i was watching a youtube video a few nights ago, can’t remember who it was by and i hope i find it again because he made an amazing point - he asked the audience if they agree with the law of attraction, and they agreed - he then asked why so many people who give so much get so little back, why does this happen if the law of attraction is always in action? it defies the law, right? they agreed. he then said its because all giving does not come from kindness, and a lot of what people view as kindness in themselves is actually egoic - giving to be known as a giver, giving to be seen as kind, giving to feel like The Best Friend Anyone Could Ever Have, The Best Partner Anyone Could Ever Need and The Person In Everyone’s Life. giving as a way of creating an image both for themselves and for others to identify them with and believe in. and these underlying intentions are the reason they aren’t receiving loving kindness in return; because their giving, although appearing like love on the surface, does not truly come from love. and there are multiple reasons why this might be the case - not always because someone is a narcissistic abuser or manipulator, but often because they are seeking to fill voids or soothe a hurting inner child. this type of giving does not bring love to you and in fact only helps to reinforce the hurting inner child narrative that ‘nobody loves me’. 

so yeah. thisssssssssss. it’s really worth taking the time to heal - both the journey and the outcomes are so worth it.

My family had no money.  NADA.  ZIP.  ZERO.  I learned how to cook with the shitty cans of food no one wanted from the back of the food pantry.  We all have high blood pressure because our food intake for six to eighteen years was basically solid sodium, all the time.
