Reyes here. Latest Blackwatch intelligence indicates heavy Tumblr User numbers inside the power station. Expect Writers, Artists, Bastions, and some OR-14s.
Here are my two drawings for the Blackwatch Big Bang! I teamed up with @nayrusol42, for their story: “The Overwatch Ministry of time.” Which is still being updated! :)

Due to some severe lacking on my end, there are a few changes coming up. The schedule is the main change, but of course that will affect a couple of things too.
If you're a writer that has already sent in a summary, you will unfortunately have to send in another when the time comes. Just keep track of the original and edit if needed then.
Also, to help prevent anymore slow response times and [me] being late on meeting deadlines, I'm also going to be opening up a few spaces for moderators to help out on both our discord server, and in general. If you're interested, just email me with some basic info (age, etc), a link to a social media of yours, and anything else you might want to include.
I've also had trouble getting emails sent out to everyone, so if you think you haven't gotten anything (this was sent as an email too!), or you have an email that would work better for you, let me know. Confirmations were meant to be sent automatically when you signed up, but the extension used to do so didn't work, so I'm also including some basic info here just in case!
If you're planning to join the discord server, send an intro for yourself in the intro channel, and you will get access to the rest of the server. This helps keep things organized.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them wherever you can find us!
Hi! I just wanted to ask if we're able to write AUs? Or just within the canon universe? Thanks!
You can write anything you want, whether it be canon divergence, or even something like characters swapping roles! The only requirement on what you write is that it's somehow related to Blackwatch, either via characters that were in it in canon, or through being involved with the group somehow. Thank you!
Hello! I'm really interested in participating, but I have a concern about R-18 material; I saw on your main tumblr you were 17 and also that you were running this alone for now, so does that mean you are the one who is going to check R-18 participations as well? I hope this question doesnt come as rude or anything, and anyway thank you for organizing this event!
Oh, oops! I actually turned 18 not too long ago, and I forgot to change that up. Thank you for asking though! All I will be "checking" as far as any of the fics go are the basic things such as summaries and tags, and that will simply be for claims. Thanks!
It says "For writers, are you open to work more than one artist?" on the sign-up form. Does that mean are we willing to have more than one artist make art for our fic, or does it mean if we're willing to write more than one fic?
The first! If you're open to it, there's a chance you'll end up with more than one artist to work on your fic.
Hello there! I have a question regarding your G-rating ("G-Teen rating for anyone under 18."). The way it's phrased makes me think that I, a person well over 18, could write explicit content if I'd like to. Is that the case? Or did I fail simple reading comprehension? Thank you so much!
Anyone over 18 can write whatever they please, as far as ratings go! The only hitch for explict fics is that you won't be able to partner with anyone under 18.
This event is currently being manned by the (very) tiny @insight-ful. But, if anyone is interested in helping out, they can certainly ask about doing so!
Since artists can be paired up with up to two writers, can artists with partners set sign with two different partners?
If you plan to sign up with two people as pre-determined partners, go ahead! Just make sure their usernames/emails are separate when you submit your sign up sheet!
Welcome to the Blackwatch Big Bang! This is the first of a (fingers crossed) annual event. Below, you can find all the information you need on the event, what it is, and how you can get involved. The ask box is open if you have any further questions!
NOTE: We are aware that we are scheduled to start sign ups on the same day as the @mcbigbang reverse bang! Due to the Uprising event and its contents, we feel that it’s the best time for us. So please, if you’re more interested in McHanzo, or are simply more into the idea of the reverse bang, check them out! But do feel free to sign up for both events if you think that you have the time!
What’s a Big Bang?
A bang is an event in which artists and writers collaborate with each other to create amazing works for some general theme for a scheduled amount of time (usually a few months at least).
What’s this Bang about?
The Blackwatch BB is open to characters and events that are related to Blackwatch, but that doesn’t barr you from doing your favorite ship! From Genji to Roadhog, anything inside of the universe of the Overwatch is welcome, all we ask is that at least one of the main characters is involved one in Blackwatch, or it’s an AU in which other characters are in it themselves (or something similar). As well as being open to all characters, you are also able to create works for any form of AU you can think of, so the possibilities are endless.
How do I participate?
To join, you just have to sign up here, and then wait for a confirmation. We also have a Discord server here that you can join, but is by no means required!
Find more information under the cut!
What do I have to create?
Your creations do have some minimums that you must meet to be a part of the event, all of which are listed below. There are actually two options for writers! It doesn’t require any extra details given on your part until submissions begin, but you can write a work below or above 20k words. If it’s below, your artist partner will only be required to make one artwork, and if it’s above they’ll need two!
[ Writers ]
- 10,000 words minimum
- Has to be able to be understood as a standalone fic. Though sequels, prequels, and anything in between can be created for your fic, what you make for the Bang must be comprehensible without having to have read any extra parts.
- Posted to whatever site(s) you prefer, though we prefer AO3.
- G-Teen rating for anyone under 18. (for sexual content, specifically. Violence is allowed)
- Be able to provide a summary of your work when claims open, as well as a small excerpt of what you’ve written so far.
[ Artists ]
- Pairing with under 20k:1 artwork minimum per pairing
- Pairing with over 20k: 2 artworks minimum per pairing
- Claim up to 2 writers to pair with
- Digitally made, or a fairly high quality scan/photo or a traditional work.
May be paintings, lineart, comics, large/multiple small pixel art(s), animations of at least 1 minute, clay sculptures, etc.

FAQ
How will claims work?
When you sign up, you will have the option to state what kind of works you would like to be partnered with if you are a writer. Plain art will always be a default, but if you say that you would be fine with partnering with musicians or anything else, they will also be able to claim your work when it comes time for claims, and they will be partnered with you along with your artist.
Claims will start out with writers, who will submit summaries of their work, and from there the artists will get to see the summaries and give which they would most like to claim- after artist claims are over, all others will be able to see what’s available for their specific type and choose from those.
Can I sign up for more than one thing?
Yes! Just keep in mind that you will have to work with multiple people, and create multiple works. Don’t sign up for more than what you can handle!
Can I write more than one story?
You can! However, you will end up submitting two works for claims, and have seperate partners for both, unless this is worked out prior to claims. Again, don’t sign up for more than you can handle.
What if I already have a partner?
You can still sign up! You will just state your partners name when you sign up, and they will do the same for you.
What is a pinch hitter?
A pinch hitter is someone that is willing to step in last minute and take the place of someone else if it is needed.
When does my work have to be finished?
Posting is currently scheduled for around October 2018, but it is subject to change. Your work won’t have to be finished until posting.
Can I drop out if needed?
Yes, you can drop out of the event anytime. Just make sure to let us know before you do, we promise not to make you feel bad for it! If you aren’t sure if you’ll need to drop out, try to give it a few days before making a final decision if you can. There’s no coming back after you drop out.
Can my fic be a story I’ve already started?
As long as none of the fic has been posted anywhere, it can be.
If you have any more questions, feel free to send them to the ask box or on our Discord!
