Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!

I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly

Honestly very true.

Something that I always like to emphasis is that scientific credibility doesn't just restrict but also empowers. Your own imagination is limited by the things you know and the visual library your memory holds. The more you know the more creative you can be.

On top of that having restriction makes often for interesting challenges, a raptor looking like the JP ones doesn't really work, herrerasaurs however... or think about how you can use feathers not just to influence the color but also the shape and "feel" of an animal, want it to be spiky and dangerous? Floofy? Elegant? Deep time through the lens of paleoart can offer all of that and more.

Nature is more beautiful, more complicated and more surprising than what popular culture offers in this JP. The worst thing is same people still think of extinct animals as primitive giant beasts. Not to mention people who don’t accept the existence of emotions, feelings and internal experiences in animals. Simplify these animals and others into some cruel hierarchy. To mindless killing machines.

Look in the mirror and think about which species is the real monster.
