It's sad wulian hours.
Hualian
Jun Wu essentially siccing Xie Lian on the other gods would be so funny if the real reason wasn’t that he was once again just using Xie Lian’s own nature to torture him and prove that it only brings him trouble.
Him lightly nudging Xie Lian in a certain direction, knowing Xie Lian was going to stick his nose so far up their business that the entire court was going to know everything by the end of the week. Xie Lian didn’t want to go into their skeleton-infested closets, but really those closets were so big he hadn’t even realized that’s what they were until he saw the bones. He wasn’t going to drag them out of there, but as it turns out, those skeletons were innocent and they really deserved a proper burial…
Jun Wu knew him well enough to know it would happen as such—he was counting on it so that Xie Lian would make enemies and be isolated and alone yet again. And he was right about Xie Lian inevitably uncovering all the hidden plots, but he miscalculated the fallout. Once again, he failed to understand the power of Hua Cheng's presence in Xie Lian's life, and it screwed him. He also misjudged the level of resentment that would truly follow Xie Lian's actions. Everyone else involved might've been a little pissed off, sure, but not much more serious than that.
Pei Ming was too proud to bother Xie Lian, as Hua Cheng said, while Pei junior had known Xie Lian when he was a child and only cared about banyue's safety, which he knew Xie Lian wanted as well. Sqx became genuine friends with Xie Lian, and swd was always going to be taken out by He Xuan.
He Xuan only cared about his revenge and was probably the biggest threat out of them all, but he only had his eyes set on swd and regardless, Hua Cheng also would have fought him if he tried anything against Xie Lian, which I'm sure he knew.
Xie Lian gave benefit of the doubt to ling when and empathized with her story, and I think she’s too smart to hold a grudge over something her own actions caused.
Then finally there's Hua Cheng, who wouldn't resent Xie Lian even if he freed his prisoner and burned his house down... which he did.
Jun Wu had done so much to Xie Lian and failed to break him that I think the man was starting to run out of ideas. Malicious and conniving, absolutely, but I don't think this particular plan was ever going to work out.
