Luis Cesar:
Jack Kirby's "Argo" Drawings limited edition blacklight prints. "The Ben Affleck directed Argo (2012) featured concept art for a sci-fi movie of the same title drawn by lead Marvel artist Jack Kirby. The drawings were part of an elaborate CIA backed plan that involved a fake movie shoot to free American hostages hiding in the Canadian Embassy in Iran. The fake movie was an actual spec script written by Barry Geller originally titled "Lord of the Light" but renamed Argo to get around the Ayatollah's religious censors assigned to root out the least bit of imagined Muslim blasphemy and idolatry. The Kirby concept art was black and white and has been widely seen and admired. The art is kind of psychedelic, almost a big trippy adult coloring book waiting to be filled in with the perfect day glow colors. The folks over at Heavy Metal, the world’s premier illustrated magazine for science fiction, horror and fantasy, hired digital illustrator Mark Englert to fill in the colors and turn eight of Kirby's drawings into back-light posters."
