My rats have most commonly received doxycycline and baytril! I'm actually picking some up from the vet later today for my little girl Babybelle (who hasn't been posted on this blog, since I don't use it much these days, but picture a cute little skinny PEW. Or picture a wheel of Babybel snack cheese, which is what she is named after.)

There's also a lot of good information about rat medications on ratguide.com and I'd recommend it for anyone interested in learning more about rat illnesses and medications.

My friend has to leave the country for work and her two female ORBS, Elfie and Josie (or ‘Elfelina and Josefina’ if you want to use their full orbic titles), need to be rehomed! They are sweet and playful and very funny! They are approximately one year old.

There is a small rehoming fee to ensure they do not end up as feeders or throwaway pets for a small child or something, but they will come with their cage so they are bargain high quality orbs! Please contact @anzozi with any questions about, or interest in, the ORBS.

these are car-rats I drew as a Ko-fi prompt in 2018. i’m positive I shared them to tumblr already but can’t for the life of me find them. I was reminded of their existence by the amazing ratish (rat radish) art by @grrreenrat that just crossed my dash…upon posting this, there’s even a ratish in this picture that i’d forgotten about?! that’s great. and rats are great.

this rat is terrified…this isn’t cute, they squeak like that to tell you to piss off and they’re frightened, and this person kept poking them and scaring the poor thing further. then the rat screamed, he’s literally terrified, and im sick of people on tiktok freaking their pets out for the tiktok clout.

basically, not a cute video. I’ve only ever heard rats scream like that when they’re seriously frightened or in agony.

reblog this actually im sick of seeing videos of terrified animals on tiktok being spread all over tumblr. this kind of behaviour isn’t normal. this rat isn’t “dramatic”, he’s terrified.

The rat has plenty of room to cringe or move away from the hand, but it doesn’t. It chooses not to. Instead it just sniffs around and moves closer to the hand.

^ It displays neither aggressive nor fearful body language

He probably just doesn’t like baths is all– he probably associates the tub with baths and so is protesting, making it dramatic because we know baths aren’t the end of the world (and I am of course assuming the op bathes correctly and understands that you shouldn’t bathe them unless they get really filthy)

I’m speaking as someone who hasn’t owned rats though. :0c

I see no fear here, some rats are just vocal AF and yes, a little dramatic. My boy Ludwig cries like this when scratching his own armpits. He cries like this when I’m petting him and he’s happy, bruxing, and having the time of his life. He cries like this when his brother is eating too close to him. He cries like this when he just has no idea what else to do. Could this rat be scared? Maybe. But he’s not showing the body language for it.

#rattober 4: UNDERCOVER RAT.

My dumbo rat Edwin, part of the trio of brothers who were my first rats, looked a lot like a teddy bear. 

I mention him merely because this drawing, which only contains teddy bears and nothing else, reminds me of him for some reason.
