So something I find so very fascinating about Celestia Ludenberg is how she's always, ALWAYS fucking lying. Her goddamn wiki page has a notice on it that basically everything we know about her is unverifiable because almost all of it is coming from her and she's CONSTANTLY fucking lying!! The only things we know for absolute sure are that her real name is Taeko Yasuhiro, that she has a pet cat, that she's from the city of Utsunomiya in the Kanto region of Japan, and that she likes eating gyoza. Other than that, she's lying for almost her entire screentime. It paints a picture of a girl who hates herself so very deeply that she can't help but pretend to be someone else. She wants so desperately to be someone special. She calls her real self a boring loser. She doesn't even seem to think her talent is anything noteworthy, basically writing it off as just being very lucky, which is an interesting parallel to Makoto, given he is "The Ultimate Lucky Student" and similarly doesn't consider that to be a real talent. Even when she's about to be executed and she says she doesn't feel remorse for her actions or fear of death, it's strongly implied that she's lying, and that she's just trying to make it easier for her friends to write her off as a heartless villain, so they don't have to mourn her as much. She's a very, very compelling character to me. It's a shame it takes a few levels of reading comprehension and some investment into her free time events to really understand her, which basically guarantees that most players never will.
