Varus’ lips peel back, teeth baring as he struggles to process what this thing is doing. That wasn’t a sound of fear, no, and his grip around the demon’s throat tightens at the sinking pain in his wrist, so strange - this remade flesh was so weak, even strengthened with blight. 

Luminous eyes narrow at the way Huo’s features shift, and he grunts in disgust, kicking away that overly-affectionate tail with an impatient shake of his leg. “Pathetic. But something is better than nothing. Speak your suggestion now - but rest assured you will die anyway.”

He hums, eyes narrowing slightly as his tail is kicked away before he digs his nails further into the wrist of the hand around his neck. He draws his leg up then kicks forward, foot placing itself right on Varus’ chest and distancing himself from the other.

He falls backwards but before he reaches the ground, his wings unfurl and slow his fall so he manages to place his hands on the ground and flip backwards, landing on his feet, cleanly. He brings one hand to his throat and rubs it idly, licking his lips once more.

“It would be nice for you, wouldn’t it? If things did go according to plan?” he grins darkly, before he’s pressed back against the other, both his hands grabbing Varus’ wrists and his tail slipping around his leg once more, affectionately rubbing up and down it and giving the occasional squeeze.

“You’re really oblivious, hm? Or is it you’ve never done it with another person before?” Huo tilts his head to the side, cat-like golden eyes watching the other curiously as he chuckles under his breath. “I’d think with two...” he pauses again, examining the other two souls inside of Varus for a good moment before he grins, “I’d think with a pair of lovers inside of you, you’d know about it at the very least. Maybe even felt the urge to -- y’know...”

Huo slips his tail up to pat Varus’ thigh, just under his crotch, to finish his sentence for him. He figures actions would be easier to understand for this man.

He freezes, lips pulled back and frozen in a snarl, trying to understand what is happening. He growls outright, the sound far deeper and more vicious than should be able to come from once-human flesh. 

The body against his was warm. He couldn’t comprehend it - and one hand closes around Huo’s throat, unforgiving with a grip like steel.

“We demand to know.”

Huo doesn’t flinch or try to escape the other’s deathly grip around his throat, instead he purrs, loud and clear despite it. Demand? What a thrilling man. The demon’s lips curls, one hand moving to grasp the other male’s wrist and sink sharp claws into it.

“Oh?” The word is rolled off his tongue expertly, as if he’s been choked many-a-times before and he finally decides to give in. If not to be able to breathe again, it certainly is to be able to move again.

So his demonic features slip into view, tongue swiping over his lips before parting in a grin and showing fangs. Two wings hang idly from his back and horns sprout from his head, as well as a mischievous little tail that wraps itself around the man’s leg.

“I’m a demon of the Shadow Isles, honey, and I don’t think you’ll enjoy eating me quite as much as you think you will.” a pause, then, “I know something else you might enjoy though.”

“Every living creatures means others harm,” he snarls, and this much he knows to be true, and the two souls living within him know it too. “Predator and prey. Puppet and master. It is the natural order of things.”

A shift, then, and he is circling the stranger, wary and slow; he could fire in less than a blink of the eye if needed. “Tell me what you are. I do not care about your past, only your substance. I hunger.”

What an interesting being. The fact alone that he thinks he can eat Huo is enough to turn the smile into a mischievous and rather dark grin. “Hmm...” he pauses, the moment lasting way too long to be comfortable before his grin is gone and replaced with a stoic expression.

“You’ve got it all wrong, sweetheart.” he replies, making sure to examine his fingernails dramatically. “The only eating that’s going to be happening here is by me.” Huo slips closer, both of their bodies pressed together, and leans up to scrutinize the other’s features. Then he’s hopping back a few steps, backwards, a soft chuckle leaving his lips.

“So, no, I won’t be telling you what I am.”

“I don’t care about propriety,” he grits out, and for once they stop their struggle, far more concerned about the creature before them. 

I don’t know, Valmar whispers. He looks human. But he doesn’t talk like one. Kai says nothing, wary, watching; this stranger was undeniably lovely. But it was the sort of lovely that made him nervous, because it was the kind of lovely that made people stupid. 

But they weren’t.

“It is very important,” Varus snarls, ire spiking moment by moment. “We are Varus, and what you are will tell us whether to kill you fast or slow.”

He hums, curious and intrigued by the man -- men... Huo still doesn’t know how to address him -- in front of him, but not enough to give in to their demands. Not yet, perhaps. The demon blinks slowly, leisurely, and gives the other a lazy smile.

“How about neither of those? For you see, I mean you no harm.” A lie, but Huo is an impressive liar, that he could probably even convince himself with his own lies. His smile widens slightly, the tone a little brighter, though even that is only to garner the trust of the man in front of him.

“If you really must know what I am, I can tell you this; I’m an inhabitant of the Shadow Isles, though that hasn’t been my home for quite some time. Does that suffice?”

Violet-tinged lips curl, and Varus whirls, glaring daggers right at the pale yellow eyes watching him. His own gaze narrows, and he bites out, “It is hardly an issue when two are but remnants.”

He struggles, then, forcing the others down to stare at whatever it is that is eyeing him; those aren’t a human’s words, and though ignorant of the changed world around him, he is no fool. “What are you?”

The other’s retort makes him arch his eyebrows, raising up in a silent mockery. Remnants, huh? Huo thinks it’s funny, really, when someone is in a denial so obvious. Regardless, he waves his hand up and down a little, as if waving the question away. His features settle back down and the incubus steps out from the shadows, expression uncaring for the most part.

“I don’t think that’s an appropriate question to ask someone you just met, hm?” he purrs, the words rolling off his tongue almost too easily as he approaches the stranger, wide hips swaying with every step. “But since I suppose I am the one at fault for starting us off on the wrong foot, I’ll let it slide.” Huo gives the other a charming smile, leaning forward and moving his face closer to the other man’s.

“I would start with saying that I’m a human but I think you know better.” he states, straightening up then tapping his lower lip idly, in thought. “What I am really isn’t that important. My name, though, is Huo, if that’s satisfactory for you.”
