I think the hardest part has been hearing all my friends who I’ve known for 10+ years say things like: “the life is back in your eyes” or “you’re finally yourself after all these years”. Because it hurts knowing the people who loved me the most had to see me like that and knew they couldn’t do anything.

Losing friends because of a breakup is hard, but I get it. It’s terrifying to face who someone you love really is. Hell, I’m still struggling to face it myself.

It’s brutal to accept the things my ex did to me during our relationship. Those are scars I have to live with every day.

And honestly?

If I could turn away from the truth the way some people have, if I could block it out and pretend none of it happened,I probably would have done the same.

But I’m the one who lived it. I don’t get to look away.
