Streaming to Donate to Black Lives Matter Organisations

Hi all. Generally speaking with this being a specific type of fandom blog I want to keep it as an escape for people, I know I certainly do the same thing with other similar blogs. However I have hundreds of followers on here so I really want to use that to bring as much attention as possible to this way of donating I came across last night.

You can now stream a youtube video to donate to Black Lives Matter organisations. I know with everything going on with COVID-19 it is very hard to have spare cash right now, and not everyone can attend protests, but this is a very easy way to be able to do something.

A person called Zoe Amira (Youtube here, twitter here, she’s providing regular updates on twitter and the community tab on youtube) has uploaded a video filled with ads to generate money that will go towards one or more of the following organisations (she states in the video that the distribution will depend on need at the time of donation) to :

You can find the video here. Some tips for streaming the video to make sure every view counts (I’ve heard if the view doesn’t count, it doesn’t contribute towards the ad revenue, but I’m not sure) & for maximum ad revenue:

Don’t skip the ads, let them play in full.

Let the video play in full.

Make sure that youtube’s volume is above 50%. Your computer’s volume can be zero, you don’t need it to actually play out loud.

Make sure that the video is in 480p at least.

Don’t keep the video on repeat, youtube will assume you’re a bot and remove the views, play 3-5 videos before searching for this video again.

Also please do comment and like the video, as this helps push it up in youtube’s algorithm, it should make it easier for people to find.

I’ve heard of more than 1 video popping up doing this, but this is the only one I’ve seen a lot of information for, and it’s reassuring that the creator is doing updates regularly. If I see more that look trustworthy I’ll add them.

Of course, there are other ways to help as well, such as donating directly or signing petitions, twitter user dehyedration has put together a lot of information and resources and links in this carrd which I have found very helpful, please do check that out as well.

Soi Fon (aka: SoyBean the Salt Queen) for ask game #1? Sorry if its kinda rude to ask for more than one character.

Soybean the Salt Queen is hilarious :’) And no no by all means send more than one doing these is fun :)

My favourite thing about them: I like that she’s pretty no-nonsense, some of the captains don’t necessarily always take things seriously but she always does and she always carries out orders to the best of her ability. She’s smart and observant as well, things don’t often get past her. I’ll always remember that moment in her fight with Baraggan when her hand was starting to degrade and she just immediately ordered Omaeda to cut her arm off, it was awesome to see how quickly and intelligently she reacted.

Least favourite thing about them: While I like that she’s serious, especially with her being a captain and all, I hate that she never seems to really question things for herself. She has a set idea of how things should be, and just always automatically follows orders, it doesn’t seem to even occur to her to question whether the orders are morally correct, or even reasonable. Her world seems to be totally black and white with no room for nuance, which I think isn’t really a good trait for a captain to have to be honest. I mean she never once questioned Cental 46′s orders for Rukia’s execution even though multiple other officers rightfully did, if others didn't’ fight against it she never would’ve known that Aizen was pulling the strings the entire time.

Random headcanon: I bet she’s thought about getting a pet cat before. Naturally the idea was initially sparked because of Yoruichi, but she does actually think a cat would be a great pet for her. She’s heard that having a pet can reduce stress, they’re not particularly noisy, and cats don’t necessarily need as much attention as other pets, which suits her quite well. However I think she’d end up worrying that it would look a bit much, which to be fair, people would assume it was entirely because of Yoruichi, so she decided not to get one in the end.

Who I wished they interacted more with: Rangiku! I know they interacted a fair amount in group settings but I think it would’ve been interesting to see the two of them interact one on one. I feel like Soi Fon needs to be get better at chilling out, and Rangiku is very good at getting people to join her in having fun so I think it would be a fun thing to see.

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: I would’ve liked to see more of what she’s like when she’s not working and outside of her obsession with Yoruichi. There’s clearly more to her, I mean the difference between her at work and her otherwise, for example at the shinigami women’s association where she actually joins in with the shenanigans, is pretty stark. She’s clearly got more of a personality than just being a captain and a woman with an obsession but the scenes outside of work always end up going back to Yoruichi anyway, which I think is a shame.

For the first ask game: Ukitake, please?

My favourite thing about them: This is more on the personal side but I love that he’s a successful chronically ill character. I became chronically ill when I was 14 and it was super hard, suddenly I started really struggling with grades, couldn’t really even socialise because I didn’t have the energy, then struggled with mental illness as a result etc. Having a character who has chronic health issues but is also a well loved and capable captain was honestly just very helpful to have. Especially as he’s never chastised for being ill or anything like that, no one judges him for resting when he needs to rest and he’s super respected by soul society in general. Plus despite having difficult health issues he’s still absolutely lovely, he’s not bitter and doesn’t get hung up over it, he just more or less takes it into his stride and is generally optimistic. It made him a very good role model for me! 

My least favourite thing about them: Honestly the first thing that came to mind was that he died lmao I refuse to accept it he’s still alive in my heart! On a more serious note though this may be a cultural difference thing or something but it’s baffling to me that the man basically just let Kaien throw his life away to the hollow that killed his wife. I understand that he said Kaien was fighting for honour, but personally I don’t really think that it’s worth someone’s life.

Random headcanon: I’m almost certain I’m not the first person who’s said this but with him being as lovely as he is, and him living as long as he has there’s no way he hasn’t been married (possibly with children and everything) in the past. Possibly more than once too. But I imagine with him living as long as he has (which I personally assume is to do with reiatsu, more reiatsu = living longer/aging slower) he also unfortunately had to watch them grow old and eventually die. I reckon he married at least once, maybe twice, but not more than that because he realised he wouldn’t be able to go through that process repeatedly.

Who I wished they interacted more with: Children in general like my dude clearly loved them. In particular I think it would’ve been adorable and hilarious if he had met the Kurosaki twins (like if they had actually used those travel ticket thingamajigs Kyoraku gave them or something?) You just know he’d straight up spoil them :’)

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: I would’ve liked seeing him in the human world! I imagine he’d be interested in experiencing it first hand, especially as it changes so quickly these days, so it would be a completely different experience for him which would’ve been fun to see.

Yoruichi for the 1st ask game please senpai!

My favourite thing about them: She’s straight up a super entertaining character. Whenever she’s in the scene you know you’re either gonna get amazing dialogue, or a really cool fight, or maybe even both. I just love her personality in general. She’s calm, badass and hilarious, it’s hard not to love her :’)

My least favourite thing about them: I kinda wish she would involve herself more. Yoruichi is clearly insanely strong, but so often it felt like she was on the sidelines watching rather than being front and centre and kicking ass even though she would be more than capable.

Random headcanon: She finds loose fitting clothes really annoying to wear. With her almost exclusively using hand to hand combat she finds looser clothes tend to be distracting and get in the way, not to mention loose bits of fabric make it easier for her opponent to grab her. She also hates restrictive clothes, even in the human world she’s very unlikely to wear jeans or anything like that. Generally speaking she’ll only wear clothing that is form fitting, breathable, and stretchy.

Who I wished they interacted more with: I would’ve liked to see more interaction with Kukaku! They obviously knew each other pretty well and were both cool characters, I think it’s a huge shame we didn’t get more scenes with the two of them. 

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: Just more backstory details mainly. I don’t think it was ever explained how or why she could transform into a cat at will, which would’ve been nice to know. What her zanpakto actually was would’ve been super cool to find out, and it would be interesting to see why she never used it. Like was it just because she strongly preferred hand to hand combat? Or was her zanpakto pretty destructive and an absolute last resort sort of thing? I would’ve loved to know more.

Ikkaku Madarame

My favourite thing about them: He’s actually a pretty complex character, he loves fighting and is good at it, but that’s definitely not all he is. You see signs throughout the series that he’s also quite patient, he’s smarter than people perhaps think he is, and while I think its easy to mistake him as bloodthirsty due to the love of fighting, he really isn’t. Ikkaku was clearly up for fighting Ichigo but once Ichigo has beaten him (and then sealed Ikkaku’s wounds) Ikkaku was all ‘well yeah fair enough you beat me, I’ll tell you what you want to know, watch out for my captain though he’s way stronger just fyi’. It would’ve been very easy to make him a one-dimensional character but he’s got a lot of depth.

My least favourite thing about them: I know he lives to fight and all, but leaving it to the last second to release stronger attacks to make the fight last longer is definitely not the smartest move. Sometimes you gotta deal with the enemy quickly and efficiently as possible for the good of people around you but he’s very unlikely to do so.

Random headcanon: I’ve seen other people headcanon that Yumichika applies Ikkaku’s eye makeup for him which is a lovely headcanon and I really like it! However I raise you that Ikkaku is in fact better at makeup than Yumichika which is something that pisses Yumichika off daily.

Who I wished they interacted more with: Orihime! I thought it was great that Orihime has basically just ended up tagging along with squad 11 for a bit in the soul society arc, it would’ve been amazing to see more interaction for it. Especially as I don’t think Ikkaku entirely knows how to talk to a teenager, let alone one that isn’t interested in fighting. I would’ve LOVED to see Ikkaku be like ‘this kid doesn’t fight at all someone should teach her’ and Orihime just unleashes her black belt skills and accidentally becomes an honorary member of squad 11 for life.

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: I would’ve liked to have seen him training others! He’s a third seat so I imagine from that he’s quite practised at it, not to mention Renji specifically asked Ikkaku to train him, so I imagine he must be good at it. I personally feel he’d be quite a patient and analytical teacher, he can pick up on what you’re doing wrong very quickly and will go over techniques such as footwork over and over again until he knows that you’ve got it down. But unfortunately I don’t know how accurate that is as we never got to see it!

Noooo you’re not bothering me (although evidently once I get started I cannot shut up lmao). Ikkaku is coming up in the next post! For the second ask game MAN I would fuck or marry any of them in a heartbeat so this is a super tough one :’D

Fuck: Renji, he just edges out the other two because I feel like he’d be the most fun for a one night deal sort of thing

Marry: Ichigo, I’ve lowkey had a crush on this dude since I was 11 I’ve gotta take the opportunity (also you can’t tell me Ichigo wouldn’t be an amazing husband)

Kisuke for Ask Game 1 please

My favourite thing about them: I may have issues with his methods, but Kisuke recognises when something is a problem and will do his best to sort the issue. When shit hits the fan he is very much a ‘the end justify the means’ kinda guy, I don’t necessarily agree with it, but it makes him a very interesting character and I appreciate that SOMEONE is doing something in this world where anything but 1v1 fights seem to be considered dishonourable (like, I can understand the thought process but who cares about that if the world is about to end you know?)

My least favourite thing about them: He pretty much never asks for consent in his plans. Like if he had actually sat down with Rukia and explained that he wanted to hide the hogyoku inside her because he couldn’t let Aizen get it, and that she would actually be pretty safe if everything worked out because he has a gigai that can make her human and therefore pretty much undetectable, you don’t think she would’ve at least considered it? But he totally takes her out of the decision making process and just straight up does it without her knowing. I understand that he needed to do something, and it actually is a good plan to be fair, but he never asks before doing which is not great, and he does this multiple times.

Random headcanon: Kisuke 100% has a storage cupboard that is filled with at least 20 of those hats at any one time. He always wants to make sure he’s got spares, and in his line of work, he gets through them much quicker than he’d like.

Who I wished they interacted more with: Arrancars in general! Given he did create the hogyoku to try and mess around with the whole shinigami/hollow combination (if i remember correctly anyway), I don’t think he would treat arrancars any different to how he would shinigami because he knows damn well they aren’t actually that different. Intentions are way more important than origin to him, which I think would’ve made some interesting interactions because I imagine most hollow based creatures/people just assume shinigami hate them.

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: How in the fuck did he get Grimmjow into an alliance with him? Was it a calm but serious conversation about how the quincies are about to destroy everything so might as well team up to take them down? Did Kisuke mislead him? Did he just promise Grimmjow a rematch with Ichigo? It could be any of these and I would’ve loved to see any of those options!

Ask game 2: Matsumoto, Izuru, Hisagi 👀 Btw thanks for the game idea it's 3AM and I'm bored as hell

Oh I’m right there with you hopefully you can get some enjoyment out of this :’) My bisexual ass was having a crisis over who to marry but:

Fuck: Matsumoto. I have complete confidence that she would make it the best night ever

Marry: Hisagi, he’s a shy sweetheart underneath which I love and I generally think he would make a good husband

Kill: Izuru, unfortunately! He is also a sweetheart but I simply cannot pass on Matsumoto or Hisagi :’D

ask game! First one: Shinji Hirako??

My favourite thing about them: I honestly love how like confident and smug he is, especially as it’s totally warranted. My dude really is just that good and absolutely knows what he’s doing. That one scene where he tore through Aizen’s camouflage like it was nothing? I died 

My least favourite thing about them: Considering how he genuinely seems to be good at what he does, and that he knew Aizen was up to stuff WAY before everyone else, it kinda bugs me that he didn’t seem to be more urgent about it? Like I get keeping an eye on someone you’re unsure of, especially as for all you know it’s nothing, but to not tell anybody that you think a vice captain is planning bad things? That’s exactly how you get ambushed with nobody knowing who did it my dude

Random headcanon: I have a headcanon that he got the tongue piercing on a whim. When tongue piercings started appearing he thought they were bizarre but looked kinda cool (and of course quickly figured out they could be potentially advantageous in the bedroom) so he figured fuck it and just went for it.

Who I wished they interacted more with: I actually think him interacting with Rukia could be hilarious, he’s deliberately daft and over the top, she is very much not, but they’re both smart and could make an interesting team. Byakuya is another one thinking about, Shinji was around 100 years ago which means he may have come across teenage Byakuya, teasing him as an adult would also be fun to watch.

Something I would’ve liked to see of them: Further back story would’ve been cool! As far as I remember we don’t find out how he came about being a Captain, why he became distrustful of Aizen, etc. Shinji is a super interesting character, it would’ve been awesome to see like where he came from and why he is the way he is.

Ask Game 2

An absolute classic that might be overdone but I don’t care, I’ve never done it before :P Fuck, Marry, Kill! Send in 3 bleach characters and I’ll assign each one to a different fate. If you’d like a different set of scenarios that I need to match 3 characters to I will also be happy to accept those :)
