You were finishing some stretching exercise the doctors had given you that helped with pain and allowed you to sit better when Jeonghan and Seungkwan popped by your side.
“Can I help you guys?” You smiled. The two of them were especially careful around you in those two months that passed in the temporary house you were in.
“Yeah, Y/n, you actually can.” Jeonghan nodded and returned your smile. He and Seungkwan held your hands from each side. “We prepared a surprise for you. Do you think you are able to go with us to the deck?” The room you’re staying has an access to the deck of the house, this was decided so the human doctors could have easier access to you without startling the hybrids.
“Sure, oppa, I think I can. Help me out, you two.” Your smile just grew bigger as the hybrids practically carried you to the wooden deck. They cracked jokes and were mindful of any discomfort you could feel during the 5 minute walk you three had to accomplish. You then were sat in a padded chair that was part of a circle of other five chairs with a campfire still off in the center.
“What are you guys up to here?” You asked.
“Wait here for a minute, Y/n. Don’t move, okay?” Seungkwan dropped a fuzzy blanket on you before he and the older one turned and disappeared inside the house. You sighed and let a little giggle out. Looking around, the small backyard was still strange to you… You started to feel melancholic missing your own home when noise came from behind you.
There were Jihoon leading Seungkwan, Dokyeom and Jeonghan. The four had food, drinks and other fun camping accessories in their arms and had big smiles on their faces. It was normal to see this combination of hybrids around, since they had similar hobbies and energy most of the time…
“Now we can finally start our campfire!” Seokmin was clearly excited. You and the others laughed while the hybrids distributed the food and the drinks. Jihoon and Jeonghan started to try to light the fire while the younger ones sat beside you. “Do you like our surprise, Y/n?”
“We wanted to relax a little and wanted to spend some calm time with you… The last few months are a little chaotic for all of us.” Seungkwan explained. Your smile failed a little.
“Thank you, guys.” You sighed before coming back to a happier mood. “We all needed this, it’s a really nice idea.” You patted both of their heads with care and the canine hybrids cuddled you a little before the others called for their help.

“And the hybrid discovers fire!” Jihoon couldn’t help himself and screamed when they were capable of lighting up the fire… After an hour or so of trying.
All five of you laughed out loud, finding the situation ridiculous but still funny. Finally, the boys were able to sit with you and the group just spended a moment looking at the flames and enjoying the warmth and the silence of the night. Seokmin was starting to move and find something to play with when there was a noise inside your room and a voice shouted from there:
“You guys are doing things without me again! That’s not fair!” You all turned to the glass door and saw Joshua coming in your direction with a guitar in one of his hands. You opened a yellow smile while the others died from laughing.
“We did warn you that we would be starting, hyung!” Seungkwan got up to help the older cat hybrid, who was already gasping for air. “You were the one who decided to go search for the guitar Mark-hyung gave us.” He started to nag as he helped Shua to a chair and draped a blanket on his back.
“Well, I think it was a great idea.” You defended the Snowshoe cat hybrid. “And you arrived at the right time, Josh, we just got the fire going.” He smiled at you before robbing the occasion maknae of his just opened snacks.
“Yeah! What is a campfire without some songs?” He pouted a bit before starting to eat. All the boys went back to laugh and your night officially started. Everyone of you six were enjoying the vibe, telling jokes and sharing lighthearted experiences.
Jeonghan and Joshua shared about the gossipy aunts that took care of them. Seungkwan shared about the best hot cocoa his first owner made him on a cold day. Jihoon told everyone about pretending to be a nocturnal monster to scare new trainers. And Dokyeom told about the sunny days with his family he could remember.
You did some sharing too but being careful to not mention much about the hybrids your parents helped… Your boys didn’t like them much. As the night went by and you all got cozier and more emotional, Shua took the guitar out.
“Sunday morning, rain is falling...” He started the newest song he had heard with his beautiful and delicate voice before being interrupted.
“No!” “Stop!” “Enough of that!” The other boys drowned his singing, getting a giggle out of you. Seungkwan got up, passed Shua’s guitar to Jihoon and sat again. “Now, let’s sing something we are not all tired of hearing already.”
“I just learned that last week!” Poor Jisoo complained. This time, not even you came to his defense. Since Jackson showed them Youtube, the boys developed very specific tastes in music and videos to watch… Joshua had been constantly listening to that song. Everyone, including Josh, laughed and then started to sing sweet funny songs.
The vibe was warm and you haven’t felt this relaxed and in peace for a long time after the attack. The younger boys started to fall asleep on their chairs while the older ones started to go deeper in some experiences into some healthy(?) trauma bonding. You were just enjoying the talk, giving some input here and there.
At some point, you stared at the stars far into the night sky. Your eyes started to close, you had to fight to keep actively listening to the conversation around you. The warmth and your body finally out of the alert state made your fight a lost one… Right before you were completely in Morpheus’ arms, you heard:
“Sweet dreams, Y/n. We’ll look out for any nightmares.”

The days following the invasion of your house, you and your hybrids had to move temporarily to a safe house near the city. It was smaller than your mansion but it was enough for you all to live comfortably. You were confined to the bed for at least 3 months until your worst injuries were okay enough for you to move freely.
The medical team of the center were so busy with you and your family that there was little time for you to talk alone with the boys. You could see that some of them had just gone back to the state you had found them, without trusting humans or really, really frightened. The four boys that weren’t in the house that day also felt the jab, feeling guilty that their brothers had to go through something like that.
Today, there were no doctors in your room. No noise,nothing. You were getting bored and especially worried that you weren't able to see any of the boys yet. Suddenly, there’s a knock on the door.
“Yes? Come in.” You try to sit better in the bed, without much success, while your door is opened. You lifted your eyes and was really surprised to see The8 leading a group of hybrids into the room. “Oh, guys! Do you need something? I haven't seen you in ages, how is everyone? I’m so sorry!” It was hard to not say sorry… They had trusted you and your home but you broke it and put all of them at risk…
“Relax, Y/n. We’re all alive.” Dino was the last to enter the room. He closed the door while you studied the faces of those who surrounded your bed. Jihoon went straight to your side, being careful to not disturb your injuries but still near enough so you could be sure he wasn’t avoiding you. Seungcheol and Mingyu sat near yours foot while Chan and Minghao sat on the armchairs near the bed.
They all had some scratches and small bruises across their faces and arms, except The8, who was with the biggest dark circles under his eyes. There was no hybrid without traces of the traumatic event. You were usually a strong lady but their state made your eyes blurry with tears. You could only whisper again how sorry you were.
“Y/n.” Seungcheol’s voice was stern, making you flinch a little and locking eyes with him. “We do not blame you for what happened. None of us do.” To confirm his words, Jihoon grabbed your not broken hand and gave it a squeeze. You opened your month but the bear hybrid wasn’t finished. “Stop it, I mean it. We can be broken and still quite damaged by it but we know who to blame and who to be grateful to.”
“That doesn’t mean we will just stay quiet and trust everything to your organization again tho.” The8’s tone was one of challenge. He was massaging his temple as his eyes glared at your immobilized leg. “We came here to discuss what we’ll do while you heal from your almost suicide.” Let’s just say that although he still didn’t like you, he was still pissed that you tried to defend the house alone.
“That’s fair, I guess…” JayB had come to you with some of the hybrids’ requests. “From what I heard you guys want to start to train in the center with the strike team, not just hand in hand combat but also guns and other weapons and styles.” Your voice trembled a little. “Guys, I can see why y’all think this is necessary but…”
“But we need to feel secure again, human.” The8’s acid calling made you low your eyes in shame. You had failed in keeping them safe and now they were right in wanting to learn how to defend themselves.
“Easy, Minghao.” Mingyu kicked his friend. “What we’re saying, Y/n, is that we don’t want to feel as helpless as this time. We want to help you and be able to defend what is important to us, just like you do.” The marine hybrid smiled at you. “We want your help and permission to protect our family when you can’t or when you need help, because you’re still just a person, Y/n, you’re not invincible.”
“I… I get it, Mingyu…” You sighed to regulate your own emotions about the subject. “Ok… What did you guys think?”
“The domestic hybrids are terrified to be alone without training, so we thought about creating teams. Each one would have at least one wild hybrid, so we can do something even with instincts alone. As the training goes, we can do rounds in the house, so we are certain about all of our security systems.” Jihoon explained to you.
“Besides, we can adapt these teams and our training schedule to better adjust our natural abilities and preferences.” Dino completed. “We need you to help us with practical strategy, Y/n. We have little experience in real life combat as a group and…” His voice disappeared as he blushed.
“And we want to show how we still love you, Y/n, and how we don’t blame you but want to become strong for you.” Seungcheol smiled as he rested a hand on your good leg.
Your tired and defeated sigh didn’t escape the hybrids’ ears. They knew why you were so against them learning how to deal with real guns. This big family wasn’t easy to be formed and most of them had even harder pasts with weapons and violence. Even The8 understood and agreed that in an ideal world, none of his new brothers would ever have to pick up any gun.
But… The wild hybrids had come to you right after talking with the others and they knew how truly terrified all 13 of them were when their home was wrecked and you were in dire danger without any of them being actually capable of doing something to help. These days without your constant presence permitted them to think and discuss a lot.
“I understand.” Your voice just proved to the five boys that their initiative of taking the lead and becoming stronger with their brothers was the right decision. They would finally stop being victims of destiny and would face the world with an open chest. “I’ll talk with Youngjae to run some tests and we can plan your training.”
“Thank you, Y/n.” Jihoon squeezed your hand again, before opening a big smile. “Now, can we cuddle a bit?” The Lynx hybrid was so cute you had to laugh.
“I guess we can as long as we are careful.” Most of them didn’t even wait until you were finished and got comfortable around you. “You can go if you want to, The8 and Chan.” You were surprised to see both of the hybrids who would avoid much daily contact with you taking books out and also getting comfortable in their armchairs, with zero intention of leaving.

After your birthday and the crazy paperwork your everyday missions resulted in, your days were as peaceful as can be with 13 men running around your house and work. The routine made you totally forget that the complication in the scarlet mission still wasn’t completely resolved. It was a sunny and beautiful day, most of the boys were at home, just the foreigners hybrids decided to check some friends at the center, when you received The call.
“What did you just say?” You screamed as you got up and slammed your hand on the table. Ren’s voice trembled.
“I.. I’m really sorry, Y/n… Baeko and Jr are already heading your way! But… Miles Blackwell escaped custody.” The poor blonde flinched with the noise you made of pure hate. “I don’t think he can reach you before our official forces get him but you should be prepared…”
“Y/N!” Jeonghan, who almost never screams, yelled your name with so much desperation your face paled instantly.
“Y/n?” Ren also sounded scared but your silence was his font of fear.
“Too late, Ren… I think I’m going to need backup.” Before he could react, you hung up the phone and ran downstairs, where the hybrids were clearly distressed. “What happened?” All 9 heads turned to you. They were obvious at edge, with tense stances and aggressiveness signs.
“Someone is coming in the direction of the house. They are fast and there are a lot of them.” Hoshi was the nearest to the window, but most of them nodded their heads to confirm his words. “I smell danger.”

“Do you all understand the situation?” You asked as you distributed the guns of your arsenal.
“Yes.” Seungcheol responded. "Psychopath with support of other government found info on people in the center, you included, and now is coming here to kill you and kidnap us.” If the situation wasn’t this dire, you would have laughed. But you just nodded.
“They are here.” Jeonghan was looking out the window of your last floor and saw near 15 people trying to sneak into your property. Normally you would not be that worried, since your security system is quite good but against someone with that kind of backing, you were sure they wouldn’t stop before death.
“Ok, boys. Here is the plan.” You rushed them. The movement sensors outside the house started to blow up your phone. “I need you guys to stay here, in the weaponry. They probably won’t be able to enter the house at all but better safe than sorry, I guess. Although you guys never trained with a gun, Seungcheol and Mingyu know the basics, so just in case something goes wrong.” You heard a loud noise on the first floor.
“I’ll go and monitor the situation, maybe I can take some of them even before the backup arrives.” You smiled to calm down a little. “Don’t open the door. No matter what you listen to, don’t open the door. I’ll call you when it’s all done, ok?” You let a second phone with them before exiting the room and hearing they lock it.

The boys, now locked inside the weaponry, exchanged looks. All of them knew the situation was grave but they also believed you and the security of their home. Still… None of them were comfortable with your line of thinking, since preparing them for an emergency could mean there was the possibility of said emergency happening.
They all had some hand-to-hand combat training but none of them really knew how to be effective with a gun. Minghao and maybe Vernon were the only ones who were able to fully understand and really help you in a situation like that. So none of the Korean hybrids were naive enough to protest your instructions and decisions.
Jihoon, Jeonghan and Wonwoo kept looking outside the window through the curtains, trying to see something but also to not draw attention to the third floor. Dino, Seungkwan, Hoshi and Seokmin were passing around, studying the room they almost never enter and trying to calm down their energy. S. Coups and Mingyu thou sat in front of the door, listening with attention to all the movement outside.
Inside the room, no one was talking, but their nerves were relaxing as there were no alerting noises and the intruders seemed to still be stuck trying to enter the house. But everything changed when they heard a shot and you screamed. All of them were ready to unlock that door and run to your side.
“Stop!” Chan held the door with his back to stop his hyungs. “She said to wait for her call!”
“Did you just miss her literally screaming?” Seungkwan animal instincts almost took over. “Do you not smell her blood?” All 9 of them could practically feel your distress. Chan just had time to shake his head before there were more gunshots… They held their breath… The shots were coming from inside the house.
They all were full alert, some with flashbacks already creeping beyond all their work in therapy these last months while others were shaking and getting away from the door. As they couldn’t hear or capture any sign of you and your wellbeing, their trauma response took control, with their survival as the only goal.
Suddenly the heavy door received a hard blow from the other side. The younger ones whimpered. This made the older ones wake up a little, deciding that they had to get out of there safely before going after you… They would be useless if dead. So Wonwoo opened the curtains of the only window.
“Oh, they are all inside here!” A greasy and excited voice sounded from outside. Jeonghan and Jihoon got the guns you had put on their hands before everything started. The two passed them to the bigger ones, Mingyu and Seungcheol, both were trembling but did their best to point the guns to the also shaking door.
“Hurry, they are all inside, I guess they think all 13 are here…” Wonwoo whispered, screaming, to the others. “There is no lookout outside, we can go down by the roof and run to the center.” The feline hybrid grabbed Dino by hand to get him to move. The others followed, with Jihon helping. “Don’t look back, just run and be careful not to be seen.”
Just as Jeonghan turned around to help the two with the guns to climb on the roof, the door broke out of its frame, revealing numerous big men in black and with bigger guns.
“Found you.” The leader sang as he faced the terrified hybrids. Coups started to scream and just shot randomly in their direction, with Mingyu following suit. The men cursed. “Don’t kill them! They’re rare ones!” A voice soared above all the gunshots.
“Run! Go!” The two wild hybrids screamed to the cat one, who was already crying but listened to them, running after the youngsters. He could hear shouts and shots behind and below him but, for a miracle, Jeonghan arrived almost without a scratch at the path that led to the center. He just had to go a few meters before finding the boys, with government backup.
Baeko and Jr, who all of them knew, were dumbfounded to see the desperate hybrids. They were always super full of energy, so it was normal to not understand what they were saying but this time… It broke the hearts of the humans…
They could get the general idea of what happened, guiding the boys to behind their trucks, so the soldiers could raid and secure the house. Only after promising to bring you back, they didn’t specify if dead or alive, the diplomats were able to actually do their work.
Back at the house, Seungcheol and Mingyu didn’t last for long with their firearm power. The duo was actually able to incapacitate some of the men who decided to stay instead of going after the others. But they soon had their guns pulled from their hands. There was more cursing and some wrestling, which would be easier for the boys to escape if they weren’t so terrified.
“We just need you alive, no one will care if you’re losing some teeth or an arm.” The leader was pissed and fighting Seungcheol. He and Mingyu started to lose their respective fights. They could feel hope leaving them as the humans pounded their fists in their heads. Mingyu was ready to close his eyes and give up when two shots were heard.
“I’m so sorry!” They could barely respond to you through their tears.

You knew that day was weird as soon as you woke up to half of your hybrids staring at you. S. Coups, Jun, Woozi, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon were distributed around the room with their eyes trained on you, not missing a single movement. It was a little creepy to be honest. But you’re especially suspicious of them when you start to get up and all of them approach your bed too quickly for them to be innocent.
“What did you guys do?” You moaned as at least three of those huge beings decided it was a good idea to jump and bury you back in bed.
“What do you mean!?” Jun whined while he rubbed his cheeks on your side. “Did you forget what day it is today?”
“Hm… no? I’m almost sure I’m not forgetting any important dates, I have your birthdays on alarm.” You were so distracted by Wonwoo and Seungcheol snuggling on your side and stomach that you missed the look the other hybrids exchanged. Their hearts were warm with your care but they weren’t that happy that you didn’t know what was happening.
It took almost thirty minutes for you to be able to get up and to freshen up. The boys escorted you to the kitchen, where you found the rest of the hybrids running around and cooking. There wasn’t much chaos, Jeonghan and Joshua had the younger ones under control and everyone was doing their best in what seemed to be a serious and important mission.
“Morning, what’s the banquet for?” You joked as you counted the number of plates they were just getting ready at the dinner table. The words made everyone stop and stare at you with incredulous eyes. Even The8, who had stopped looking at you like you’re stupid all the time, was frozen and seemed to doubt his own ears.
“I can’t believe it.” One of them said, the ones behind you started to laugh. They refused to tell you what was happening after they accepted you had forgotten whatever it was.
“Well, today will be interesting…” Seungkwan also laughed as he sat at the dinner table. Most of the boys followed, also grinning. Hoshi was soon next to you and guided you to your chair at the head of the table.
“So, really? No one is going to tell me what is happening?” You love your boys, of course, but they were starting to annoy you. Especially since you had a not so great night of sleep previous to that. DK whined with your slightly harder tone but before any could react, your phone rang. Your brows furrowed when you saw who the caller was. “I have to take it. I’ll try to be quick so we can eat together.”
You smiled at them and went to another room, not forgetting to caress Dokyeom’s head as you passed by him. Thanks to the urge of your phone, you failed once again to notice the telepathy exchange between the hybrids with their eyes. It looked like they all understood some secret message in those 2 seconds you took to leave the room.
The story of the person on the other side of the call made you freeze, forgetting completely about the secrecy of your roommates. You were trembling a little while you rushed around the living room after your wallet and keys, not even noticing the art supplies on the sofa.
“What happened, Y/n? Where are you going?” Seungcheol asked you and all the others were behind him, probably also wanting the same answers.
“There’s a scarlet case. The team is needed as soon as possible.” You responded as you put on your coat. “Jun can explain it in more detail… But I need to go now, I'll be back as soon as all of this is resolved, ok?” Kissing Coups’ cheek and waving the others goodbye, you ran to your car and were soon out of view. The hybrids were silent for a minute before all the eyes were on Jun. The poor feline hybrid scratched his head and sighed.
“A scarlet case is like when Coups-hyung found her…” The other 12 hybrids haven’t heard this term before, Junhui himself only heard it by accident when he was trying to smell your scent in your office when you had disappeared and JayB was talking on the phone outside the door. “When a member of the organization is in life danger and more drastic actions have to happen.”
This simple explanation was enough to make all the boys worry about your situation. They were starting to cancel all their plans for the special day and some were even already cleaning up all the traces of any party. Seungcheol, Jihoon and Soonyoung exchanged looks and nods before stepping up to their somewhat natural roles in the family.
It was really late when you came back, like around 10 p.m. late. As soon as you opened the door, you could feel the anxiety coming from the boys, who had crowded the entrance hall. Smiling at them, you reassured all that you were fine and the case was a success. You just needed a bath and were ready to give them all your attention, glad that the day after was a day off.
“No time for bath, Y/n! We need you quickly here!” BooSeokSoon didn’t even let you protest that you were still smelling blood before dragging you to your dining room. You tried to call the others, maybe the more rational ones like Woozi or Wonwoo to help you but none of the other hybrids met your desperate and curious eyes.
Joshua came from behind, taking advantage of your arms being locked in the dog hybrids, and blocked your eyes with his hands. Your instincts, still tense because of the case, tried to kick in but the hybrids had got much stronger than you in those months with gym access. Just as you were going to tell them to cut it, they freed you completely.
“Happy Birthday!” All of the 13 hybrids congratulated you with loud voices. Even the still kinda standoffish The8! You took all of it in silence, looked around the room, seeing their efforts in the decorations and the food still hot on the table. “Y/n?” Vernon took a step closer to you, worried about your lack of response. They all were… The day hasn't gone the way they had planned and none of them really knew how to celebrate a birthday… They were scared you hated all of it.
“I… Thank you, guys. I loved it.” Your eyes were full of tears as you made the point of looking every single one in their eyes. “I really loved it. Thank you.” The last time you had received such care on such a day, which means more than a ‘happy birthday’ whispered during missions, was before your parents were gone.
You hugged all of them and couldn’t stop to thank them. Yes, even Minghao accepted your hug with a little pat on your back before taking two steps to separate and go out of your reach. Your new family sat around the table, everyone more than happy and warm.
Your tears ran down your face while the smile you had on became more and more bright, knowing that while you helped them with their trauma, they were also healing you. You blew your candles seconds before midnight.

“Leo seems to be fighting again, brother.” The Archangel told the Seraphim that was seated on a golden chair. The two angels of different ranks were watching the demon realm. After a lifetime of a peaceful existence, the demon Taekwoon suddenly went berserk. It won’t be a week if Leo didn’t find something to destroy during the whole century.
The Seraphim sighed. Humans would just think there was some bad energy around their Era, ordinary angels would say Leo was crazy and something should be done about him. But not that Seraphim… No… That male angel knew why Leo had gotten violent during that time… And he could only sigh everytime that demon showed up in his magic waters.
“I don’t want to overstep, brother Leeteuk… But…”
“Say it, Suho. You couldn’t possibly give me a bad idea at the moment.” Jungsu was really tired… All of this because Yesung was afraid of Y/n getting too close to that demon… They should just let their spoiled sister do whatever she wants, as always. The younger angel nodded.
“Hm… How about talking to Leo? He already gave us a lot of face waiting for two centuries before asking about her… And he said at the beginning that he just wanted information, not to fight us…” The Archangel gave a pause. “Also, the demon didn’t really offend us, he kept all his rage on the demon realm.”
“You’re right, Suho.” Jungsu rubbed his temples. “Call brother Shindong. I want him to go.” The Archangel nodded again, quickly leaving the powerful one and going to look for the other Seraphim.

Why? Why was that feeling never going away? Leo could feel the madness bubbling inside of him, he could feel the rage his kind had long fed against the angel race, he could feel the sense of loss that appeared every time he thought about her… But why? Leo really couldn’t understand the reason why he was feeling all of that.
After the night the angel had come to say her goodbyes, Leo didn’t feel anything. He had a bad premonition right after she left but it soon was crushed by the thought she was probably just being a drama queen to get his attention. So, Leo soon forgot about it. But then a month passed… A single month was nothing for eternal beings but… The angel used to go to his mansion every day…
Then, a year passed. Leo still was happy that his relaxed life was back. Then 25 years went… Even the other 5 great demons noticed that Leo wasn’t receiving the usual angelic visit. By the time it hit 50 years without the angel, Leo finally noticed that something was wrong. He started to notice that there was no more laughing around him, no more jokes between the servants, no more surprise visits from N or Ravi…
“What do you mean ‘why won't you go there anymore’? Last time I did, you shouted Y/n’s name and told ‘me’ that it was useless to try to catch your attention disappearing… And after you saw it was me you literally freaked out and beated me up in anger. You went full demon lord on me, I won’t go to your house until Y/n is back.” Ravi pouted when Leo asked him his motive after almost 70 years the angel left.
When the first century without you arrived, Leo suddenly noticed something really wrong with him. He looked around and discovered he was in the middle of punishing a slave… When he thought about the reason… It seemed that the slave had brought to his afternoon tea a human cake… The first recipe Y/n had teached to his servants… That triggered an unstoppable rage inside him.
That event made Leo isolate himself. He went through every single memory he had from that period of time since the crazy and innocent angel left. Finally he was able to realise that, as the decades went by, his episodes of blacking out and becoming a complete rage demon were getting more and more common…
When Leo came back from the isolation, it was already 150 years since the angel was gone. The demon had in mind that maybe the female had done something to him that made him lose control without her. Then, he went around the demon territory, trying to hear some news about her. Normally when angels like Y/n went on missions it was about demons getting out of control in other worlds.
But it had no results… Not even Hyuk’s connections could tell him anything about that exact angel. That made Leo even more uneasy… Finally, after 200 years, he decided to use his good relationship with the Seraphim family to reach out for them and ask about her. But who would know that as soon as the family heard about his questions, he would be thrown out of that world directly to the demon plane?
They didn’t even tell him anything about Y/n, just saying something like ‘She’s fine and away from you’ before forcing him back. That event made Leo lose most of his slim trust on angels and he started to use force to get their attention again. Since he couldn’t talk, he would cause trouble until they were willing.

“Brother!” Yesung and Eunhyuk entered the big room with determined pace and loud voices. Leeteuk sighed and rubbed his forehead. He knew that as soon as they heard about his decision the duo would come after him.
“You can go, Suho. Please, tell brother Shindong what we talked about before he goes.” The oldest gave a hand sign for the youngest, who soon fled from the room, leaving the three Seraphim for themselves. “Now” Leeteuk turned to the younger duo “what do you guys want, not showing the minimum respect? I’m working, for Heavens’ sake!”
“Brother! I’m sorry but how can you send brother Shindong to talk with that demon?!” Yesung got closer to Leeteuk’s table and gave him a light bow before starting to complain.
“Yeah, I’m sorry, whatever. If it wasn’t important, I would be far away from this room but how can you indulge the demands of that demon that was misleading our little sister and making her want to fall?” Eunhyuk wasn’t so polite and straight up banged his hands on Leeteuk’s table.
“How come you two are always fighting but when it comes to Y/n both of you are like super protective human parents? Isn’t she already grounded there with the dream devils to defeat? Why can’t I give some answers to the poor soul?” The more powerful Seraphim didn’t have patience to deal with the temperamental brothers that day.
“What do you mean ‘grounded’? She can leave whenever she wants!”
“Yeah! She can leave, as long as she decides to forget about that silly and irresponsible crush she thinks she has with that creature.” The oldest angel couldn’t stop himself from rolling his eyes for the other two. They had the mentality of most warrior class angels. They never forgot their hatred for the demon kind nor could understand why their little sister would like a demon lord.
“You two need to calm down.” Leeteuk as an administrator class angel didn’t have so much hate. He didn’t see the problem in an interspecies relationship and he didn’t mind having to travel to see his fallen sister if it was really what she wanted. At least she would still be master of her own destiny, not like those angels that fell in disgrace and dishonor.
“You think falling for a demon would make her happy?” The duo were judgemental.
“No, I think falling for love would. And that’s why I’m sending Shindong there. If the demon truly feels something for her, then we all will stop interfering. But, if it’s just a fling for him, a whim, I’ll destroy any chance for Y/n to continue with that insane idea.” The leader’s voice was firm and serious, making even the unruled Eunhyuk to shut up.

“M-Master…” The old slave butler called for Leo’s attention with a tiny voice so it wouldn’t startle the demon. Leo only made a hand gesture to allow the slave to talk. “Hm… Se-Seraphim Shindong is here… He said that you wanted to talk to him, sir… Should I let him in?” The poor stupid soul was trembleling. It knew that the angel at their doorstep was Lady Y/n’s brother.
“Guide him here, to my study.” Leo’s order was succinct and final. But it didn’t carry all the emotions the demon was feeling. When the angel entered the room and the butler closed the door, Leo greeted him with sarcasm and a diabolic smile, as a demon should. “So, you finally decided to talk with me, Seraphim?”
“Let’s cut the chase, Leo… We both know that the less time I stay here, the better.” The angel sat at the chair in front of the demon. “I’m here to answer your question about Y/n… But first, before I tell you everything I know, I need you to be just as honest with me.” Shindong was the best at negotiations, that’s why Leeteuk sended him. Leo knew that and was ready to agree with him.
“What do you want? I’ll answer one question only.” Leo wasn’t dumb, he knew the angels wouldn’t ever do anything free. Especially for a demon like lord him.
“Why? It doesn’t matter how I look at it, you hated Y/n coming everyday to annoy you. So, why? Why do you want to know about her?” The golden angelic eyes were glued at Taekwoon. “I thought you would thank my brothers for taking her from your side?”
“...” Leo hesitated to answer right away. After some minutes of thinking, the demon opened his mouth. “I… I think I got used to her presence here… I don’t really, honestly, know the answer to your question, Seraphim… I just know that I need to see her, I need to hear her voice, I need to be annoyed by her… That’s all I know.” His matter of fact tone left Shindong speechless.
“Well… I couldn’t ask for more honesty, I guess…” The angel shook his head after studying the demon’s expression for some silent minutes. “As promised, Y/n is in a dream dimension. She was forced to go there to fight against dream demons who were attacking humans without restraints.”
“Forced, you say?” Leo lifted a brow and Shondong noded.
“Yes, to be far away from you, her stupid brothers decided to lock her up in the dimension, she can only get out if the being that put her there let her leave or if she, as an angel, falls. As for her physical body, it’s resting perfectly safe in her room at our mansion.” The angel shrugged.
“So… when she can get out of there? I’m aware that the dream demons have been well behaved since last century.” That made Shindong let out a hopeless laugh.
“Eunhyuk gave her the condition of forgetting about you to bring her back.”
“So, she’s there until now because…” Leo felt his throat somehow closing. The angel didn’t answer him but became serious instead. Leo watched the Seraphim curve his body closer to his and say in a sober tone.
“Tell me, oh great demon lord Leo, if Y/n ever chooses to fall, would you accept her here? Or would you leave her to her own devices and regrets?” The demon was frozen by that question. He couldn’t even understand the words he let out as a reply.
“I wouldn’t let her regret it.” Both his and the angel’s eyes were big in surprise. None of them were expecting that but at the same time, Shindong was really satisfied with Leo’s words.
“Oh? Good to know that” A female voice came from the door, giving Shindong and Leo goosebumps. “Because I kinda did something…”

You and the hybrids had a special mission today. Not all of them though, only the dongsaengs, the youngsters. The group was called to help with the kids at the adoption center, most of them had just arrived and needed some fun. Even The8 was dragged to go by Mingyu and Dokyeom. N was ready to receive you all when you arrived at the center in the morning.
“Come on, Y/n. Today you’ll help me with their files while the hybrids play with them, fine?” The older man grabbed your arm and asked to your hybrids. They looked at you and nodded after seeing you smiling. “Great! You all just need to follow this hallway, Leo and Ravi are waiting for you guys already. I promise to return her at lunchtime.”
The boys watched you being dragged to a side room by the human. Vernon and Mingyu unconsciously stepped forward, hesitant to be in that environment without you near. Seungkwan and Dokyeom were already used, due their regular visits to the medical bay with Hoshi, so each of them grabbed their friends hands and started to guide them down the hall that N had pointed.
Minghao and Dino just exchanged a look before following behind the hyper hybrids. Neither of them was really thrilled about what they were about to do, since Dino had almost never interacted with younger hybrids and The8 just saw hybrid children when they were in desperate situations. It’s fair to say that they were ready to be ignored by the kids.
To be honest, Seungkwan was expecting that as soon as he opened the door, he would be able to see the little ones. But, not only were there no cuties, it was only the lion and the hedgehog hybrids waiting with light expressions.
The poor pomeranian hybrid freezed at the door. He did know the predator but it didn’t make going near him any easier. The other canines hybrids also stopped, waiting for permission to enter. The three wild hybrids didn't even hesitate though, rushing to Ravi and introducing their new brother.
“So, here are the rules and what you need to do if something bad happens inside. Make sure to understand well before meeting the cubs.” Leo retrieved his aura the best he could before starting to explain what the boys needed to know. Since they all besides The8 knew the Investigators, soon everyone was able to get comfortable to ask questions and make sure they knew how to make the children relaxed enough.
Seungkwan was the first to go through the door to the playroom. The boy may be a little emotional but he couldn’t love kids more than he already did. He was fast to say hi to Hyuk, not wasting any time on getting close to the neediest kids. Of course he was ready to play with all of them but he couldn’t resist the ones who straight up ran to him and demanded attention and reactions all the time.
Seokmin was the second, being just as fast to find a group to play with. The hype puppies soon discovered his energy and his friendliness. Those without fear and with a little too much vivacity finally felt that they had an adult that could accompany them without them having to dose around their wants. With DK, they could run free and play as much as they liked. Later, your golden retriever hybrid thanked the skies for their small bodies or he would be lost forever.
Mingyu was the third to follow, dragging Chan with him. The two marine hybrids were directed to play in the medium pool the center had after a glass door where they could be seen all the time with the few marine kids there were. It was really just a few, so they divided the carnivores with Chan from the omnivores with Mingyu.
To everyone’s surprise, Chan was able to have real deep talks with the two littles that stayed with him… They were really struggling with their own situations and needed some guidance… Mingyu’s group was funny and amusing to the regular employees. He was the most serious one, listening to the kids' stories and giving them the reactions they expected. The walrus hybrid was really dedicated to his role of listener even when the stories got really absurd and clearly childish.
Vernon was shy but still followed his brothers inside the room. He soon noticed that his hesitation was unnecessary. The kitties who were excited and didn’t really have any serious trauma treatment were instantly attracted to him. They dragged him around the room before deciding that playing makeup and princess was the ideal activite to do with Vernon. The poor American cocker spaniel hybrid didn’t have a chance against their little brushes.
The8 was smiling a little when he went through the door and closed it behind him. His eyes glanced around the room before the western marsh harrier hybrid settled in a corner of the busy room. He saw a bunch of toys around the floor and decided to organize them. As he worked, sometimes he would lift his eyes and see how much his new and innocent brothers were happy, surrounded by the cubs.
Minghao was distracted when he touched it for the first time. Below a small cabinet, while going to get a ball that escaped him, the adult hybrid felt a soft fur right before a loud sound of distress and a sharp pain hit him. Lowing his head, he was able to find a black panther's cub, trembling and clearly terrified of him. Retracting his hand, The8 softens his voice and his scent, trying to calm the poor child.
That was what you came back to only four hours later. As soon as N freed you, you fled to the kids playroom. From there you could hear screams and crazy activity. They were obviously having the time of their life but still… You were worried about some of your hybrids. Just as you opened the door, you could see Dokyeom being attacked by an army of fluffies and Seungkwan reading a book for the cuties, doing the voices and everything.
Mingyu screamed your name from outside, where he had a fish hybrid on his lap and another using his legs to float in the pool. Chan didn’t even notice you, as he was laughing and nodding his head at something the pre-teens near him had said. Vernon was also being attacked but by a different army… Oh… The boys would never let him forget about how good he looked with purple blush and glitter…
When you found The8, he was in his harrier form, grooming a little feline cub with so much care that you couldn’t hold a sound escaping you. He definitely heard but decided to just ignore you and keep working with his new protegee. Even before you all ate lunch, Ken and Honbin were already begging for you guys to come again.

“Achoo!” Hoshi immediately started to laugh at his tsundere friend’s sneeze.
“Are you guys sure you want to help here? I think I can manage it, I don't want your allergies to start.” You stated as you dropped the buckets and rags on the first step of the small stairs that would lead to your attic.
“Don’t worry, Y/n, we want to help so we’ll help.” Seungcheol distributed a mask and a pair of gloves to Hoshi and Jihoon. The three of them decided to help you on finally cleaning the one room in your house that you haven’t entered since your parents death. It wasn’t because of trauma or something… You liked to believe that at least. Well, there were most of your parents' personal possessions.
You just laughed in response to your hybrids’ determination. The trio was more than ready to start the cleaning, already dividing the tasks and grabbing their own bucket and rag. Woozi was responsible for the first defense, taking care of the spider webs and emptying the boxes. Hoshi would sweep and wipe the floor and walls after the boxes were out. Seungcheol needed to wipe everything Woozi took out and place them down the stars for you to determine what was going back and what wasn’t.
You were going to organize and keep track of the time so the poor hybrids didn’t get sick from all the dust and things. They were stubborn enough about letting you join the real cleaning since you had just got better from your flu. After putting on some nice and exciting music, you four started to work. It didn’t take long before you all started to dance while working.
The house were really quiet that day, since everyone had some activity at the center or just didn’t want to stay home on a nice sunny day. The people from the government needed some documents your father had archived with his other things, so that’s why you decided to use the chance and clean your attic a little.
The retractable stairs were located next to your training room, a room you almost never used anymore since it didn’t have space for all of you now. Before you could keep any train of thought, Seungcheol handed you the first item from the first box they had cleaned. It was a Russian Doll painted like a cute brown bear. You gave off a little giggle.
“Oh, I didn’t know we had this yet.” The hybrids’ ears trembled in your direction, showing that they were listening. “See, these dolls were brought by my father, when he had a mission in Russia. He came back with presents to my mother and I and these dolls were for me.” You started to open it on the floor to show them. Soon there were 13 dolls in front of you, one smaller than the one before.
“My mother hated it because you can barely see the last dolls but my father said I should keep it as a woman had told him about how I would never be alone. I don’t remember where my mother put it until today.” You laughed again. “I guess it’s a good thing to put down stairs.” Distracted by memories, you didn’t notice the look the boys exchanged after studying the dolls enough to deduce the dolls were their animal parts.
After that, your work was progressing smoothly. You stopped here and there to tell the boys stories about some of the objects you were finding, like the first weapon you ever trained with or more souvenirs your parents brought home with them. There were even some old clothing and items from the hybrids they had adopted and helped raise you.
You spoke with care and the boys seemed to enjoy the stories. Hoshi was actually really interested in your father’s cd collection, while Jihoon demanded you let him keep your mother’s fairy lights packages. Your family had some weird collection habits. Meanwhile, Seungcheol loved the old, or as he called them ‘classic’, clothes and accessories accumulated in some boxes.
You laughed a lot, not even noticing how the trio was taking care of your wounds before they even opened. The memories didn’t hurt as much as you were anticipating, thanks to your dear hybrids who never let you dwell too much in particularly painful ones. Before dinner time, you had finished cleaning and organizing everything. Including the file the government needed.
“Guys, I think I heard the others arriving. I’ll go and ask them to help to move the things we’ll keep around the house down here.” The trio just nodded and your form was soon out of view. The three hybrids exchanged another look and hurried up to finish the last touches and closing the retractable stair. The younger ones nodded to the oldest, who approached the Russian Dolls and kneeled in a respectable manner. The other two followed him.
If you were there, you would notice the strange atmosfere, but they had made sure you were distracted by their brothers. And yes, the trio already saw the rest as their brothers, their dear and precious family, with you as part of that too, of course. They stared at the dolls like something really grave was about to happen.
"Anh… Hello.” S. Coups' deep voice sounded across the hallway. “Y/n didn’t exactly introduce us but we found the need to say hi. We know, we can feel how much you two loved your daughter and we wanted to tell you that we’ll protect her just like you two did. She is safe now… and her new family will take care of her.” He bowed down, resting his hands and forehead on the floor.
“We thank you for the hard work. Hope you can rest in true peace now. We’re here… We won’t go anywhere and she will never be alone again.” Hoshi’s tail was flapping behind him, showing how much confidence he had in his promise. “We, well most of us, love her, we won’t let neither of you down. Thank you for giving us a chance to cross paths with her.” The canine hybrid followed his alpha.
“Sorry we’re a little late.” Jihoon didn’t speak much but his emotions and seriousness were evident. He also bowed down. The boys didn’t have the chance to see the weird way the last sunbeams shone in that doll before sundown. They had to get up as soon as they were able to listen to your steps nearing the first floor stairs, followed by their brothers.

Today the strike team had outdoor training. Normally you guys would be out for some vicious Paintball but, this time, some of your hybrids decided to come with you, so the team had already agreed to tone it down. No one wanted to repeat when the hybrids came to your training and almost went feral against the other boys.
Seungcheol, Wonwoo, Mingyu and Vernon wanted to learn a little about fireguns, since the four of them thought about maybe helping the team on some less dangerous missions. Most of the others prefered the self-defense classes or theoretical ones, avoiding bloody conflicts. So that’s how you ended up staring at your four chillest darlings, all armed up.
“Okay, YG, you take BamBam and teach the newbies how to play. We will do one just for fun and after we do a Strike Team practice, when they are more acclimated.” Everybody nodded when JayB started to divide the tasks. The maknaes from the Strike Team were fast to drag your boys to the other side of the obstacle field.
“You did that just so we could have a chance to win against Yug.” You poked JayB’s arm while laughing.
“I won’t confirm nor deny it.” Your vice leader just rolled his eyes at you and started to develop a strategy with Jinyoug to end your crazy maknaes. And your cute hybrids. You could see them from your position and couldn’t help but smile when Vernon’s confused face earned a shake from BamBam.
Normally, those four were the ones you didn’t have to worry about burning the house down. Although Mingyu was clumsy and Vernon was often in another reality, they both didn’t really cause chaos by themselves. So you were quite excited to see how they would deal with a fun but tough situation like this paintball round.
Oh… How wrong were you… Those boys weren’t a dead weight or a comedy relief in your war with the youngests from the Strike Team. Jinyoung and Youngjae made sure you knew that the moment both of them had to literally roll in the dirt to escape their shots. Five minutes in and they were capable of taking out Youngjae already.
“How the hell do they know how to shoot?!” Jackson screamed at you from behind a wooden board that was protecting him from your bear hybrid.
“Believe me, I’m just as surprised as you!” You shouted back. Your heart almost stopped when you were barely able to glance at their location before Vernon didn’t even hesitate to target you. You were never as glad for your early training then at that very moment. Something about the serious expression on their faces made you have chills all over.
“Sorry, Y/n!” You heard Mingyu’s voice somewhere on your right. “But the pros said we had a mission and if we won, we could ask them anything about you!” His tone had an obvious cheeky tone that made you tremble. You didn’t care if they discover anything about you… But… His tone made you kinda scared of what they would ask if given this chance.
“I think it is time for us to teach these boys a lesson.” Mark’s sober voice sounded from behind Jinyoung. The rest of your team nodded and soon you’re all in formation, ready to start playing as you mean business. Everyone assumed their already known positions and left you, Jackson and Mark responsible for Yugyeom and Bambam, while JJ Project were going after your hybrids. They knew you could never point a gun to those boys, even if it was just a game.

The adrenaline was pumping in the hybrids' veins. They were quite proud of how fast they were able to follow the gun specialist’s instructions and for the first time they were almost weightless as they had a goal, a mission, a motive to work together. Even if there was no real danger, the four boys were almost naturals on tactical understanding.
Seungcheol had a general vibe of a leader and a respectable enemy, while Wonwoo was like a maniac killer who would be too sane that he would be insane. Mingyu would just make all the absent hybrids quiver in terror and Vernon just looked like an experient and dangerous street troublemaker. For those who didn’t know them, they looked terrifying.
What a surprise when they noticed that you weren’t the one against them but it was JJP instead? The four of them exchanged a smile before rushing confidently towards their ‘enemies’. Wonwoo and Cheol decided to go against JayB, as they had seen the human taking you down in a fight before. The younger ones were after JY, who YG had warned them over and over again.
The rules stated that one had to take 3 critical shots or 1 fatal shot to be considered out. Early, They had hitted 1 shot each on Youngjae, that’s why he was out already. By the 10 minute mark, they were all still alive, Coups and Vernon being hit once, Wonwoo and Mingyu twice. On your side, you had been hit twice too and Jackson was also out but your side was able to get Bambam out.
Back to your hybrids, they were actually giving your brothers in arms quite the trouble. Of course they couldn’t hit the duo, the fact they could doge and survive for such a long time against trained assassins was already a victory. That was why they weren’t even upset when, by the mark of 30 minutes, their loss was officially proclaimed.
“Hm… Why does Yugyeom have so much paint on his head?” Wonwoo tilted his head in confusion when you brought his team leader who was whining in pain. Mark just left out a wicked laugh.
“We wanted to make sure he was dead.” The oldest’s answer made all the team, besides YG, laugh out loud. You shove the boy in his best friend’s direction and approach your hybrids, who were taking off their armour just now.
“Hey guys!” You jumped against Cheol’s back. “I heard you all actually lasted for 16 minutes in total! Great job!” All of their faces gained a few shades of red, since all of them were back to their kinda timid personalities. “I’m so proud of you! Did you guys have fun?”
“Yeah, we really enjoyed this.” Mingyu got close to you and rubbed his wet head on your exposed neck. “Bam said that we could become quite good if we trained a little more…”
“Can we, Y/n?” Vernon grabbed your free hand. You lifted a brow and glanced around their faces. Although the oldests didn’t say anything, they clearly had a new spark in their eyes, causing you to smile bigger by the second.
“Of course you all can! But! I need you all to promise that just once a week and always supervised! Always!” You were almost instantly shook off the bear hybrid when everyone started to nod with all the enthusiasm they could gather.

The moment you opened your eyes, you regretted it. Your head was just as heavy as when you had gone to sleep, your eyes wanted to stay closed and your nose and throat decided to burn together. Honestly, you normally were already a drama queen, now? Being sick? You just wanted to be dead.
It was rare for you to get sick like this. Sure, day in and day out you were in bed rest for almost losing your life but you were never this sick… Thinking through the headache, you guessed that not even Junhui that was with you the longer had ever seen you sick, you couldn’t even think properly.
Speaking of the devil… Just as you were able to send a voice message with your testament to Jingyoung and to ask for a break that day, your blessed hybrids found it weird for you to take so long to go down after your alarm. So, they sent a search party to knock on your door. You just growed and it was opened to reveal Seungcheol, Jihoon, Seungkwan and Chan’s heads.
“You’re okay?” The oldest hybrid asked with a little voice as they entered your room after you motioned that they could just enter.
“Not really.” Your tone was low and your voice was scratching your throat everytime you speaked. Jihoon, your wild big cat, whined, feeling the difference in your scent. He tried to get in the bed with you but you stopped him. “No, Woozi, you can’t. I don’t want you getting sick too.” Your eyes were almost closed due to the headache.
“Here.” Seungkwan had sprinted out of the room and back without you even hearing his steps. He was offering two masks to you and the wild one, who thanked him with a smile. You just laughed, not believing their efficiency, and rolled your eyes as Jihoon dressed you with the health mask, doing the same with him before jumping beside you and cuddling.
“I think you have a fever…” Seungcheol said with his hand on your forehead. He and the maknaes also had putted masks. You just growed a little more.
“I’ll call Namjoon-hyung and ask Mingyu to prepare something for her to eat.” Dino looked at the oldest, waiting for an approval before taking off to act on his idea.
“He knows that Mingyu too is older than he, right?” Seungkwan complained as he opened your windows so the natural light could enter the room.
“Well, do you?” You asked, teasing him. He just rolled his eyes at you and told you to shut up and continued to make the room brighter and ventilated. “Cheol, can I ask you to take care of the others today? I’m sorry… I’ll be better as soon as possible, promise.” The oldest’s face distorted hearing your words.
“Of course! Who do you think I am, Y/n?!” His loud outburst made you wince. “Sorry, anyway, you just need to worry about getting better at your own pace, we’ll take care of the rest.” The bear hybrid smiled and caressed your forehead. You decided to just nod for now and do something to thank them another day.
Chan then came back with the phone, being followed by Wonwoo, Junhui and Dokyeom, all with masks and wet eyes. The youngest handed you the phone, through where you heard Namjoon’s voice. You two talked and you gave the phone back to the hybrids so the doctor could tell them what you needed.
“Y/n!” Your clingy boys winned and got on your bed with you and Jihoon, who was almost asleep, to cuddle you two too.
“Yah! Don’t agitate her too much!” You were almost dying under all your fluffies when Joshua and Minghao entered the room. They exchanged infos with Cheol and soon were out again, coming back soon with Mingyu, Jeonghan and Hoshi and bringing some light warm food. You smiled and thanked them. Although The8 still avoided being too close to you, he didn’t avoid you all the time anymore, so most of your hybrids were in your room at that moment.
“I found it!” The last one, Vernon, also entered the room, with a cup of water and some pills in his hands. It was the medicine Namjoon had told them to give you. Laughing as much as your hurted throat allowed, you thanked them, eating the porridge and taking the pill before closing your eyes and easily slipping back to sleep.
“I love you all so much…” Your voice disappeared with your consciousness.

You were too far, dreaming, to notice what the hybrids decided to do after you passed out. You were completely oblivious to how the clingy ones, Jun, Jihoon, Seokmin and Wonwoo had dominated your sides, leaving enough space just so the responsible ones, Seungcheol and Jeonghan, could take your temperature from time to time.
The8, Vernon and Mingyu decided to sit on the fluffy rug you had next your bed to read. Seungkwan, Joshua, Soonyoung and Chan laid around the floor, near the ones reading, and played co-op games on their new phones. None of them even thought about going to the center or even doing anything in another room of the house.
The group made their best to not bother your sleep while they themselves started to drift one by one to dreamland too. Soonyoung and Vernon were sent on a mission to bring all their pillows and the maximum number of blankets they could. Being supervised by Jeonghan, they didn’t even cause you to flinch, making them all glad for the first time in their lives that they had learned how to move without a single sound when necessary.
So, when you woke up, a few hours later, already feeling a little less ready to die, what a surprise to see your bed and floor occupied by the hybrids and their plushies. You stirred a little to be able to see all of them, who were in deep sleep at the moment, trying not to wake any of them up. Oh… What a failure… As soon as your upper half was free from Junhui and Jihoon’s arms, your eyes found The8’s ones, staring right at your still sick soul.
“They truly love you. Aren’t you happy?”
“I’m not good enough to bite back today, The8.” You sighed but the hybrid just gave you a light giggle.
“I’m not trying to make you feel worse, Y/s.” He gave you a small and unusual smile. “I’m stating facts. They do love you a lot. So don’t be sick anymore, ok? It’s enough that they have to worry everytime you go out that door.” Then he murmured something that just a hybrid could have heard, which means you didn’t hear his grumpy ‘we all kinda do.’
“Ok, I promise to be more careful.” You smiled back as he acknowledged it. Then he shook Jeonghan, who was the nearest to him, so the feline hybrid could help you with more medicine and any other thing you needed him to.

“It was a quiet Christmas night. I had just returned to the dorms where I lived with your uncles when I had a craving of french fries from McDonald’s. Jin-hyung had just finished fixing dinner but I really needed that fries as soon as possible. So much for his rage, I ate with them and went out to search for an open Mc within 2 hours to Christmas day.
When I arrived at one near home, I just ordered the biggest fries I could get and sat near the window since almost nobody was on the streets. Soon, the door rang, attracting my attention. At that moment, the fries on my hand fell on the table and my mouth opened wide… It was the most beautiful woman that had just entered that Mc.
She seemed to glow in contrast with the dark night outside and her face was red from the cold. The girl went to the cashier and just when I heard her clear and adorable laugh I woke up from my shock. The girl sat a few couches near me, drinking her coffee while messing with her phone. She hasn't seen me yet. But when we do have a brief eye contact, she smiles… What made me mesmerized forever.
And that, kids, is the reason we have a Ronald McDonald in our tree every Christmas, it was the first time I saw your mom.” Your cheeky husband finished telling the story to your 7 and 3 years old children. You smiled as they ran away to play with their new toys and you approached Jungkook. You give him a quick kiss before teasing.
“Shouldn’t you tell them that that Christmas tree ornament was actually given by Jimin, when he dared you to put it on my parents Christmas tree?” He laughed. “And that you just liked to have everyone asking you why we have it?”
“Shh, my babies don’t need to know that! I just made a holiday heirloom for us!” His eyes glowed as you rolled yours.
“Also, we met at Namjoon’s birthday party, not even near Christmas.” The forever golden maknae just laughed out loud, kissing you before running to annoy the children.
The Christmas party Tony was hosting was still with full force when Bucky decided that it was enough for him, near 3 in the morning. He went back to the compound with his motorcycle after saying goodbye to his now friends and reassuring Steve that he was good. His way was quiet and with no problems, letting his mind wander to how he used to celebrate his holidays before the war.
Those were the moments that he would miss you the most. Miss how you were always bright, always jumping on his arms, always nagging Steve, always… being you. The way you laughed and loved the snow falling, how your face was always red after just a few minutes playing with it outside, the way you never let him sulk during festivides… Yeah, he really missed you.
Bucky arrived at the compound, finding it weird with a box at the front door. He went to investigate with care since it wouldn’t be the first time the Avengers got sended a bomb by mail. The super soldier had determined that the small box was safe before noticing his name written as the destinataire. Looking around, he decided to take it to his room.
There, Bucky sat on his bed and, without even changing, started to open the box. What was inside made his eyes burn with tears. He didn’t continue, just sprinting out the door again, searching around desperately. No one was there besides him and his super soldier’s senses also couldn’t detect anyone but it still took Bucky at least 10 minutes of fruitless search to accept this fact.
Back at his room and at the box that invoked so many memories on him, the brunette could feel his hand trembling as he reached for the first item of the package. Taking a deep breath, he rested his eyes at the photo of the love of his life. You were laughing at the camera that Bucky knew he had been behind at the time.
He had lost most of his small belongings when he disappeared. Steve couldn’t even find you when he got back, let alone photos and other objects of your life together. Taking another shaking breath, Bucky got to the next item of the box… An old dried bouquet you had made after your last picnic date, right before he left.
The whole box was a time capsule for Bucky, full of memories and small gifts you had collected from him during the relationship. Photos, small jewelries, dry flowers and small letters you two had exchanged behind your parents’ backs. He couldn’t believe it when he realised that he was crying… The big and scary Winter Soldier finally couldn’t deal with his feelings and broke seeing you again.
At the end of the box was a sealed letter. So discreet that Bucky would have missed it if he wasn’t desperate for more ‘you’. In the envelope, he read ‘I’m just giving back what she wanted you to have. Take care.’. He didn’t recognise the letter and there was no more evidence that it wasn’t the person themselves who had sent it to him.

Later that morning, Steve arrived at the compound. He knew his friend had come back early but he was nowhere to be seen. Normally Bucky wouldn’t be able to sleep well during the holidays, so his bedroom was the last place he went to search for him. The super soldier was startled when he found James on the floor, trembling. Before the blonde could ask, the other offered him the paper he was holding… It was a letter… A goodbye letter from someone even the best Stark tech couldn’t find… You.
