Mystery Inc is able to exist in the first place. Thereās also the fact that while the show makes his fears comedic, they are in reality completely legitimate. Shaggy knows real dangerous monsters exist, he knows the supernatural is real, and he knows that people with or without masks can be dangerous. It is canon that he has been dealing with this stuff since he was at least a toddler. Not only do villains constantly chase him and try to capture him, occasionally succeeding, they have also tried to shoot him, stab him, drown him, push him off of ledges, blow him up, run him over, suffocate him, freeze him to death, smash his skull in with blunt objects, burn him alive, seal him into a wall, run him off the road while driving, toss him out of planes while in flight, trapped him with large, hungry, predatory animals in hopes that the animal would kill and eat him, etc. and thatās just off the top of my head.Ā
He has watched friends, acquaintances, and complete strangers be nearly killed and often was the one who jumped into the fray to keep that from happening. Despite Daphne often being referred to as a damsel in distress character and her alliterative Danger Prone Daphne nickname, if you watch the various series and movies, Shaggy is actually the most danger prone, most frequently captured, and also most often injured character in the series. Yes, he often jumps at things that end up being innocuous, but ptsd and anxiety are real things, and letās be honest, if all of the above was my every day life, Iād be pretty darn jumpy too. Shaggy is the voice of reason in the group. When the gang is inevitably informed that some giant beast in the area has been rampaging about causing destruction, and kidnapping and/or trying to murder people, he has every right to voice concern over intentionally going out to search for the thing, especially when he himself attracts that danger and the supernatural more than anyone else in the gang, including Scooby. If a pathway looks dangerous and he points it out, everyone else will roll their eyes and keep going and heāll inevitably follow them and its his feet it ends up crumbling under. His completely valid concerns are constantly dismissed and heās usually the one who ends up suffering the consequences for it. And while I agree he would make a great green lantern, he was in canon a prettyĀ awesome yellow lantern.
There have been many hints throughout the series that Shaggy actually obliviously wields magic and Scooby is his familiar, which was basically made canon in Goblin King and there was a gag about it in a Be Cool Scooby Doo episode. Read more about thisĀ
here and here also here and lastly here
In the above comic, Shaggy manipulated the ring without even trying while Sinestro was both wearing it and actively trying to wield it, and then it flew off of Sinestroās finger and onto Shaggyās.Ā As his familiar, Scooby is affected by the ring too. Sinestro freaks out about them having the ability to both cause and instill the greatest fear of all. Thereās another team-up comic with Green Arrow and Green Lantern where Psycho Pirate shows up and uses his ability to cause the rest of the gang to feel sheer terror and flee, this has seemingly no affect on Shaggy and Scooby because thatās just their normal state.
The big takeaway here is that despite all of the perfectly legitimate reasons to be scared listed above, the yellow lantern comic suggests that the primary reason Shaggy is actually afraid is that heās been taking his ability to cause and instill the greatest fear of all and subconsciously inflicting all of it on himself (and unwittingly on Scooby as well due to their connection). He has stated that his greatest dislike is being afraid, so heās basically wielding the feeling he dislikes most in the world at epic proportions onto himself because he would never want anyone else to have to feel that way, all the while still managing to investigate spooky places, find clues, solve mysteries, be a good friend, act as bait, and throw himself into danger for the sake of others. So yeah, Shaggy is a hero and his friends should give him all the hugs because he sure as heck deserves them.
Most of my arguments are already made above, but I do have one thing I can add.
Shaggyās still there.
Shaggy does not like cases. He does not putĀ āsolving mysteriesā down as something he enjoys. And you know he doesnāt like being perpetual bait. But at no point does he sayĀ āscrew thisā and go home, leaving it to the others to deal with. At no point does he stop hanging out with his friends, no matter how often his wishes in the matter are overridden.
Shaggy cares about them enough them to stick with it every time. So you see, OP, itās not that weāre erasing his flaws, itās just we can see that thereās more to him than them.Ā Ā
Gonna throw in my (probably unneccessary) two cents.
Shaggy is an amazing character for all the reasons listed above and more, but the main reason he was my favorite character growing up? The reason I loved seeing him on screen and had tons of posters and pictures and ornaments of him?
Because heās relatable.
I mention this a lot on my blog, but characters who seem shallow tend to hold a lot of hidden depth (i.e Shaggy, Lance, etc.) Outwardly they seem two dimensional, fitting perfectly into a stereotype box: Shaggy is a silly coward, easy comic relief. Heās something we can laugh at in a show thatās otherwise about a bunch of kids risking their lives to unmask corrupt old criminals.
He is scared all the time and yenno what? So were we. As a kid I hated the giggling ghoul (that green guy with the creepy laugh?) I had nightmares about him, but I never felt alone because Shaggy and Scooby were scared of him too, and if they could face him then so could I.
Shaggy had shoulders I could grab onto it and he could drag me around the stories, I could related to his fears and as I got older I could see that hisĀ ācowardlyā behavior was just very well-placed anxiety which I ended up having later in life. Itās refreshing, itās comforting, itās relatable.
Yes, Shaggy can be fit into a box, we can sum up his character in a few words but thatās not everything about him. Ghoul School was my favorite movie because Shaggy wanted a break from Monsters, but ended up in a school full of them anyway. He was terrified as all hell but he stayed. He stayed and bonded with his new monster students, inspired them, befriended them, and defended their honor from mean military boys from the academy next door. In return his girls were ready to THROW DOWN for him!
In Pup Named Scooby-Doo heās a big brother who is willing to do anything, face any fear, for his baby sister. Shaggyās heart is as big as his stomach, heās a boy who cares so much and thatās why he staysĀ itās why he comes back.
In the live action movies he feels useless and pathetic and like a total screw up but you know what?
His friends donāt see him that way.
Yes, they know that most of the times Shaggy and Scooby will trip over their own two feet and mess things up, but itās okay.
Velma herself said that she looks up to the two of them because regardless of what anyone thinks Shaggy and Scooby will always be themselves. They arenāt afraid of otherās opinions, they know what theyāre about and arenāt afraid to show it. Theyāre scared in every single other aspect in life but they are never afraid to be who they are.
Theyāre scared of the monsters they know exist, of the cruel humans hiding behind a mask, but they face every danger and walk away laughing with a hamburger in their hand.
Norville Shaggy Rogers and Scoobert Doo deserve the world.
We found this disgaurded painting downtown yesterday. The wood it was painted on was a little soggy from rain and the paint itself is scratched up an damaged. Itās a very nice painting. There was no artistās signature or anything to help identify the artist.
Posting art that isnāt yours is wrong, but I felt bad such a beautiful piece was discarded and want it to be remembered.

Breathe!
I assume the roots are moving with the trees due to wind but dang that looks like a cool effect
Yeah, it is super easy to understand why ancient folk believed in monsters, spirits, and the like, because nature is ducking weird.
This is what they meant when they said the mountain was seen to be breathing
crazy
Woooooo
thereās not really much discussion of child neglect on here so i guess i have to do it
p l e a s e donāt shame neglect survivors for not knowing ābasicā things like how to eat a balanced diet, when to go to the doctor, how to drive, etc. you know these things (usually) because a caring adult taught them to you. we didnāt have that. we often enter adulthood knowing jack shit about how to take care of ourselves. we know weāre missing information, and we feel so fucking lost.
itās okay to, if you have a friend whoās experienced neglect, try and help them learn how to take care of themselves. saying things like āhey, do you think you could try to eat at least one vegetable per day?ā or āthat infection looks pretty bad, do you want to go to a doctor?ā is genuinely helpful. but belittling us for not already knowing these things is completely unproductive and unnecessarily cruel.
donāt be a dick to survivors.
shit I missed my window, next week I guess
Reblog on Tuesday to let your followers know itās safe to leave the bog
A plastic gem!
A little doorknob!
Hey Goblins, uh
Did you know, that you can make an AWESOME journal for your adventures ALL ON YOUR OWN from a cereal box and paper/scraps that you likely have at home/can get from friends or family/you may find around your environment?
Theyāre called Junk Journals and theyāre my entire life.
Im gonna do my best to walk you through how to make one! First, get you a mini cereal box! I use boxes from those cool multipacks of cereal that you can find at Walmart!
And then cut it out so it looks like this! (I already had one cut, so Iām gonna use that)
That ānutrition factsā side is gone become your spine!
Next, find some paper to use to decorate your cover! I was lucky enough to be gifted a bunch of scrapbooking paper, so Iām gonna use that, but you can also use newspaper, paper from books/magazines, junk mail, napkins, paper towels (excellent texture), etc!
Go ahead and glue that paper to your box (to cover the cereal logo) and cut it out! Itāll look like this;
Next you need to find your pages! Again these can be anything! Junk mail, envelopes, receipts, food wrappers, magazine/book pages, scrapbook paper, computer paper, construction paper, ANYTHING. Just grab a whole bunch!
Youāre gonna want to fold them in half and cut them to the size of one of the covers of your box, and layer other pages inside of it to make your signatures, like this!
Each signature should be about 7-10 pages. You donāt want them too thick, otherwise the inner pages start sticking out when folded in half. Youāre gonna have a LOT of these signatures, as you wanna fill the area in the spine as best as possible. For this one Iām using 7 page signatures. Hereās a pic to show just how much paper youāll need
Each of these signatures are 7 pages, 6 signatures have only filled about half of the spine, so Iāll need probably 6 more.
Next you gotta figure out how you want them in your journal. Personally, I like to sew them into the spine, but you can also keep them in the spine with rubber bands, so you can have removable pages! (Be weary that rubber bands may break over time! So you may want to always keep extra bands near it to replace in case one snaps. This is why I prefer sewing them in) I find it best to look up on YouTube how to sew in signatures, just because having someone walk you through it where you can see what theyāre doing is easiest. If you canāt access YouTube, thereās plenty of text tutorials on how to sew in signatures online, or you can message me! Iām not gonna go too into detail, but hereās the jist;
Okay so Iām a forgetful gob and I hecken forgot to take pictures as I was going along kahshshshsh
But essentially, I sewed in the pattern similar to the one I drew. The dots are where the needle goes all the way through to the back. I also like to use rubber band as an extra mode of support but you can do one or the other. I also like both cuz I can tuck stuff in em between the pages. Since I didnāt take more pictures; Iād really recommend looking up a how-to on YouTube or w/e if my badly drawn diagram isnāt clear enough (heh sorry about that)
Next, I glue fabric to the spine. It spruces it up quite a lot and holds the rubber bands in place, plus it give more support to the spine since thereās gonna be a lot of strain on it.
Only 10 photos per post, so I gotta post this and reblog it with the rest.
Hereās the journal with the fabric on the spine, I decided to go ahead and glue the excess to the rest of the cover too, cuz I liked how it looked ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Next step?
DECORATE the pages! I havenāt decorated this one yet, but hereās some pages I have completed!
Have fun with it! Make tuck spots and hideaways. Add folders and envelopes and make tags and things that dangle. Decorate the covers and the spine and make it your own! Add things as you find them! Anything! Even candy wrappers! This is really the ultimate goblin journal!
I hope yāall enjoyed this mini tutorial =3
Honestly @gayestgoth Iām not sure how you donāt think itās goblin. In my opinion, using garbage to make something cool is very goblin. And not only that, you can make these with ANYTHING.
Hereās one where I decorated the cover with actual leaves
I regularly use materials and litter that I find while out in the woods. I pick up all sorts of paper, receipts, scraps, cloth, advertisements, broken beer bottles, etc to use in my journals. And because Iām picking these things up, thereās less litter in the woods. PLUS Iām recycling. And I press plants into them.
Half chewed papers? Go for it! I set the corners of pages on fire before cuz I liked the burnt look! (Do with caution) chew ya own papers! Make it unique!
And shinies?
Iāve got plenty! I use all kinds of clips, wire, beads, buttons, pins, coins, etc in my journals. Half of which, I find in the garbage.
Hell,
I found the upholstery fabric I used for the cover of this journal in the garbage!
So how is this goblin?
How is it not?
just⦠remember to be careful with antisemitism in goblincore with things likeĀ āuglyā green creatures that hoard precious stones and coins
have fun with it, absolutely! let it be empowering! just be aware that goblins are known to be used as antisemitic caricaturesĀ
the imbalance of likes to reblogs is concerning me
Good goblincore: mud! Get dirt on you! Collect things that look pretty and bring you joy! Shinies donāt have to be money! Abolish beauty ideals! You donāt have to look how society says you should! Live free and as you want!
Antisemitic āgoblinā caricatures: massive hooked noses, hunch backs, stealing and hoarding gold/money, stingy, angry, etc.,
Nobody:
Literally not a soul:
