"50% of lesbians are abused by their partner" factoid actually just statistical error. Average lesbian does not have that happen to them. Adora, who is abused by her girlfriend 10,000 times a day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.

I will only make one post about this topic for rn because I've got other things to worry about than a cartoon!
If it's lesbophobia to label Catra and Adora as siblings, then what's the point in them sharing a mother figure if they're not supposed to be sisters?
Even if you excuse that Nate wanted to hide a toxic yuri ship into the show, it just comes off as disturbing in multiple ways!
1) The "sexual tension" is animated in a show for little girls, even though the fight scenes could be better off (and more understandable) fitting for folks in their late teens to young adulthood at the earliest.
2) Catra and Adora were the only ones who viewed Shadow Weaver as their mother figure, even compared to every other soldier who apparently didn't for some reason.
3) Catra and Adora have done everything together, whether willingly or by force through guilt tripping/physical abuse, and have fought over the love of their mother figure as if they were siblings.
Even if Catradora really wasn't meant to be incestuous, why did Nate keep them with a sister-like dynamic? As far as I know, romantic partners and soldiers in a war don't fight over the love and attention of their superiors; siblings do that
referring to prev.
Not that I remember catra being canonically whiny. Well, outside of a gaslighting frame.
Or, oh, I'm sorry, just being whiny and unsympathetic to Adora. Specifically. Which is just Convenient, and says nothing at all about the character. Nope. Not at all.
Catra being anxious and having panic attacks over the bad things she did is actually counter productive to any hypothetical scenario where she is self reflecting and/or receiving constructive criticism.
Her potentially having crippling anxiety over being an asshole in the past PREVENTS and/or DELAYS any changes she might potentially make.
Making this character spiral over moral dilemmas does not inherently mean she’s actively working to change her ways. Her being afraid of facing her badness does not make her good; it simply means she has anxieties toward constructive criticism/dialogue.
I intentionally went looking for this art I remember seeing a few years back, just to make sure I didn’t imagine it. And y’all, THIS GUY GETS IT. He just… He gets it. He understands. And his art is good. Fat Glimmer? Sign me up! He also drew the cover for a GlimmAdora fic where Adora leaves Catra after getting sick of her abuse called ‘I Thought I Wanted This”. His art is really good and he’s on tumblr too.
ooo damn that art is so pretty! and i'm glad people are finally beginning to understand the flaws in spop and actually talking about them (outside of tumblr, i mean).
i saw adonnie ship art and someone reblogged with:
"Not pictured: Soon-To-Be-Murderer Catra"
wtf?
Bruh,
All this makes me want to do is make more A/donnie/Cutlass pieces. They're so precious and romantic. Ugh. Does anyone want to shoot some potential drabble prompts my way? They won't count toward my rapscallions--I mean, actual long term project, or anything. Now this will just be out a spite, and for fun LMAOOO
///
Funnily enough, the vibe of this anon message is like, a similar vibe that I had when I was first shipping A/dorpia. Sometimes spite and trolling really does lead to some amazing things.

Pffft what are you guys talking about? Catra and Adora never got together at the end of spop. Catra apologized to Adora and Adora didn't forgive her and Catra decided to go back to the Crimson Wastes. You guys are insane.
Seriously! Some people also think that there was a Season 5… I get that the series being cut to 4 seasons sucked, but honestly, the story was good right where it ended.
here's the thing. i like toxic fictional relationships. i like whump. i like seeing characters hurt each other and get hurt.
but only if the narrative acknowledges that it's fucked up and wrong. the moment this shit is romanticized or glorified, the moment the narrative starts acting like the abuser is actually justified or should be pitied, you lost me. that shit is just repulsive.
like you can show the ramifications of an abusive relationship or show a person getting kidnapped or hurt, and having to deal with its aftereffects. this makes for good emotional drama and character arcs. it's interesting, it's sometimes relatable and if done well, it can send a good message of what not to do or what to be wary of.
even if it doesn't do that, at the very least, it gives us catharsis. even if the characters don't get a happy ending, we can be satisfied knowing that this piece of media is not encouraging toxic or abusive behaviour.
but you can't act like this shit is ideal or cute or romantic. even if fans support or pity the character, that doesn't mean that the creator should hop on the bandwagon and act like all of this is justifiable.
for example, movies like gone girl or midsommar aren't exactly showing good, healthy people in healthy relationships. but it is framed in a way that we know that the writer doesn't condone this kind of behaviour. even if these stories don't have happy endings, the framing makes it clear that this is just a social issues explored in fiction, but not romanticized or encouraged.
if i didn't know that c//a was gonna become canon, i probably would have liked it despite the abuse, because i would have thought that the whole point was to show us an unhealthy relationship with an imbalanced power dynamic. i'm fine with that, i find it quite compelling.
and that's the difference. if you're gonna write an abusive relationship, you should have the balls to admit that it's abusive instead of going all “um well it's a complex situation and technically both of them were at fault and the abuser is actually a poor widdle baby who deserves instant forgiveness”. miss me with that shit.
Is there another link for Konami’s “Catra mistreating Adora for 16 min” video? The link available doesn’t work
Hi! DM me and I will send the video to your email. I will be able to get back to the video recovery project in the next few weeks, and will most likely (hopefully) find a better method of distributing the files to anyone who is interested.
I mostly want this to be public, but without having to upload the videos to a YouTube channel myself.
I'm open to any ideas or questions about this, still!! Needing some help about that..
hey! i’m the anon who sent the ask about the fandom saying that we’re like catra lol. and don’t worry, i have nothing against your response!
honestly i just sent that ask because i found their claim funny, rather than being annoyed by it. i just wanted to laugh about it with someone, that’s all. like you said, i used to get irritated at this people too but nowadays their takes just gets a chuckle out of me. its so obvious they want to paint themselves as the victims and act like we’re the offenders here.
so it’s nice to see that you’re not bothered by them either and yes, i would definitely advise everyone else to not give those fans the attention they’re seeking (reason why i didn’t include a screenshot or link the post). there are enough things to worry about in life already, you don’t need a bunch of strangers on the internet contributing to that. hope y’all have a nice day!
Hey!
Sorry for this late reply! Life has been lifeing.
And thank you for the follow up! Have a nice day!!
if i were to make a glimmadora week, when would be a good time do you think? i'm thinking abt august maybe
OOOOOH,
I think August is perfect! It's that one month that doesn't have much going on except on going summer shenanigans. It would be fun!

Godspeed!!! Wishing you good luck with this, Anon!
saw a post about spop where the person said that “spop haters became the catra they swore to destroy”
… i’m sorry? so i guess disliking or criticizing a show is the same as being a war criminal and an abuser. good to know that the internet brainrot is not going away anytime soon.
Hmmm,
This is... going to be a different kind of response to this kind of ask. Um. To be honest with you? After all this time of running this anti C//A blog. Well. I just don't care about the stans anymore.
I will admit that I did at some points of this hobby/journey (not to be dramatic or anything, you know what I mean). I was young. I still am young. Have I ever told you guys I'm 20 years old? I've figured out I'm asexual (greyace). I've lost a lot of friends. I made a lot more. I used to be vegetarian until I started eating fish again, and then I started to eat chicken. I don't miss red meats. I got my wisdom tooth removed in March.
I have a life. I don't care what the stans are saying about us anymore. I care about you guys and making sure we all get through what we're getting through, talking, creating, sharing art and ideas. I care that when a new SPOP fan (or an older one) figures out that there's a community of people who treat C//A the way that we do, they feel welcomed here. I care that someone discovers things about themselves (sometimes their relationship, sometimes romantically and sometimes with friends, sometimes it was something they dealt with years ago and are only now processing). I care that I'm here to talk with everyone and everyone is here to talk to me. I care about my writing (even though it takes LONG hahahah). I care about being here to represent.
I don't care about what the stans are saying. I'm completely unbothered. And I think you deserve to be, too, Anon. Peaceful and unbothered. You know you're not a "Catra", you don't need me to affirm this to you. None of us are.
. . .
So. With all the love. And this is a Public Service Announcement for everyone who has read this far... These types of rants concerning the standom. Well. This is the kind of response I'll give, nine times out of ten. I’m not saying don’t send them. Do whatever feels right.

P.S.
If we DID become "the Catra's we swore to destroy", we still wouldn't be half as begrudging as Catra herself, I'd bet LMAOOO
thoughts on this?
Hello,
I don’t think much of posts like these anymore, because this is a totally irrelevant claim. It can be true. It can be un-true. Doesn't really matter.
What I mean is, this post essentially claims: “Catra [(might've needed but didn't want)] a hero, she WANTED a genuine relationship with Adora, who wasn’t providing that for her”.
Okay. And? What weight does this idea have in the grander context of their canon relationship?
I can't deny that C//A is a relationship that fundamentally "lacks" on both sides. Well, that's the major conflict of this story for a very, VERY long time. From the very beginning (narrative-wise), Catra is unhappy with Adora. Very first episode.
But, well, the OP adding this "because" in the question "WHY is C//A a relationship that lacks?" is not particularly ground breaking insight.
We can play with this question all we'd like. "C//A is a relationship that lacks because they're too codependent" "C//A is a relationship that lacks because Catra needs help" "C//A is a relationship that lacks because Adora needs help". Does it ever change the fact that C//A... is a ... relationship that lacks. I mean. This is the purpose. That's exactly what it's supposed to be. Fine, then.
So, now we're left with:
"C//A is a relationship that lacks". Yes. Got that. Not new information. That's quite literally the point of C//A’s arc from start to finish.

TLDR;
Respectfully, I couldn't care less about what Catra wanted from Adora. Their relationship still is what it is!

Do you know if it's still possible to find captain-konami-code's youtube videos still or if they are truly gone forever?
Ah… The good old days where we had the Captain making quality content… At the moment I’m not sure where to find these videos. But you know what? I’ll do my homework and figure out if I can salvage anything from Captain’s old channel. I’ll share them here (or link them in a Google Doc).
If anyone has any information or files from captain-konami-code… Let’s make an archive this year!
I know someone who saved a couple of the captain videos!
