Okay random mandatory yap cause I've been replaying FE3H and have some Thoughts! Not important ones, but I may as well post about something LMAO.
This is completely unstructured just fyi. I am literally . Just yapping. About a 7 year old game. For brief context I have only ever played the Blions route once, that is my entire experience FHSHFS,, I got to this game late. Regardless! It's been really funny going through the Golden Deer route for the first time and enacting my nefarious plan to both learn more about the whole class by . Playing The Video Game Like You're Supposed To. AND to try and get more attached to these characters I really did not care about at all during my Blions playthrough. Since most were not relevant there really. It is teaching me a few things
For one I already liked Marianne, Hilda, and Claude just on the surface, and that's only been reinforced by all their supports n stuff thus far. Marianne your mentally ill swag captivates me and Claude + Hilda's dynamic is really great it makes me like her alot. Hilda has always felt like Claude's Dedue or Hubert to me even if I don't think that's officially true. Claude also has so many secrets. Staring at him under a microscope. Crests and monsters n stuff are gonna be way more relevant for this route than the Blions huh.!
For two, my plan has been working for the rest of the class too!!! Lysithia Rafael Ignatz, they're all alot more interesting than I initially thought and I have more concrete opinions of them now. It helps in Lysithia's case that I vaguely know white hair + two crests = she has some kinda deep dark secret similar to whatever Edelgard has going on too and I love getting to watch mysteries unfold... Ignatz is. He's. His ass is just like me for real I think this is the most I've related to any character in a video game. He just likes art and doesn't want to upset anyone so he will eat inconvenience for the sake of protecting others from it. He is very endearing to me... probably my fourth favorite of the class. And then Raph is still pretty basic all things considered he still isn't my favorite BUT. I just beat he and Ignatz's paralogue and it's genuinely interesting/endearing the sheer unwavering extent to which he's committed to not blaming anyone or harboring trauma to the point of ruining him, especially when I have DIMITRI ALEXADRE BLAIDDYD in my head so often FHSHFS. It was fascinating to see him bite a little at Ignatz not for traumatized reasons but for the amount of guilt Ignatz himself has LMAO like hey. Dude. Cut it the fuck out. I'm not gonna suddenly hate you or Lorenz for my parent's death it was an accident y'all didn't do that stuff. I find this aspect of his character alot more compelling than just. The obligatory muscle-bound foodie. But I digress
Even Lorenz is kinda interesting in the very "oh my gooodddd can this dude shut the hell up he's so prissy and he doesn't even know it" way and I started out by just straight disliking him. He talks funny. His voice lines are so out of touch it circles back to being amusing. I do like him more than prior, less like a Favorite Character That I Like but more in the. ...yeah he's really funny way FGSFGS. If that makes sense. Why is he like that.!!! He was also really sweet to Marianne in their B(? C+?) rank support and HIS dynamic with Claude is fucking HYSTERICAL they cannot stand eachother. So he has some points of interest
The eagle (or rather deer) eyed among you might have noticed I did NOT mention Leonie tho and that is because . The plan has. Lightly backfired on her actually GSHGHS I just. I always found it slightly weird how she is obsessed with Byleth's dad even tho that's not inherently a bad thing . She just goes about it in such a weird way??? She doesn't really talk to Byleth like a person but more as a means to learning about/getting to Jeralt? Like she literally only ever talks about him to them and it just rubs me as odd, imagine someone inexplicably REALLY liking your dad and never really talking to you unless it pertains to him 😭😭 I think what they're theoretically going for is kinda sweet, like. She was saved by him or whatever and wants to be just like him, but it's just such an odd dynamic when she moves through her professor for it instead of bonding with them about it in smaller ways. Iirc she is actually HOSTILE to Byleth about the way they. View. Their own dad. And talk about him. In their C rank support. And it's just odd man. She seems to think she's better than Byleth or that it's like a fight for his attention and she's . Winning. Over his Child.
Not to mention she is also really hot headed and kinda mean atleast in her early supports 😭 I already started off on the wrong foot with her when it came to her Jeralt obsession and that has not helped. She makes alot of assumptions and doesn't tend to try and understand other perspectives, just reacts. Which can be fine if there's some appropriate growth or a good solid basis for this behavior becomes known later, so I am still holding out to see any of her higher rank supports before REALLY letting myself have an opinion on her. I know C supports can just seem kinda negative at times (cough cough FELIX AND DIMITRI) and dynamics can change alot between them, but still. Where Lorenz begets a "omg dude shut uuppp get over yourself lmao" response in a more neutral/lightheartedly amused light she has been giving me a very legitimate "girl. Oh my god. What the fuck that was uncalled for girl ." response instead FHSGFS,,
Aanyways let it be known I'm in ethereal moon (chapter 9) now and despite not even playing his route I still went over to hear Dimitri lose it a little and pinched at the screen while saying "there he iiisss!!" because I am an unapologetic loser. That is all
