Sam Winchester as a Caregiver!
The motel room door clicked shut behind you, and you let out a long sigh.
The vampire hunt had been exhausting. Your muscles ached, your head felt fuzzy, and all you wanted was to curl up somewhere warm.
Sam tossed his duffel bag onto one of the beds before glancing over at you.
You were already feeling it happen.
The familiar floaty feeling settled over you as the stress of the hunt melted away. The room suddenly seemed bigger.
Before you could even say anything, his arms were around you.
The hug was warm and strong, completely surrounding you. Sam always gave the best bear hugs. He held you close against his chest and rested his chin on top of your head.
"There you are," he murmured. "Good job today."
You wrapped your arms around him and buried your face in his flannel.
The praise made your chest feel warm.
Sam gently rubbed circles across your back.
"That was a big day, huh?"
A tiny smile appeared on your face.
After a few more moments of hugs, Sam pulled back just enough to look at you.
"You know what sounds better than thinking about vampires?"
Your eyes brightened immediately.
"Yep. Knew that would work."
A few minutes later, he had cleared off the little motel table and dumped out a colorful jigsaw puzzle he'd picked up at a store during one of your road trips.
The pieces scattered everywhere.
You immediately started sorting them while Sam sat beside you.
"Corner pieces first," he declared.
"Aw, c'mon," Sam protested dramatically. "That totally looked like a corner piece."
"You know what? You're right."
For the next hour, the two of you worked together.
Sometimes you found pieces before he did.
Sometimes Sam pretended to be completely confused just so you could help him.
"Where does this one go?" he asked, holding up a piece upside down.
By the time the puzzle was finished, your eyes were drooping.
He carefully packed away the puzzle before helping you get comfortable in bed.
The motel blankets weren't the softest, but Sam tucked them around you anyway, making sure you were warm.
Then he sat on the edge of the mattress.
"Need anything before sleep?"
Sam brushed a few strands of hair away from your face.
"You did really good today."
A smile spread across your face.
Sam leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
"Get some rest, sweetheart. I'll watch over you."
Knowing Sam was there made everything feel safe.
Your eyes drifted closed.
The last thing you felt was his hand giving your shoulder one final reassuring squeeze before sleep finally carried you away.
