“So it was my father.” Her eyes searched the man before her for answers yet he had already provided far more than she could ever have imagined. Yet not in all her years did she ever think her own father to be capable of betrayal.
She played out the scene over and over again in her mind as she watched the subtle shift in the stream down below. Her rocked perch provided her a lovely view of both the bridge and greenery that was all around. Even now with the blessing of Elion in view it was hard to push back the anger she felt inside.
How could it be that the man who had raised her, the man she thought she knew, how? No matter how many times had she thought this through and come to the same answer every time? He was not her father, that man was lost to her long ago.
There was nothing left of him, instead, he had become the dog that needed to be put down. It was time to contact her sister.
