Detail shot of yesterday’s paddle.⠀ -Originally carved into the jawbone of a porpoise and dated to around 1000 A.D.⠀ This calendar/pendant, commonly known as Worm’s Norwegian runic calendar, displays only the winter season. Tried my hand at a rattle. Made the handle out of butternut & used the leftover glass beads for the rattling sound. Weaving on the bias with synthetic (glass) wampum beads.⠀ All 1,179 beads, one at a time, onto synthetic sinew & finished with some leather.⠀ For the pattern I chose to do the full Elder Futhark.
