It's come to my attention that some folk don't know you can get the owlbear cub to stay permanently at your camp, and are missing out on some adorable interactions
Here's how I got him in early access, but be warned that it may be slightly different in the full release version
(I highly recommend picking up the Speak With Animals spell for either yourself or Wyll - you'll miss out on some really cute conversions with the cub if you don't have a way to cast it on yourself)
* to kick this off, you need to encounter the mother owlbear. She's in the cave between Druids Grove and the Blighted Village
* to get out of this interaction peacefully: either talk your way out of fighting the mamma owlbear (Speak With Animals) pass an Animal Handling check, or pass an Intimidation check
* if your rolls fail and combat starts, it's fine: just completely ignore the cub when you're fighting her, so that it survives
*(spoiler: mamma owlbear is gonna die even if you manage to get out of the interaction peacefully)
* the cub will be in a cage when you arrive at the goblin camp, next to Krolla (the chicken chase game) if the cub isn't there, take a Long Rest and they should show up.
* Free the cub and interact with it. If you have a way to speak with it, offer to let it come with you
* After a few long rests (it took 2 for me) it'll show up injured at camp. Either bandage it up (low DC Medicine roll) or tell him that it's just a little scratch and he'll be fine (low DC Persuasion roll)
* you now have an adorable little owlbear at camp! He'll start bringing you dead animals to say thank you (free food)
* If Scratch the dog is also at camp, the two will eventually cuddle up together and it's absolutely adorable. (The owlbear is having nightmares and Scratch is trying to comfort him)
* yes, you can absolutely pet the owlbear. And the dog. You can also give them a ball to play with, and they'll play fetch with you
