A bouquet of elegant roses laid nested within Ara’s arms, it’s mesmerizing aroma latching itself onto her robe. She stood in the midst of a grassy field, the wind ruffling her ebony hair. But Ara’s expression didn’t quite match the scene.

Flustered, red, and sweaty, her mind was an awful train wreck.

It was when familiar footsteps sounded on the gravel path behind her when everything ceased of movement. Ara slowly turned around, sheepishly smiling at the newcomer before offering them the bundle of flowers.

“I-I thought… Ah… It would’ve been nice.. to… er….”

Biting her lip, Ara tried again.

“The flowers were on sale today so…!!”

The slightly-shorter girl walked towards Ara. Her signature fiery red hair, tied up partially with a single ribbon, danced in the delicate wind. As she liberated Ara of the bouquet of roses their fragrance cradled her. Elesis lifted her red eyes off of the flowers and glanced at Ara, revealing a smirk on her face. “Did I set your heart ablaze, Ara? Or did you fall for me?” Elesis snickered. “I have some bandages if you need them. And if you want, maybe I could help with those bandages.”

“E-Elesis! Don’t be silly….”

Ara scratched the back of her head, looking away so she couldn’t meet the red head’s eyes. The bundle of roses were still in her hands. The wrapping began to feel like glass, threatening to slip away from Ara’s sweaty grip.

Would she accept them?

Ara’s heart started to pound as she anxiously waited for an answer. The excitement that occupied Ara not long ago had evaporated almost completely, replaced with a mix of doubt and regret.

“T-think of it as an act of friendship!! I guess…”

Elesis got ahold of the roses the moment they began to slip out of Ara’s hands. As she did so, their hands brushed each other. “Are you sure you meant it as an act of friendship?” Elesis inquired and got closer to Ara in an attempt to tease her a little more. The knight plucked a single rose from the large bouquet and set it in the other girl’s alluring ebony-colored hair.
