ATTENTION WRITERS. I NEED ADVICE.

So.. I am working on a very serious book series, I've had it in the works for a few years. Nothing published yet, because I am above all a perfectionist when it comes to my work. I've always been really passionate about stories and world building and gothic fantasy media and literature...

The problem is that my brain. Won't. Stop.

I am already working on around five to six separate books, all in the same very strict and intricate universe I've created... And then I got another idea. Something completely separate that won't fit into my base universe.

Therefore, I had a thought. "Could I post this as more of a side project online somewhere? Maybe I could start building up a small fanbase for my work before I officially publish my primary project. Hype it up with all of my smaller ideas."

I don't want it to be casual and fanfic-y like wattpad, and I feel like on Ao3, nobody's looking for original stories and it'll get lost in all the cool fictive works based on pre-existing media. So... Where should I post it..?

If I try to make a website, I'll have to purchase a domain; and I am not exactly capable of spending any excess right now. Not only that, but advertising is a bitch when I am already working to support my family and as much as I possibly can on my novels and game development (No I do not sleep, stress will take me out with a 9mm at the ripe old age of 37 if I don't get there first)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am well aware that this is a loaded question, as well as a tall order. I know I am being far too ambitious, that half of my projects will likely never be completed. But I can't let my illness and my marriage take my stories from me, too. Being a writer is the only part of my identity that chronic illness hasn't taken from me yet.

A scenario I love too much for my ATLA oc, Teyon, is the fact that they're a firebender who HATES the fact that they're a firebender. They were raised in a mixed water tribe/fire nation household in the fire nation colonies, and upon joining the Gaang in book one, immediately felt the need to hide the fact that they were a bender at all.

So they act all cool and quiet and mysterious, maybe a little snarky at times, but well intentioned, only to have a complete violently sobbing meltdown once the cat's out of the bag, because Teyon just prays that the gaang doesn't hate them as much as they hate themself. Begging for forgiveness before they even see their reactions, only to be almost immediately met with the exact same care and kindness that the group has always shown them. (Sokka is a bit upset still, but almost immediately freezes up and calms down when he sees Teyon is genuinely distraught with self hatred)

Growing up, there was never any representation for my own culture.- Until there was ATLA. The water tribes being strongly rooted in Inuit culture was the closest thing I had to my own, and I decided that I wanted a character in ATLA that felt more rooted in Iroquois culture, while still fitting the avatar universe- And thus, I came up with the western water tribe.

"The island of the standing stone" Or Onayota'aka Island, as called by the locals.

Once a proud people, living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle on the back of a giant Wolfturtle's shell, they were tragically docked on the shores of the fire nation outskirts when the century long war first began, and thus one of the first civilizations to fall under firelord Sozins colonization, and joining the soon to be many fire nation colonies.

Though the island fell before Sozins comet first soared the sky, they were a small tribe. Unsuspecting, and trusting of a nation they once considered their ally.

The wolfturtle was restrained by fire nation soldiers. Disgusted by mortal hatred, greed, and the weak will of the people it once protected; the creature retreated inwards. Falling to a deep hibernation while the ancient creatures spirit wandered to the astral plane.

In similar fashion to Yu Dao, a fire nation colony seen in the comics, Onayota'aka island now lives more or less (Less. A lot less.) in peace with the invading forces, even having many mixed water tribe/fire nation families. But there is still much oppression, and many reparations to be made.

I'm rewatching ATLA, and Iroh is so fucking iconic.

People will really say Katara didn't show romantic interest in Aang as if she didn't spend almost all of episode 4 being jealous.

Yes, she was being practical and responsible, but she was also jealous. Like.. C'mon.

As a result of my previous post, I decided, "Fuck it. New ATLA oc."

I have not hyperfixated on ATLA in years, and haven't made an OC for it since my really cringe assassin I designed back in highschool (I choose not to remember the cursed timeline)

So, here we go.

I wanted to create an in depth OC that is not only as close to lore accurate as I could, and realistically fit into the universe, but also feel like a shoutout to my own culture since I like to project onto my OCs.

Being half Oneida and half white, I had an idea.

Oneida is an Iroquois nation, and the closest thing to that in ATLA are the northern and southern water tribes, being based on Inuit culture.

Seeing as there are giant lion turtles... As islands (Rare, yes, I know)... And the Iroquois creation story is about sky woman falling (Being thrown by her fuckass husband) from the clouds and essentially "creating" land on a world that was only ocean on the back of a giant turtle...

Picture this.

A formerly nomadic tribe of waterbenders who had their civilization on the back of a giant lionturtle, long before the 100 year war. They primarily remained far southwest of the main continents, but would often visit larger towns and cities in the four nations for agricultural trade and other such reasons, before the lands were torn apart by war and colonization.

War strikes while the island is close to the fire nation, and as such, a lot of very very *bad* shit happens.

One hundred years later, the island is stationary. A part of the fire nation colonies, the turtle who resided within the giant shell has been either dead or spiritually dormant for a very long time now, and the people who live there have no idea which one it is. But they pray that the great creature they once had a symbiotic relationship with survived the attacks, even if it has been bolted and trapped in place.

The culture of the watertribe and benders who once lived there is dwindling. They cannot engage in any water bending by law, though not being included in the avatar cycle of the northern and southern water tribes, the Firelord had no particular fear of the avatar being born into this tribe, and thus didn't send as many of the western benders to camps like the southern waterbenders had been.

My OC is the gender fluid child of a descendent of the original tribe, a water bender.. And a non-bending member of the fire nation.

As seen in the post-war comics, you can see many colonies living somewhat at peace when they have the issues with Yu Dao, almost causing an all out civil war when newly crowned Firelord Zuko attempts to make amends and give land back to the earth kingdom. That's sort of the island civilization dynamic I have in mind, though a bit more tense and hostile, though I'd have my OC join the Gaang before the end of the war, as a very strong willed and stubborn 17 year old who *hates* the fire nation, despite it being a part of their mixed culture. And they have to make peace with her own existence as a fire bender, instead of hating themself for it.

Lmk if anyone wants to hear/see more of my ideas! I'll probably post them either way.

My soul is being torn apart by nostalgia right now.

I don't know if it's because I forgot to take my meds last night, or if I would be truly distraught even hopped up on happy pills, but there is something deeply disheartening about the entire situation with Paramount and the new avatar movie.

I, personally, never would've gotten to watch it either way. I'm poor, and not paying for a new subscription. But I'm not going to watch the leaks, either. Not until the film comes out properly.

They weren't going to even release it in theaters, and now I truly doubt they ever will, no matter how hard we push. Watching the leaks and sharing them and whatever else isn't the 'Fuck you' to paramount that you think it is. It's just ensuring that they don't invest in Avatar Studios again, and plummeting the likelihood that we will ever get more ATLA content.

Tophs original voice actor has even spoken out about it. Fuck paramount, 100%, but we're fucking over the artists and voice actors as well in the process. Even if they've already been paid for the work they did, we are depriving them of future paychecks and respect.

Is it our fault? No. It's paramount and their incompetence. But we are perpetuating the problem.

So here's my proposal;

Shut the fuck up.

Hear me out, I'm not finished.

Imagine this. We spend the time rewatching the original series. The whole thing. Every episode.

Make new content for the original series. Art, edits, fanfics, and whatever else. Make OCs, be cringe, I don't care.

Blow up the original again.

It likely won't help the paramount issue, but it will occupy our own minds in the process.

I can't speak for legend of Korra. I never watched it all the way through, I found it extremely hard to watch knowing that almost all of my favorite characters were dead, and the universe I fell in love with was fundamentally changed by time and choices that seemed disingenuous to the characters. But I know that the last Airbender deserved a fourth season. And I know it helped shape me as a person.

Admittedly, I am now terrified to watch the movie.

I want to.

I want to watch it so bad.

But now that I know for certain that this is likely the end of my favorite childhood show, for good... I think I'll cry. Seeing them grown up, and letting go of my own childhood experience and wonder at the same time. The voice actors are different, and I'm afraid the characters won't feel the same. That the world will feel out of place from the original series..

It is a wonderful thing when a part of your childhood grows up with you. And it is soured when you know that the possibility of it continuing to do so will be cut short, and you have no idea whether it will even live up to the source material.

isaac night realistic headcanons V

i definitely think thing provides indirect glimpses of isaac’s personal habits and tastes. thing keeps hand lotions, perfumes, nail files, mirrors (ritualized grooming), his caretaking skills for both wednesday and enid are very parental-like and i do see that in isaac (it's clear with francoise). thing is also extremely loyal, dislikes being treated as a pet, irritable when disrespected, shows emotional blackmail, occasionally aggressive (he'll rocket-launch himself at uncle fester and strangle him <3), plays chess... sounds like certain someone

◾ isaac would be a gentleman, especially towards girls (based on thing holding enid's hand as she's naked after she wolfed out, or looking away as wednesday changes herself into her dress) ◾ he might be slightly pervy, too (based on thing attempting to peek while wednesday was changing into her dress, and a few other instances) ◾ he holds grudges (based on thing's reaction when fester visits and strangles fester until wednesday tells him to stop) ◾ isaac might actually use perfume (thing has perfume bottles in his little house, if i'm not wrong) perfumed handkerchiefs ◾ has a mirror in his lab ◾ dislikes being used or objectified ◾ him and francoise could have been isolated siblings from a religious household ◾ he speaks french, latin, maybe spanish, italian, etc ◾ a strategist and perfectionist ◾ ambidextrous (i write and paint with both hands, i feel like he'd definitely do that) ◾ 100% petty (deliberately mispronouncing someone’s name, hiding someone’s pen or things, he's so childish and can be infuriating) ◾ likes pocket watches, that's the only reason he'd make a ticking heart. he keeps one in his coat's pocket ◾ isaac’s moral sensibility was at least partially latent, he could've had empathy or protective instincts which were consistently overridden by obsession ◾ thing drinks although I don't think Isaac would have done that. i'll leave the headcanon of isaac getting drunk ocasionally just because thing seems to drink a lot sometimes, but i'm not sure about that one.

The stories said that Isaac Night was kinder once. Before the clockwork heart. But something about the transplant changed him. He grew cold and driven by ambition.

He was also Gomez's best friend, at least in Gomez's eyes. His roommate.

And as cold as he might've been, as borderline sociopathic, he did genuinely love Françoise. (Perhaps somewhat creepily, but they did come from a DA household, as stated by Isaac himself when dictating how his sister had killed their father. So.. Trauma bond.)

Therefore.

I believe that after Morticia cut off his hand, Thing managed to regain some of Isaac's lost empathy and perhaps some familial affection for Gomez, seeing as he was no longer connected to the clockwork heart (or the massive god complex), and was likely seeking that sort of sibling connection he felt with Françoise before becoming an independent entity.

In honor of the native American paranormal and cannibalistic emo band I'm making on sims - (I am oneida, just in case anyone tries calling me a colonizer) - Here's a brief rundown because I find this funny.

Band name: Flesh Pedestrian & The Windy Boys

Lead singer: Flesh, a sk*nwalker. He's got long, black hair and looks *almost* human in the most disturbing way possible. Smells like decay. Wears a dreamcatcher necklace with the webbing ripped out, and tells fans that he'll stalk them in their nightmares.

Guitarist: Pick 'Icepick' Bonechill, W*ndigo based on the more northern stories about starving in the winter and resorting to cannibalism to survive. Extremely gaunt and underweight, scruffy, messy grey and black hair, claws. Mouth has massive, monstrous fangs protruding.- In spite of this, he is definitely the pretty boy of the group. Always cold, and always hungry.

Drummer: Stitch- Named as such by their fanbase, because his mouth is stitched shut. -a more beastly version of the w*ndigo stories, as told further south. Messy black hair with an undercut, tousled in front to mostly cover his glowing red eyes. Definitely the hot head of the group, with the most insatiable appetite.- They had to stitch his mouth shut because he tried to eat their band manager, and muzzles didn't work. (Pick and Winner have to hold him down while Flesh forcibly dropper feeds him blood and blended human flesh through a straw.)

Bassist: Winner, another W*ndigo. I don't have a clear design for him yet, but I know he wears his hair in braids and has stretched ears.

They love their fans, but trying to get backstage is a good way to end up on the dinner table.

They have a lot of songs, but the one that really put them on the map was, "I'm sorry I mimicked the voice of your dead mom, please unblock me."

So.. You know when you rescue Volo, and you can let him give you an experimental lobotomy? When your eye pops out?

Wonderful.

I want to keep it. My eye. I want to put it in an oddity jar and have the option to give it to a companion.

Not like an automatic approval increase, but more of an interaction. If they don't like you or barely know you, they'd be repulsed. Like, "Ew, why the hells did you preserve your eye, and why do you think I'd want it?" And it decreases their approval.

But, if their approval is fair to high, it increases. Like sure, it's weird. But it's charming. Diologue choices would also determine a lot about the exchange, and maybe afterwards, if they liked the gift, you could see the jar somewhere near their tent afterward.

Probably a really odd idea, but I just really want to give Astarion or Karlach (mostly Astarion) my eye in a jar. I am the weird friend who would gift people bones and embalming tools

I've been putting off listening to Even in Arcadia (the whole album, not just the song) due to a spiral I was in, I decided today was today, but my medication is not nearly strong enough for the sucker punch I got from Gethsemane.

No prep, no nothing, just "Hi, remember the hole you just dug yourself out of? Get back in there!"

Vess and the holy fucking trinity behind him handed me a fucking shovel and said rock bottom wasn't deep enough.

That goth fucking flamingo is mocking me right now, I can feel it.

I thought I was going to get caught up on Infinite baths (Haven't heard this one yet, pressing play now) or damocles or something, but I feel like I just got beat in the face with a brick of emotional damage right now. What the fuck?

So physically encumbered with the demons that my only option for coping is day drinking and caramel induced vibes, so the depressingly heavy undertones can give way to the absolute fucking banger of romanticized eternal agony.

Here's a weird thing about Sleep Token, as a worshipper, that I'm not sure if anyone else deals with-

It's literally *impossible* not to like one of their songs.

I first listened to 'Sugar', and I thought I didn't really fuck with it, and it wasn't my vibe.

I got it stuck in my head one night and thought, "Shit, I really don't like this song, it's getting annoying. I'll just quickly listen to it to get it out of my head, because nothing else is working."

All it takes is one more bloody listen, it's now in my list of favorites. It was on repeat for the rest of the night after that. I haven't the faintest idea what triggered it, but it just suddenly clicked into place.

The world's most emotionally tortured cryptid, physically encumbered by the most horrifying of demons to the point that he must perform an awkward little jaunt on stage, decided to form a band with three other tortured souls and then ruin my life with what might possibly be the most beautiful music I have ever heard in my damn life?? Excuse me?

I tried to dislike Sugar, and even Aqua Regia, and they both decided to wait outside my window like, "Open the door, or I'm gonna throw rocks through your window, you dumb whore"

I don't know how to feel about a lot of it. I watched the blood moon with 'Emergence' blasting on repeat and *cried*

I used to spend my autism stimulation deprivation time curled up under several heavy blankets, face down, with absolutely no sound. Now I do it with the second coming of Bragi screaming about toxic co-dependance and obsession with the almighty power of reverberation, epic drum beats, bass, and electric fucking guitar (etc) possessing my soul like the world's most passionate group of musically inclined demons.
