shuutakao:
He feels the tension diffuse when Akashi smiles, and Takao can’t help but smile himself – and it’s genuine. Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the grudges of basketball and the past, and forget that even the strongest of opponents are teenagers like himself. Perhaps now that Akashi has lost to Seirin and been on the receiving end of such a feeling, he’s different now from when he’d faced Shuutoku before. It would be ungracious of him to not even give Akashi a chance.
“Ah, well, if you’re sure. Around here, everyone kinda just winds up going to Maji Burger. It’s not that exciting, but it’s a pretty good place to chill and talk. Oh, and they have pretty good milkshakes too, if you’re into that.”
The thought of actually befriending Akashi had never been on his radar before this moment, but it’s honestly an interesting prospect. What better way to get over one’s own grudges than to learn about the positive qualities of the other person instead?
Is he into that? Honestly he’s got no idea. He hasn’t had time to sit and do something for himself in a long while. Today he’ll find out if he’s into millkshakes. What a journey of self-discovery. And they’re off to a better start now, since the uncomfortable tension seems to have ebbed. Again he thinks that perhaps fate had something different than he’d expected in store for him.
“I don’t need anything too exciting. Alright, my mind is made up. I’ll go there with you. Getting something to eat before heading home would be nice, too.”
He’s ready to go immediately. ~~ Be patient, maybe Takao needs to get things. After all, he didn’t expect to go out today.~~ This cuts his action short. He’d beeen ready to turn around and start on his way. But that’s hasty and a bit selfish - not at all how he wanted to come across.
“Is there anything you needed then before we set off? You don’t have to worry about money, you’re kind enough to go there with me.”
