Women in STEM (Sleepiness, Time for bed, Extremely comfy sheets, Mattresses)
This is amazing!! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
I feel like we need some clarification
This is a Kimono (Japanese):
This is a Hanfu (Chinese):
This is a Cheongsam (Chinese):
This is a Hanbok (Korean):
Any questions?Â
ao dai (vietnamese)
THIS POST IS IMPORTANT.
Itâs interesting to note that that the garments that have a cross over style when worn correctly are all worn with the left breast over the right.
That is because these countries tend to wrap right over left when they are wrapping the dead.
Here are what some menâs fashion looks like if anyone is interested.
Kimono:

Cheongsam:

Ao Dai:
as a welsh person i want you all to accept that W is a vowel because honestly it makes pronouncing acronyms so much easier. wlw becomes âoolooâ, wjec becomes âoojeckâ, love yourselves and stop giving us shit when we tell you welsh has 7 vowels. english actually has 15 vowel sounds but because yâall only use 5 letters you have to rely on a spelling system devised by satan
and please, enough with the âkeyboard smashingâ jokes. not original, not funny.
â #okay but can any of y'all even pronounce your own town names tho? #byeâ
yeah, we can actually because the spelling is phonetic. meanwhile english folks have placenames like bicester or keighley or beaulieu, which you have to learn the pronunciation for individually because the rules are so inconsistent. i mean people canât even agree how to pronounce marylebone but sure welsh place names are the weird ones
â#But are you aware your language literally looks like a potato rolled across a keyboardâ
fun fact: for decades children were beaten for speaking welsh in school, even in areas where english was barely spoken, because the government decided in 1847 that the language made people lazy and immoral
fun fact: welsh orthography is actually easy to read if you take your head out of your arse for one minute and learn our alphabet - just like french, or spanish, or korean, because surprise! languages use different spelling systems that are not based on english. novel, i know - and in the 18th century, travelling schools were able to teach people to read and write welsh in a matter of months, so that wales enjoyed a literate majority, a rare thing in europe at the time
fun fact: the english have been taking the piss out of welsh for years, just like theyâve been doing for irish, and scots gaelic, and cornish, and british sign language, and a hundred and one other languages, because evidently the fact that the whole world isnât anglophone and monocultured and Still Part Of The Empire is a problem, and something that needs to be corrected
(quietly cheers in support of the Welsh, and your language sounds beautiful, too)
drag them, wales!
Go Wales
the thing people need to get through their heads is what the original statement is:
W is a vowel, and LL and FF are single letters not two Ls or two Fs. Saying LL is two letters is as dumb as saying W is two letters just because it looks like two Vs.
We have a different alphabet, it just looks a lot like the english one.
Welsh is, in addition, one of the oldest surviving indo-European languages. It dates back as far as 4,000 years and is one of the few surviving Celtic languages.Â
HELL YES WELSH.
In English, y is sometimes a vowel and sometimes not. This makes far less sense than âw is a vowel,â because the letter belongs to one thing.
In Spanish, l is a consonant and ll is a different consonant and a single letter. This is exactly the same as Welsh using ll as a single letter.
The fact these are seen as strange even though thereâs very, very simple parallels everyone who speaks two of the most common languages in the world, with a very very high overlap between casual phrase usages, is entirely propaganda meant to destroy peopleâs interests in relearning their culture as itâs being systematically repressed and destroyed. And itâs working. Because we canât be bothered to think, âw is a vowel, just like y except itâs alwaysâ.
Making fun of something for being hard to learn when you havenât even tried to learn it and thus have no idea how hard or easy it is to learn, is the pinnacle of laziness as assholery.
Make fun of English instead; most everybody knows it and the mockery is much more deserved.
I was going to add this in the tags, but actually I wonât.
The violent suppression of Welsh in schools lasted until about the 70s, by which time it had done so much cultural damage that weâre still unpicking it literally here on tumblr dot com in 2019. If youâve ever laughed at Welsh for how it looks or sounds, or whether or not its native speakers can actually speak it, youâre literally participating in that damage splash zone.Â
The specific method for suppressing Welsh in schools was a wooden sign called a âWelsh Notâ, used in the 18th - 20th centuries, until about the 1940s. If a child was heard speaking Welsh (or reported to a teacher for speaking Welsh by another child) then they would wear this sign around their neck, humiliating them for speaking their native language. This sign would be transferred from them if another child was heard (or reported for) speaking Welsh. At the end of the day, the child wearing the Welsh Not was beaten. This, as you can imagine, fosters an environment of shame and isolation, and destroys any natural solidarity between Welsh children in schools as it literally encourages them to turn on each other to avoid corporal punishment.
(Fun âimperialism is awfulâ fact, this method was so effective that Japan adopted it (in the form of a âdialect cardâ) in order to violently suppress the Ryukyuan languages, which has left most of them critically endangered.)
IT IS NOVEMBER FIRST WHICH MEANS IT IS CHRISTMAS TIME
Get in the sleigh ladies weâre goin out CAROLING. Rudolph didnât save that one foggy Christmas Eve with his glowy nose so we could sleep on THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY. Catch me at the Thanksgiving dinner table in this exact Santa hat and when my mom suggests politely that maybe itâs too soon to go full Santa I will scream that it is her fault for literally RAISING ME ON A CHRISTMAS TREE FARM.

I wanna be that CEO that pays their employees 70K a year like that white guy I be seeing all over the Internet. I canât remember his name.
Iâm not gonna be like Jeff Bezos but I do wanna be a multimillionaire đđđ
He took a pay cut. Iâm not doing all of that. Ima just pay my people well and give top notch benefits.
It gets better.
We are definitely going to talk about this guy on Buisness Desserts
Employees are not costs to be reduced, they are investments, they are assets that appreciate in value
Absolutely
For the person commenting on not taking a pay cut, he HAD to change his lifestyle to be able to afford to pay his employees a living wage. He talked to accountants and they helped him break the numbers down based on data about the cost of living and various factors about the commute, housing issues, etc. All inspired by his best friend going nearly into debt over medical costs meanwhile he had several houses, a jet, and drank champagne daily.
He sold stock, houses, and changed his spending and as a result, his employees were overall happier and the way they worked improved. They all bought more shit and had more kids and did all the consumption people want for us while also enjoying their work and their boss enough to band together and buy him a fucking Tesla as a thank you.
And you know what he realized after taking his pay cut? He didnât need the champagne or the girls or the âlifestyleâ of being a billionaire. He feels fulfilled in his work and with the people heâs surrounded himself with and he feels that heâs made a step in the right direction that other businessmen and billionaires should follow.
Please read the article and his statements on twitter because itâs eye-opening to see that you CAN be successful doing things ethically.Â
Update: during the pandemic, Dan Price cut his salary to $0 so that he could keep paying his employees.

These were the songs I didnât know I needed until they were released. This album reminded me of why I started listening to Taylorâs music to begin with and why her songs have been the soundtrack of my life. The songwriting and storytelling has always been important to me. Lyrics that make you feel like things is what music has been about for me and how I can connect to both the lyrics and the orchestration. @taylornation

There is a certain power in the fact that she didnât say âfuckâ on the album where she was angry. She waited for an album where she was soft and content and spinning stories instead of reeling from everything that was thrown at her and lashing out. She said something once about never yelling and screaming and not giving people a chance to say youâre crazy. There is so much quiet strength in that.
