I’m never drinking again.
allisonsala:
Allison groans, nodding in agreement as she internally curses herself for deciding that drinking almost half a bottle of whiskey alone in her car had been a good idea the night before. “Fuck, I know,” she says, rubbing a hand over her face. “Like, honestly? It’s gonna be a miracle if I make it through this conversation without running off to puke in a bush somewhere. Again.”
Letting out a somewhat bitter chuckle, his hand goes to his pockets, producing a pack of menthols. Pulling one from the pack with his teeth, he lights it before offering her one, speaking around the smoke now pouring from his mouth. “There’s an empty McDonalds bag in the back seat of my car if you feel the need to hurl,” he offers, gesturing to the car behind him, that he’s currently leaned up against. “Lucky for me, I don’t get sick. I just experience migraines from hell and a self-esteem to match. Blaze, by the way.”
thelittle-abernathy:
“A German Shepard.” Milo said before bringing his fingers to his lips and whistling. A dark brown head popped up from the bed of the truck. The large dog quickly scrambled from his spot in the sun to the heels of his master. “Blaze, meet Boris. Boris, meet Blaze.”
Blaze’s eyebrows shot up, impressed by the well behaved manners of Milo’s dog. Crouching down, Blaze grinned at Boris, feeling that inexplicable feeling of joy he often gets when encountering a dog. “Well aren’t you fucking beautiful,” he comments, holding his hand out for Boris to sniff before he gives him a scratch behind the ear. “How old is he? Great training job, man.”
I’m never drinking again.
ourladyoftheslabs:
“Totally dude, but to be honest, home is home and if yours happens to export good stuff you might as well own it, you know? Take a puff off home or something.”
“Awesome! Catch you later, then. With the brownies.”
A full twenty minutes later, Blaze finds himself somewhat reclined on the hood of his car, comic book spread out before him. It’s an Archie one - nothing superhero or anything - that he had bought for a buck at a dollar store a week or so before rolling into Slab City. With a cigarette between his lips and a refilled McDonalds cup at his side, he looks pretty damn relaxed. He is, however, nursing an intense hangover which he is attempting to alleviate by wearing sunglasses but hopefully soon he could help the process along and ingest some excellent dope. Mid-chuckle, he looks up as he takes a sip from his drink and spots Suza, a few feet away from his car.
“Howdy!” He sits up a bit, shutting the book as he takes another drag.
I’m never drinking again.
allisonsala:
She snorts. “Well, looks like today is your lucky day– because I am so fucking hungover that I think it’s verging on alcohol poisoning at this point.”
Glancing over, Blaze manages a slight smile, despite the seemingly permanent grimace set on his face. “Shit, I feel you. Can someone tell the sun to tone things down a bit? Every time I move my eyes I feel like my head’s being split in half.”
itsnotindiana:
We got lucky when we were on the road because we had the kids who were still shittin’ in diapers, so we had wipes all the time so for a few years, our asses weren’t raw. Every gas station we stopped at, we stole rolls of toilet paper so we were never out. Even if that shit is hard like newspaper.
Pretty small perk for equally small, terrible packages of kid, but hey, at least you had clean cracks. I remember I went hiking one year with a buddy from school and neither of us remembered to bring toilet paper. Got lost for a whole two days and right before we found our way back, dude accidentally wiped with some poison ivy.
thelittle-abernathy:
“Yea, we can head out now. And uh, my truck is right over we can just take that. I’ve gotta get some dog food while we’re in that area anyway.”
“Oh, rad, works for me. Shoot, what kind of dog you have?”
I’m never drinking again.
ourladyoftheslabs:
“Not that often, gotta admit. Arctic Sun is my jam though. You Canadian then?”
“Sure thing, man! I have it both as a tape and as a CD. I was organised for a weekend or so. Don’t know if the CD version is still playable but I guess we’ll find out. Or we can jam to your jams or something.”
“BC bred, just the way I like my green. For the most part - I’m not overly picky. Good shit is good shit, you know? Oh, yeah that stuffs bomb.”
“Excellent! I’ll cross my fingers to the CD gods but either way, we won’t run out of stuff to rock out to. My address is currently the 1970 Porsche parked near East Jesus. See you there, dude.”
I’m never drinking again.
ourladyoftheslabs:
“Are you a doctor? That’s my kind of science you got there bro. There’s nothing californian green can’t fix.
Oh, you don’t have to give me anything, I don’t really sell. Not to slabbers at least. The perks of having like three profitable hobbies, am I right?
“Definitely not a doctor. Just a dude who smokes a lot, a lot of the time. That’s so true. You ever had BC bud, though? Best shit Canada has to offer.”
“Very right. Okay then, tell you what, if you don’t mind hanging out in a car and if your Joss Stone tape is playable through CD or aux cord, my place is open for this hangover cure. Cool?”
I’m never drinking again.
ourladyoftheslabs:
“If it’s a bowl you need I’m your girl. Homegrown. But maybe you should go for brownies or something. Fill your stomach and stuff. Shall I fetch you something? Something extra I mean. I’m gonna bring my Joss Stone mixtape one way or another, it’s what people jam to when they’re hangover next to me.
“Homegrown? You’ve peaked my interest. Honestly, I would kill for an edible. So much more of a body stoned, you know. Might kill this headache I got going too. When, where and how much you want, oh sweet angel of bud?”
I’m never drinking again.
ourladyoftheslabs:
“Famous last words, am I right? Joss Stone, man. She is my number one cure for hangovers, she and Paco’s tacos.”
“Definitely feels like they could be my last words with this headache. A taco and a bowl would might do the trick, actually. So far I’ve just been nursing my stomach with coffee.”
I’m never drinking again.
Not by myself, anyway. I need someone to be hungover with. God damn.
thelittle-abernathy:
Milo weighed his options, looking from Blaze’s hand then back up to his eyes. “Alright. Sounds good to me.” He agreed giving the man a firm handshake.
Tossing Milo a grin, he nodded a bit, pleased with the transaction. “Great. You wanna go now? I’m parked like, five minutes that way.” He turned a bit, pointing in the direction behind him. “You’ll have to show me the way once we get going.”
breakingthelawson:
That cheap little studio apartment not too far from East Jesus. Just follow the pink spraypaint.
After a quick trip back to his car to grab the essentials, Blaze tracked back, following the pink spray paint as per the instructions. Once there, he knocked on the door three times, carefully holding the small case under his free arm.
