I'm trying to determine why I find Prince Yu so endearing and reassuring, even though he will not hesitate to kill civilians for his own gain. And I think I figured it out. He seems this way, because he in no way thinks anything he does is immoral. He feels genuine and straightforward, because this is like a game of go to him. You play, you try to foresee and counteract your opponents moves, and there is nothing shameful about this, it's even righteous. So why would he feel that he's s bad person? Of course not. He's an upstanding noble man! And thus that's what he radiates, even as he orders terrible things.
